Getting hanging and 500 errors story side / Control Panel

Even loading a story from a direct URL seems fucked up. I was able to load page 1 of a story I was looking at earlier today. But then page 2 was a 500. Refresh and it half comes back, but does not load properly. Then page 1 was also 500ing (maybe it had been loaded from cache initially).

I get that nearly every time I click on the last page of any story, always. I have to go back and click again, and again. The third time tends to be the charm. I've gotten used to it.

It’s related to the comments being on the last page of the story, I believe.

Everything works fine for me on iPad and on the Mac, but not on my Android phone or the Windows PC. All Chrome.

Firefox browser is the main non chromium based browser.

Neither clearing cookies nor flushing DNS cache helped. If they’re doing some A/B launch, the bucketing must be based on user agent hash, or something like that, and the faulty logic is probably somewhere in the Angie config or thereabouts.
