Hurricane craziness

Watching news while I wait for the family to get up. Good news, road's sound to be open out of town to the north. Bad news, it really sounds like it's going to hit Port Arthur. That's the worst case scenario for me.

But hey! I've been looking for an excuse to move north. (trying to look at the bright side)

Take care, sweetie.

The north's not so bad, but the accent's a killer. (trying to look on SJ's bright side)

Sophia Update!!

She's safe.

I have her on the phone now.
She and her family made it two hundred miles north and will be leaving first thing again tomorrow to drive out to stay with her family.

At this point, the real concern is that the hurricane is headed right for her house in Port Arthur.

Keep her and her family in your thoughts.

Thanks everyone!
She said it helps her so much to know that everyone here is watching out for her.

Thank you Logo for letting us know.

Give her all our best, and tell her we are vastly relieved to hear they are far from the coast and safe tonight.

so glad you're safe darlin'!!

Stay so!!

Can't wait to flirt with you again!

Lolo: thanks for the info and the PM. I'll get back to you after the weekend.

Love you, sophie. Thanks, Logo. You're always there. Makes me proud of you.

Stupid quote of the night - "Cameron, LA, you are getting pounded right now." - Weather Channel anchorwoman

If there's anyone in Cameron with access to the weather channel at the moment, I'm pretty damned sure they know they're getting pounded by the hurricane right now.

Cameron is an island in a shallow sawgrass swamp.. about 5 feet above the high tide mark... 2000 people live there... it was destroyed back 1957 and over 400 people killed... there's one road in and out and it's got water on both sides... they know to get out even if the hurricane is only going to be close.... i used to work offshore out of there....

Still waiting to hear from my bro that he's safe, but it is only 3.45 there...he called me yesterday as he was closing up the house, and taking shelter in the rice mill where he works. From the maps, seems the worst has passed him, its the aftermath now.

Selfishly I'm highly relieved it moved north-east away from him.....I've been watching the satellite maps on line, but can't bring myself to switch the tv on yet to see the pictures. I'm not sure what I'll see.

So very very glad to hear that SJ is safe, and that you are still with us Tx.

 to everyone caught up in this hell, in whatever way.

All my love doll!

All my thoughts and prayers are with you. We's all looking out for you. :rose: :rose:

Just heard from my brother. Having spent the last 24 hours in a 'safe' location, is now back home, thankfully he is safe, and his home is intact.

The last minute change in direction to the north east, which meant added heartache to others, considerably diminished any major risk to him.

Awaiting further details.

Hoping any other Literaties and their families are equally safe.

Thanks for letting us know, Mat.
I've been thinking of you and your family!

Having watched the storm from work, (where I happened to watch both of our storms from last year,) I am hoping all of my friends are okay. I'm glad to see that Rita dropped her wind speeds to a "mere" 120 MPH. (Same as Jeanne last year.) Please let me know how y'all make out.

Logo - tks for the update; been so tied up in everything, barely checked in on the poets impacted and when I finally thought to check here, SJ was already getting set to flee. Wanton Vixxxen also sends her regards and we're hoping she finds little damage on her return home - Port Arthur was so close to landfall.
