How to prepare for my first massage?

This is a serious question. I know it probably seems stupid, but if anyone can share some insight that would be awesome.

I'm going in for my first massage in a few days. This is a normal massage, nothing sexual about it.

I'm getting a little bit nervous about a few things.

Do I go naked? Should I wear my underwear during the massage? What happens if I get an erection during the massage? How far up my legs do they go? Is there a chance they might 'skim' my penis?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would love to be able to help, and love the word massage, and have written many a story on this same experience. But alas, I am a man and prefer to give them as opposed to get them.

I would assume you have some flexibilty what to wear when you get there, and may be asked to wear a towel or perhaps a robe.

But I am sure that another poster on here will be able to help you more during this time of need.

I've never had a professional massage either, but I bet your masseur would be able to answer all those questions for you without batting an eye or making you uncomfortable. If this isn't a "happy ending" massage, then they should stay well away from your genitals and ass crack. My guess is that you'll wear a towel to the table, then leave it across your butt.

If you find they're doing something that makes you uncomfortable, tell them and they'll stop what they're doing. As for becoming aroused on the table, just think of Susan Boyle naked, that should take care of it ... ;):D

It depends on what you're having worked on. If you're having a full body therapeutic or relaxing massage, get naked so the therapist can work on your glutes (if you want him/her to). If you're not comfortable being naked, leave your undies on. I only have my back and neck worked on for therapeutic purposes on a regular basis, so I just undress above the waist to save time (though it'd be perfectly acceptable for me to remove my pants or skirt if that'd make me more comfy during the massage).

You'll remove your clothes by yourself and get under a sheet, usually face down first. If/When you flip over, the therapist will hold the sheet so you're not exposed, give you instructions on how to flip and cover you up while your legs and such are worked on. No biggie.

What happens if I get an erection during the massage?
Nothing. This is a trained pro who knows men get erections periodically. S/he won't mention it, and neither should you.

How far up my legs do they go?

Usually all the way to and including the hip, but tell them if you'd like them to stop lower or you're uncomfy at any time. That goes for anything, BTW. Good massages are like good sex in that they require communication. If you're feeling really tense in a certain area or they hit the right spot, let them know (e.g., "The top of my left shoulder has really been bothering me lately," or, "I really enjoy having the arches of my feet massaged," or, "Oh, you found the perfect spot right there on my neck!" . If something doesn't feel good physically or emotionally, or hurts you, ask them to use less pressure or avoid that area (they'll usually apologize and move right along).

Is there a chance they might 'skim' my penis?
Well, yeah, there's always some chance, but not intentionally, and it's highly unlikely. There's also a chance the doctor might skim your penis while he's looking for cancer or otherwise examining you. This is the same thing: you're seeing a professional, and both of you should act professionally. If the therapist's forearm or whatever accidentally skims your genitals, don't take it as an advance or even mention it. Professionals don't ever touch clients sexually, period.

Hey now, Susan Boyle is plenty fuckable. :p

Relax!

I have a good friend who is a CMT and I asked her about this once. She said she treats her male clients like a donut...goes all around the outside but presumes there's a hole in the middle. As has been stated, they've seen erections before...no biggie (ohhh...bad pun, but you get the point). You'll be fine. Drink lots of water after to flush out any released toxins and avoid soreness tomorrow.

that's funny
i did a massage course and i've done only a few at home on females so I'm not sure about guys but
i think it would be pretty normal to get an erection and if I were massaging i'd like that, it would indicate that the guy is relaxed and enjoying the non sexual rub...and if he was hot well that would be nice for me too:) - I could just fantasize the entire time. You just wear your normal gear and take it off when you get there....a fully body massage includes your ass but not your asshole! and no they won't skim your cock...sorry.....unless you go to a service provider who has massage with happy ending.

I've had massages done before, and if one is feeling uncomfortable, best to leave the undies on. I've had both male and female massage therapists work on me before and have had no problems. They were very professional and listened to me if they were going a bit rough (I like a firm deep massage on my back, for example). I only left my undies on only if they were a new therapist to me and/or I had my time of the month. Good luck!

And yes, definitely drink a LOT of water afterwards as it'll flush out the toxins, etc.

Just recently had my first professional massage and the therapist ( a guy) told me I could undress to my level of comfort. I got naked and got under the sheet on the table. He kept the sheet pulled down to only expose what he was working on and I was able to turn over under the sheet just fine. I figured if I am paying good money for it I want them to be able to massage everything I need to have worked on and I've had lower back surgery twice.
I've been back a three times and I've never felt uncomfortable naked with him.

My wife is a massage therapist, and what I am adding to this thread is based upon many conversations I have had with her over the last 10-12 years.

First, take a shower and brush your teeth before you go. The biggest problem she has with her clientele is bad body odor. And don't over do it with cologne or perfume.

Second, if you are not comfortable taking off your underwear, leave them on. It is easier for the massage therapist if you are fully nude under the sheet, but by no means is it necessary. The important thing is for you to be comfortable. Your private areas will be draped at all times, so don't worry about exposure.

If you get an erection, don't fret about it. Approximately 25% of my wife's male clients get an erection the first time. She just ignores them.

Don't expect any accidental brushing against your equipment. Unless it is crawling halfway to your knee, it is not going to be in the way.

The most important thing is to just relax. The more relaxed you are, the more you will enjoy the experience.

Finally, be honest about how much pressure you can handle. If it is not enough, your muscles will not release you will not get the full benefit of the massage. But if you try to be a tough guy and ask for too much pressure, you will be sore for days. Let him or her know if it is too much, or not enough.

I'm a massage therapist. There's been great advice in this thread. Your therapist should ask, but if she/he doesn't, make sure to let them know It's your first professional massage. They'll take extra time explaining procedures.

But Yeah. Be communicative. Your therapist depends on your feedback during the massage.

I love a good massage and I have had many in the US and canada and through out all of Asia. I have been to parlors in Asia that also provide a release. This is a nice touch if they give you a release at the end of a good professional massage.

In China they look at massage like acupuncture. Foot massages can be very painful. So can full body massages. I believe in China they feel "no pain no gain." Since I like deep tissue theraputic massages that can be a bit uncomfortable at times I always pop a few ibuprofen or naproxen and I keep myself well hydrated before and after. If the pain is too much tell her. In china I have a safe word. It's Aaaarrgghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! They usually back off when I say this.
