SJ... if you're over east of Houston then go North to jasper and cut across the lake to La. then North to shreveport.... Pick up I20 there and head for Alabama... Longer that way but clear also...

Unfortunately, any direction you go, you're in for a long drive if you want to clear the danger zone. If I were you, I'd head west and keep going on I-10 until I got to El Paso or Pheonix.

My next choice would be to take US-59 to Laredo and possibly continue on into Mexico at least as far as Monterey -- that route takes you to the "weak" side of the storm and below the probable path of the storm, since almost every late change in direction is likely to be north and east the best choice to my mind is to go south and west.

Of course, going southwest from Houston means you have to cross the storm's probable path and risk a breakdown stranding you there, but if you leave early tomorrow that shouldn't be a big concern.
