Very cool indeed, do you remember me posting this "Ranging from sake cups with translucent glazes that a courtesan can be viewed in if the base is held up to light to be used for traditional drinking games, right through to the grand finale of one of my Japanese formal wedding kimono which hangs on the living room wall just to the right of where I am sitting currently.

Mine are sake cups part of a set and have a different face in the bases. I never have seen them done in cups as you have before. They are not antiques in the biblical sense but reasonable collectibles. The Dealer I bought mine from said they were made and marketed for 'Westerners'. Hehe you know John Wayne etc etc. Thank you for posting those pictures , really made me smile. The Dragon itself Miss Fury is the glaze/relief raised ?

The thing I learned tonight which gives me immense pleasure is the term is 'Lithophane' for the images in the base of our sets. Having worked in ceramics its instinctual to realise how they were acheived but I never considered it would be easy. Which as it turns out it isn't......YAY I was right about something.

There are many on e-bay btw, that are not that expensive. I get the idea not all of them have the lithophanes so you can have Dragonware without. I'd want to watch out for that! Some of the Dragonware I see has dragons that look much more raised than mine. They look really cool. I may put more of them on my wish list, but then again, I don't need more "stuff." LOL.

moi Okay I confess I did not read you as being "dirty" when you wrote it delightful Miss Fury . Some obscure way reminded me of my best friend Jodie when we were in the first year of Highschool. We were both developing 'boobs' and used to tease each other and laugh alot together. She used to call me 'cupcakes' I used to call her 'pancakes'..........laughs..smiles.
