In the spirit of this thread, I am going to enclose my response to a "gentleman" who wore out his welcome. Very quickly wore out his welcome. And I tried to be gracious and gently tell him that I wasn't interested. But he just kept at it.

I have three responses for you. Please pick one and run with it:

1) I am sorry, but I really have no interest in knowing about you banging your fictitious students.

2) Just because I like porn, doesn't mean I am interested in your porn. In fact, to simplify, I am not interested in your porn.

3) I am done with this conversation. You are allowed to think I'm a bitch and to tell others so. In fact, please do.

'Hey I just realised I have to go see my mum. Toodles.'

'My favourite TV show is coming on, gotta go.'


Or if you want to be honest you could say that something they did has turned you off. If things start out well and go badly because of one sentence, or one thing that really kills the mood for you, you might want to tell them that.

There are some really great men on Lit, but sadly there are some major assholes on here too. It never fails to astound me, the audacity of some of these losers, that I owe them because I post here. You can bet they act like that in real life too.

I rarely cyber but when I do, it is with someone I know and like in addition to lust. I find that I have way less problems in chat that way and it makes for a more pleasurable experience in my opinion.

Exactly. Back when AOL was the land of dial-up connections and one had to use them (or a similar product) to get online, I would browse their chat rooms. It never failed. *IF* a woman was online, but especially in an adult natured chat room, many of the men felt she "owed" them a cum. "We only existed to get men off."

So, who gives a fuck about "letting someone down easy" in chat. He (or she, for those trying to ditch a gal) isn't your boyfriend (or girlfriend), your lover, your close friend, etc. They're nothing to you, so if they're being an ass just ignore them.

Even here at Lit, I cannot count the number of PMs I delete with no response.

I think the highlighted text is the key. Many are simply assholes, no matter in what context your interaction with them. Others are emboldened by the nameless/faceless nature of the online forums and they simply do not give a shit about anything else.

Somethinig that I have often wondered is that if this approach did not work, I think the employment of such techniques would stop. I think there MUST be women who respond to such treatment (don't we ALL know asshole magnets) and, therefore, it continues.

What am I missing?

Oh and, btw, I like the OP's approach. Speak your truth and let go of the outcome. Simply not responding is not only cowardly but, it dehimanizes you.

The BOTS were the reason I had initially abandoned my yahoo account. The chat there was more BOT spam. Oddly enough I have started using my yahoo again for IM after not touching it for 4 or five years.

Now that Im thinking about it, this whole bots chatting with each other thing might have been something rather hot that I missed out on... Im thinking the scene would start out with the usually spammy " Hi, Im Lucy! Wanna see my tits?" and ending up with "Oh, baby... Im going to interface my IDE with your Motherboard so hard its going to melt the capacitors in your power supply". Then ZZZzZzztCH!
