Talked to Sophie last night.
She said to tell everyone hi and that she loves you all.
I relayed our rescue plans (dreamed up in the Last thread yesterday) and it made her laugh, a lot.

It will most likely be at least a month before she can go home. She has no idea what shape her home is in, or if her ex-husband will have work when they get back again. Her kids are still feeling like this is a vacation, so that's the best news.

Thanks, Logo. Sophie is dear to us. She and the kids are having an adventure, so far, not a tragedy, so that's good. This is such bad news, all this shit. The expense, the uncertainty, the loss of irreplaceable things.

It would be easier to be a laissez faire pure capitalist like Ami. He could justify leaving them all to fend for themselves. A network like Lit is fairly impotent to help in most cases; we're too thin on the ground. The networks people have make all the difference, you know? And in today's world, we move all the time. Sophie is in our hearts, but she will need more than that, ultimately.

Right now I'm planning on staying off the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

I have a flight to Youngstown later. I'll take over the driving, while Abs can sleep it off in the back.

We had Katrina evacuees here in Dallas for a couple weeks, a psychiatrist and her seven year old son. At least I tried to convince the neighbors they were evacuees from New Orleans and that the good doctor hadn't come on a house call. I don't think they're convinced.
