On my part this is simply thread hijacking of a very ego driven boring thread.

Can't speak for the others, but hijacking happens.

This particular thread annoyed me.
The poster ignored basic courtesy by posting a link to a boring story despite being told there was a 'shameless plug thread' for the plugging of stories.
He then sneaked the link into another thread when he had little response here.

I don't see it as politics I see that as bad manners.

As for thread hijacking the Queen of hijacks changes from time to time.
A worthy contender is Gracie who is not online a great deal at the moment.
People have even hijacked their own threads, threads do go off at tangents, just like normal conversations.
If a thread of mine gets hijacked I get over it. If I am out with friends and the conversations changes I don't go and sulk, so why would it be any different here?

Thats the wonderful thing about the cafe, hijacking can happen and it does not take away from any serious discussion which mainly remain in the 'talk' area

Hijacking isn't personal, I have no idea who TT is, nor am I overly concerned about them; this stems from their pure bad manners as oppose to them as a real person.
If they stay I will get to know them, if not, I won't, simple really.

Edit to add: I am not suggesting any new person should be paying homage to long time posters, I am not wired that way. I do like common courtesy and manners though.

Jenny, please note that the conversation had pretty much come to an end before the hijack occurred. It's natural that an open thread who's original point has come to a conclusion gets hijacked. Also, several of the "evil hijackers" (a crowd I am frequently in) were treated a bit harshly by the original poster when they didn't like his story. However, they did participate in the original conversation. One may argue that the thread should have been a post in the sticky plug, er plug sticky, but since he was asking for feedback and not just plugging his tale, (no pun intended) one could also argue it needed it's own thread.

Like you, I don't want to sound overly harsh, but I would like to point out that anyone can bring a thread back on topic simply by posting on the original topic. This technique is generally more effective than bashing the hijackers.


PS Shy, what's a PMT and does anyone have any extra reeses they can spare because I'm fresh out!

Jenny perhaps you need to consider not projecting your version of what is going on as if it is fact. Where has anyone read an example of 'ripping the piss out of T.T.' in this thread. Thats a fairly extreme statement for the small fluff hijack that ended a redundant thread.

My opinion was that the intial piece presented for comment was 'trite' which I decided in hindsight to edit less than an hour after submitting. Yes I had a negative opinion of the 'work' and its done with. It was comments that were made down the line by tail teller that flicked up potential clues to me that he may in fact be an Alt including typing style, tone and manner of expression that is rather distinct. My instincts are fairly reliable about such things , having said that I am well aware I may be wrong.

I also find it curious that you are one to jump the bandwagon on this Thread. I wish I had thought my intial considerations through a little further and could have left you out a welcome mat.

To be honest I find that the Lit. style takes some getting used to. On Lit. it can make sense (once you "get it"). Sometimes though, compared to the rest of the big wide world, it can look...a little... "different".

Actually I thought some of us did give feedback as requested, encouragement is not an automatic expectation though. For me, given this is not the place for asking people to review your writing, (there is a whole other forum for that, and also feedback and comment options on stories, but there are always those precious people who feel they are different and don't have to conform to what is there for the rest of us), I actually thought TT was fortunate to even get any feedback and critique, and certainly would have had a less friendly and polite response on the GB I'm thinking. Problem is, most who post stuff here for critique, though not all, want a positive response only, and in fact are shocked and angry when they get anything other than what they wanted...they are not looking to improve their writing, just to be praised for what may or may not be a fair effort. This one did not come up to fair effort for me, and requires a lot more talent in writing style and plot.

Lit has never seemed 'different' to me.
I am at a loss to know what you mean.
Some people here are my friends, its not a clique; we don't lock the door or have secret passwords. Other people here irratate me but I would not want them to stop posting. They often post interesting, funny or thought provoking stuff and add to the general feeling of 'room for everyone' attitude that underpins everything here.
It is like real life with an slowly revolving & changing circle of people.
The only way I see it is 'different' is the majority of the people here own up to being a pervert, some people I know in r/l are not that honest.

As to your continuing comment about 'the exchange' well for me that similiar to real life too;
if someone pushes their product in my face I comment. Sometimes is positive sometimes I it has negative connatations but the result is not usually rude or of the sulk variety.

I comment on the sulk as TT has not returned and left you to fight his corner. Of course he may be busy but if I started a thread asking for opinions I would make sure I had the manners to return on a regular basis and comment on the comments.

Returning to your comment about Lit and how we look tot he rest of the net, again I am as baffled by this comment as I am by your thoughts that Lit appears 'different.'

The whole of the Lit site is a vast place full of corridors, rooms, havens and hells.
Again it is about manners, if you want feedback head for the right room. If you want help on a subject there is another room. Its not personal it is about making sure people get what they need/want from Lit.
If they want real abuse they should head for the GB, its open 24/7 and always has people on hand to ignore/crush/dislike/love a new poster.
I can't help but think that there are times that people post stuff in the BDSM rooms because they know they will be beaten to death in the GB if they tried the same post there.
