Thanksgiving? No, this is a event which connects to the american history so we don´t have thanksgiving.

Customs...? I heard that in america the children open the gifts at the next mourning of christmas and not at the evening? Is this rigth, I can´t remember where I heard this but everytime I watch an american movie and it is x-mas the childrens open the gifts in the mourning. We do everything at the evening.

We had this Thanksgiving / Christmas customs thing already in PM and at the General Board...

What is similar to our "Christkind" ? Can you explain that ?

Besides our Santa Claus is "Nikolaus" (6th of Dec.) and "Weihnachtsmann" (24th of Dec.) all in one person,
doesn't enter houses through chimneys and doesn't put those gifts into socks.

The last one I saw (it was my own Granny when I was 6 or 7 or so) asked me if i was nice to my parents throughout the last year, I said "well,...." and that was good enough for him to spank me, you know that custom I guess.
So i had to kick Easter Bunny's ass later instead for my revenge...

Lone One....nice to see another friendly face. Hey, the kids got to wait til the morning for their presents...Santa comes down the chimney on Christmas eve with their presents...that is if they've been good boys and girls.

To be honest though, some families do open one gift or all their gifts on Christmas Eve...especially after the kids are grown.

And watch out if you step under that mistletoe...

Haven't been around much for a few months due to work.
I'm on vacation so I'm reading and posting a bit more.

Right now, the fire is blazing in the fireplace, the ham is cooking in the oven, and snow is coming down in a blizzard. We should get 8" (~20cm) of fresh snow today!

Time to open a 20 year old bottle of Barros Port
