How far in advance do you start?

Heh. I'm working on April Fools' 2026 at the moment. It didn't get completed for last year, and I've nearly got a draft done but it needs some careful editing (two people talk at cross-purposes for much of 25,000 words...), so isn't happing this year.

Wheelchair Bound? was submitted over a year after I started writing it - but was only made into a Valentine's story two days before I submitted it.

A few stories are much quicker - my Valentine's letter this year was scribbled in a few hours, then had a day to edit after getting some comments. But many take a long time and don't meet event timetables as planned. Conference Collaboration was part of Geek Pride last year, then Messing About on the River was in Summer Lovin', then Anal Sex: A Scientific Approach got added to Pink Orchid this year.

They were all meant to be one story in Pink Orchid last year, but I ended up publishing both ends and then the middle.
