Sex is the bits you have physically on your body. There are up to 3 types, depending on your views.
Sexual orientation is which sets of bits you like to play with.
Gender is how you act.


If we can't agree on definitions we will never be able to have a conversation.

So, first it was sex (m or f). Gender was used to replace sex in 1955 by 1 guy. That usage became widespread in usage in the 1970's and became the general term used by the FDA in 1993. In 2011 the FDA reversed itself and went back to using sex as the biological term and gender as the social construct or identification.

Thus, at this point in time, gender either means your physical anatomy OR your social construct identification. Sex could be either your physical anatomy or making whoopee.

The distinction is pointless since the usages and definitions are intermingled and confused. One means the other unless the sentence construction defines or differentiates them.
