<snip>I mean, we're talking about a country where you have to go on a public list as a sex offender for the rest of your life for having sex with your 16 yo girlfriend but once you serve your time for murder nobody has to know that you don't want to tell.

Yep, in the good ol' US of A we thing sex is worse than murder.

-B

That's true. I've always thought it was crazy that parents worry more about their kids seeing a loving sex scene than all the macabre violence they are exposed to.

However, as far as the penalties such as being on a list of sex offenders, I don't disagree depending on the circumstances. I really think a true sex offender should be put down like a deranged animal.

One problem these days is that many who are classified as sex offenders are nothing of the kind. Having kid porn on thier computer doesn't make them such unless they took the pictures or participated in abusing a child. Sadly there are many ways for child porn to get on a computer these days and it's all too easy to set someone but even if they look at such things I'm not sure what the statistics say about how likely it is that they will DO such things.

There are some schools of thought that looking at porn actually helps sate and lower the likelihood someone will do that or other things and therefore it is a safe outlet. Some groups say it will legitimize and make it more likely a person will do such things. I simply don't know.

This much I do know, someone who has sex with an underage child statistically is going to do so over and over again with the possibility of leaving trauma in many children's lives.

That of course is different from the 16-18 year old boy having consensual sex (in fact, if not legally) with his girl friend.

Murderers on the other hand are often situational only and won't do it again. This makes them fairly safe in society.

The rate of committing the same crime in either case and many others is often connected to the sex drive of the person. If it takes making a child a victim to get him or her going they WILL do it again. If it takes snuffing out a life to get that person going they WILL do it again. Those people should be taken out period IMO.

Pain meds?

I don't know why you are on pain medication, Raven. However, I'll offer a few images in an effort to distract you from any discomfort.....

i'm a little confused. Was the girlfriend the drunk 17 year old claiming rape, or the underaged 15 year old bukkake queen?

Hi AA!

I didn't read any news story posted on here so I can't answer that question, sorry. Perhaps someone else can.

I do know what I, (a very good girl,) was like at 16 though. No one who spent time with me then should, IMO be on considered a sexual predator, they were all fine gentlemen.

*winks*

Okay first of all this caught my eye:

"Atlanta attorney B.J. Bernstein . . ." LMAO! No seriously the lady has people call her BJ? That's just soooo professional.

Next, talk about a series of dumb ass mistakes. A football player huh, what would one expect? *shakes head*

First you are fucking a girl who is either drunk off her ass or possibly drugged. He beat those charges in spite of being stupid enough to not only participate in this debacle but tape it. That is practically a miracle right there. Thinking you are "special" and can not possibly be convicted of something like this is stupid and epidemic in this country, IMO.

The charges on the 15 year old and oral should not have been brought but of course do fit the legal definition of rape. The fact that this young man with so much promise might spend ten years in jail is pretty horrible. The idea that he will be on a child sex list for life is also terrible assuming both girls truly were in fact, (if not legally) consenting.

The concept of 'Doing What's Right' and him knowing that "No Mean's No," mentioned in the story are pretty things but there is no concrete "right" for a horny teen and no way to verify that he does know and respect the later statement either. Kids just tend to not think .

I pity his single mother. She had him on the right track. He was going to go somewhere and make her proud. This is sad.

and why i won't cry any tears for this "gifted" individual. We've got enough Kobe Bryants and Mike Tysons in this country as it is. Add those that don't quite make stellar stupid status, and i agree with your assessment.

*grins*

Thank you AA, I'm glad to see we think alike in this matter.

I had an idea though. As part of sex education these lil boys should be taught to only fuck mature women who are NOT drunk. That way they will get a better education, can tape it and if things go bad, she gets prosecuted.

LMAO.

Nothing I can add that hasn't already been eloquently stated above accept that the young 'lady' in question has some seriously bad karma heading her way as she learns to live with the fact that this young man will spend the next 10 years of his life in prison which is tragic.

I must say "And in Georgia, that they'd had oral sex made matters worse. Until 1998, oral sex between husband and wife was illegal, punishable by up to 20 years in prison." absolutely astounds me. When was this legislation passed ?

We have more the opposite issues in Australia laws that don't support our policeforce when real crime (albeit matter of moral and social perception) take place and judges that wrist slap juveniles when real horror takes place.

Well there goes my silly playful mood for today......gone I think.

I never understood why the legal consequences has never been a manditory part of Sex Education. Seems the focus for sex ed is to make girls aware of the consequences of having sex and are forced to deal with the responsibilities of such at a much younger age than boys. Boys sex ed consist of nothing more than use a condom and becareful not to spread STD's.

Perhaps if the legal ramifications were clearly taught, boys would be also forced to deal with the responsibilities and consequences at a much earlier age.

I realize that teenagers do things which are against the law etc...etc... but I wonder how many would make smarter choices if they fully understood the ramifications, especially as they near their junior and senior year in high school.

One of the things 17 year old boys don't seem to realize is that girls under the legal age of consent think its safe as long as the girl says she wants to. What they don't realize is, if the parents find out, it is the parents that can charge the boy with rape/molestation and the girl doesn't even get a say.

I think the problem is that most parents don't teach their children the legal ramifications...they only focus on the moral and health issues as well.

I am going to ask a school teacher here this afternoon does sex education in Australia include legal ramifications . Sounds wise.

The thing that concerns me however is that young adults more at risk are in fact the ones living already with social disadvantages in the community. They don't get much school , they don't have to many postive role models ..........they hardly ever exist to most people here untill the crime hits the news. Victems themselves initially all to often soon become a large proportion of the criminal culture in our society.

Perhaps after this individual loses his court appeal (and the media reports it), the next "gifted individual" will think twice before letting the "little head" do the thinking for him. If not, oh well ...

I just talked to both of my girls...one is 16 and the other 13...I showed them both the article and explained basically what happened.

They were shocked and amazed.

I asked them if ever once.....did they ever learn about the possible legal ramifications about this? Both of them shook their heads and told me they had no idea whatso ever.

It made me realize that I never talked to my children about the legalities of this, although I am glad that I do enforce a no boyfriend till age 16 rule. I have talked with both of them extensively about the moral and the health issues surrounding choices with sex...and also how it may effect their future so to be wise in the choices that they make. But I admit I have never spoken to them about the legal aspects of it ever.

If I could describe what I saw in their faces...it would be..."a sobering moment". It opened their eyes to a much broader spectrum of responsibility.

I truly believe that teaching the legalies surrounding this issue would go along way in doing good to sober the minds of many.

Not Free but sort of what your looking for

http://www.fileburst.com/pricing.html

You can setup an account an upload files to it, then make links to the files you upload.

Looks like 11.00 setup and then 5 dollars a month. Depending on how much bandwidth you use monthly...it looks like 1.00 per 1 gig of bandwidth. You get 100 MB with the account and 2.00 for each additional 10 meg of storage space.

Storage space refers tot eh amount of space or memory your account has allotted, bandwidth is figured by use. Each time someone listens to a sound file or looks at a pic...their server is actually sending the amount of bytes of the file being heard or listened to. So if you had a 1 meg sound file it can be listened to by 1000 people and that would use up 1 gig of bandwidth.

http://www.webmasterknowhow.com/html/bytecompare.html

Here is a link to help you understand file size and better understand how bandwidth is figured and charged for.

My humble apologies, Rebecca.... not everyone is an LOTR fan, that's clear!

On a different thread, Raven posted that his favorite chapters are The Ride of the Rohirrim and The Battle of Pelennor Fields. So these were not randomly selected images... although perhaps I took your 'no such thing as a hijack' offer to an extreme!

As for that third photo.... ahem... please excuse me, I hate to be technical (or sound obsessive or anything.... ).... but....

Eomer is not really just "cheesecake" (though "Domly" clearly fits  ). He is the nephew of King Theoden in the tale, and later becomes the eighteenth King of Rohan himself.

Karl Urban did a very impressive job in the role, don't you think? :D

I really am sorry about the mini-hijack. Next time I'll send LOTR photos via PM! :rose:
