A few points from personal experience...

First, if he's had his finger (or anything else!) in your butt, that's a great way to present the idea to him. I've heard from guy friends that "Why does she want to do this to me?" is a big question for them. If you tell him you want to provide him the same pleasure he does for you, that answers his question right away. Guys sometimes forget that we find their bodies sexy too!

If he's done it to you, that also leaves him the option to rationalize letting you finger him as something that's simply 'fair', since you let him do it to you. This is an easy way for him to ignore any hangups he might have about being interested in the activity.

I would advise against 'just going for it' for a number of reasons. Primarily, because if you 'just do it' you'll be a hypocrite if you expect him not to 'just do things' to you in the future (like tying you up and inviting friends over!).

Additionally, if he has an upset stomach, or gas, or whatever, it may simply not be good time for you to be exploring up there!

Just tell him what you wanna do... if he objects, tell him you'll find someone else who will be okay with it. That's how my ex got me to do all kinds of stuff I normally would object to

I think people can be self concious about being dirty down there. So start your love making by taking a shower together and make sure you are both totally clean and then it will be fun. If I think that I am gross down there, I will not let anyone near my asshole. if I am clean I love it.
