Housewarming (open)

"Kitchen," he called out. He smiled up at her as she came in and tore the list off the notepad. "I'm ready to go whenever you are. First stop I gotta make is for some appliances."

"Alright, I know this store downtown, a little expensive but their stuff lasts..." she said smiling as she slid onto the countertop.

"Alright... Do they do deliveries and installation? I'd like to get the fridge and the stove put in some time around noon since I also need to do some grocery shopping. I was thinking I'd make us dinner."

Bram hastily scribbled a couple more notes on the list before stuffing it in his pocket and standing up to stretch out.

"Yep they do, and dinner sounds great.." Kass said as she slid off of the counter and stood with him, "lets go" she said with a smile.

Bram grabbed his keys and strode out the door. "What sounds better to you: baked ziti and garlic bread or roasted chicken and potatoes?"

"mmm," she thought for a moment, "roasted chicken and potatoes..." she smiled as she got into the car and buckeled her seatbelt.

Bram made the mental note and drove off to the store Kass told him about. Over the course of the next few hours, they spent time getting the appliances for Bram's kitchen, buying up some more miscellaneous furniture, and once they checked in to see that the fridge had been installed, grocery shopping.

Bram retreated into his studio for four hours to get his practice in, telling Kass to head on home for a while. He picked her up from her house as soon as he was done and began preparing dinner. "My aunt and uncle on my mother's side are New Orleans," he explained. "And they loved to cook. So this is one of the dishes they taught me when I went off to college."

Kass had sat at her computer for most of those four hours, typing away at something for work before Bram came to pick her up. As he told her where he learned to cook she smiled, "MM, I bet it will be delicious," she said smiling sweetly at him as they entered his house, "It looks so much better with all this furniture and stuff in here doesnt it?" she asked as she sat down on the couch.

"Yes, much better," Bram agreed. He threw the spices and peppercorns into a coffee grinder and pulverized them into a fine powder. He then poured it into the pan with the chicken and potatoes. He set them in the oven and put on the timer.

"Well, we've got some time to kill."

"Is that some sort of hint?" she joked as she slid her legs beneath her and smiled at him, "How did your work go today?" she asked trying to not let her joke hang in the air.

Bram sat deside Kass and immediately pulled her into his lap. "Not bad. I decided to experiment with some flamenco and salsa today. I recorded a couple tracks, so maybe we can have a little tango after dinner."

"Hmmm, sounds muy caliente..." Kass giggled as she sat on his lap, "I love dancing..." she informed him, "Perhaps a surprise is in store for you later tonight.. only if you're good..." Kass said her eyes lighting up with an idea.

Bram lifted a brow and an impish grin spread over his lips. "And what would being good entail, love?"

"Hmmm, the dinner has to be awesome and... desert as well, and I mean actual food, not..." she rose an eyebrow indicating what she meant.

"Well, we have ice cream and blackberry pie for dessert. Can't make promises beyond that, except on dinner. I guarantee that you'll be pleased with that."

"Alright, if it's good then you get a little surprise after, "She smirked, "Will the potatoes be done soon?"

"Soon, love, soon." Bram brushed Kass' hair back from her face and smiled softly. "Cooking is as much an art as music, and you can't rush art."

"I just was making sure, burnt potatoes dont taste as good..." Kass smiled as she leaned down and kissed him.

Bram kissed her back, holding her close. He ran one hand through her hair when they parted and he stared deep into her eyes with a soft smile.

Kass blushed as he looked into her eyes, "Always you're the only one who makes me like that..." Kass whispered almost giggling.

Pulling from the kiss her lips curled into a smile as she laid her head on his shoulder. "Mmm, it smells soooo good..." she said licking her lips.

Bram whiled away the rest of the time making out with Kass like he was a teenager all over again. He whispered compliments in her ears and teasing promises of what the night would bring until the timer in the kitchen went off.

He stood and stretched out. "The table's all set. Just take a seat while I get our dinner out."

Kass smiled, as they kissed for the rest of the time, loving the feeling of his lips on hers and the whsiperings in her ear. Too soon for her the buzzer rang and Bram stood, letting her go and instructed her to sit at the table.

"Mm, smells yummy," she commented as she sat down at the table and pulled in her chair.

Bram pulled the pan out of the oven and used a pair of tongs to scoop the chicken and potatoes onto a large plate. He placed it in the center of the table and got up to grab two more bottles of Sam Adams. The chicken and potatoes had been roasted to a very light crisp. The chicken skin was peppered with herbs and spices, forming a marbled pattern across it

"Help yourself," Bram said proudly as he sat down.
