HumanKind.. Be Both

What a time it is
A time for humanity to search their hearts
Do the right thing - even when it can be worrisome

My kids are hurting this week - family tragedies and all that
but so many people have entered their lives to help them
even at the expense of being with their own families
sometimes the whole world needs to move aside to let a moment become
what it needs to be

Thank you,
me

As big a tragedy as this whole thing is, we are seeing the very best of humanity and kindness, here by the epicenter. The generosity of people, and the willingness to help others is immense. There will be damages to pay, and they will be huge, but I think and hope that we will emerge better and stronger than ever before.

Yes, this is no time to be a selfish hogger. Please show kindness to the people around you. The one silver lining of a pandemic is that it's an equal opportunity disaster.

I see so many small businesses closing, under orders of the government because they are "non-essential ". I get it. I really do. But they are essential to the people who put their life savings into an idea and have been cultivating their dream for a long time. I feel horrible for them and their families. They don't know when, or if, they will be able to open again. I do what I can, and we all should, given the means to do it. Last night, I ordered dinner from a local pub, all stuff I shouldn't be eating on my diet. Picked it up, tipped them about 150%. Then i went to the gas station to fill up my car and gave my dinner to the attendant, who knows me because it's the only station I ever go to. I'm only saying this because it's something I saw someone else do, and I'm spreading it around. Get creative. Not all of us can be healthcare workers and save people's lives. Sincere gratitude to those who are. I have a few friends who are sewing and donating masks. I don't have a sewing machine. But we CAN do something to save our neighbors and neighborhoods from the financial devastation this is causing. And remember to say thanks to the grocery store workers. From 6 feet away, please.

Wonderful. That's very good of you!

It's probably a good time to remind everyone to be nice.. be kind. .

I've committed to a fundraising event for women's cancer. It's a nice thing to focus on in the middle of all this. Humanity just may be what gets us through it.

How are you?
How are you staying connected?

I’m so proud of you for what you do for others...People have no idea the capacity of your heart, selflessness, compassion and giving behind the scenes...I have been the recipient of your heart and kindness for years now...You are dedicated to making the lives of others better...and you never waiver...

Ty for being such a dear to me and an inspiration...

I feed the hungry. I don't have words enough to describe what that means.

98 year old mom moves into Nursing home to care for her 80 Year old son...:heart::heart:

I love this so much. It reminds me of that book, Love You Forever

I had a hell of a week.. a few too many 14 hour days that were filled with too many meetings about work that I just don't have the time to address.. but we make time. We all do it. These days, it seems like we're either drowning in work or starving for it - and I don't mean to complain to those in the latter..
but this drowning prompted me to find an escape so I left my office on Thursday and walked up to our chemo unit where I asked if there were any patients with a new diagnosis..
without going into the details of their stories, I was able to spend an hour listening, and sharing, and being present.. it was such a gift to me, such a reminder of my personal "why"

When you feel like you can't do it for another day
When you're mourning that you've lost something or someone
Find that love you wish you were sharing and create space for it

Our healing doesn't come from what others give to us; but from what we give to others

Enjoy your week - I hope it's filled with love

Such a beautiful post Giggles...You are always such a giver...it is who you are...your innate DNA...Giving and loving...Love that about you ...Giving really is a healer...Recently I have personally found that personal contribution has given me great strength in weariness and exhaustion...It really is a gift in so many many ways...and I could go on and on with many examples of that...

Your patients and colleges are SO lucky and blessed to have such a compassionate and dedicated soul on their side...it makes all the difference...

Thank you for sharing and always lifting me up...:rose:

Recently I have personally found that personal contribution has given me great strength in weariness and exhaustion...It really is a gift in so many many ways...

This.

and I love you too, my lovely soul sister

When you're weary, who holds you? And I don't mean when you come home at night and scoot into the arms of someone who will help you to forget..
who helps you to remember..
to connect you to your purpose?

I recently had a friend help me through a difficult challenge - and it may sound silly -
Every time it storms, I am fearful that my sweetgum tree will fall into my house. I look out the window.. and calculate the exact angle that will be followed should it come down.. and I worry.. and sometimes I lose sleep..

So I was telling her how I didn't sleep the other night.. and the very next day she came to my home.. and she walked me out to that tree.. and helped me to connect with it.. to appreciate what it brings to every day that it's not raining.. the healing berries that feed the animals, the shade that fills my home with comfort..
and she challenged me to love that tree.. like.. really love it..

and I'm not saying that you should become a treehugger (though it was pretty cool) - but I hope that someone is willing to help you over the edge
to say "let me walk through that weariness with you so that we can make it to the other side"

and if you've been that friend to someone lately
thank you.
thank you for staying grounded when someone couldn't connect
thank you for opening your heart to take a little of the stress from another
and thank you for being human.. and kind.

There's a lot going on these days. I'm sometimes brought to tears when I take a moment to ponder all the things people deal with... it's heart filled.

Instead of sharing some huge personal experience (thank you for indulging this, btw), I'd like to share a recent find that you may choose to support. I came across this organization while shopping for a friend with whom I share a personal tradition: any gifts we ever exchange need to, in some way, contribute to others. (It's a fun tradition, give it a try.. )

Thistle Farms is an organization in TN that exists to help women who are victims of abuse, trafficking, prostitution, etc.
They choose the thistle because it is a strong and sturdy flower that can survive great hardship. It has grit. It reminds us that, with some gentle care, one might blossom into a truly unique being. I thought others might like to at least read their story - and maybe support their cause.

Anyway, I am often struck by the power of a soft gesture and I'm using this platform to pose an intention today:
As we continue our walk through this time of uncertainty for so many, please remember to use your grit as a source of kindness so that others may benefit from your encounter.

Thank you

For those of you who might think GiggleGasm is just a woman speaking to other women, you are wrong. Her words of gentle wisdom apply to all of us. Recently I was not the giver of care to others, but the receiver. I was hurt, not knowing where I was going. A friend stepped up and helped take away the pain. The loving care I received will now be passed on to another should I encounter one in need.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Thanks for what you do for others my dear! HUG sent as well for comfort.
