Hey 'Becca (remembering to not call her, ..'.. (that word) Yuo can come visit Kansas now.

SUMMARY OF ENACTED BREASTFEEDING LEGISLATION KANSAS

Kansas has laws addressing breastfeeding in public, and exemption from jury duty. A mother has the right to breastfeed in any place the mother has a right to be. Jury duty will be postponed for a breastfeeding mother until the mother is no longer breastfeeding.

HOUSE BILL No. 2284, Signed into law on March 6, 2006.

AN ACT relating to breastfeeding mothers; concerning right to breastfeed; jury duty while breastfeeding; amending K.S.A. 43-158 and repealing the existing section.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
Section 1. (a) Breast milk is widely acknowledged to be the most complete form of nutrition for infants, with a range of benefits for infant's health, growth, immunity and development and has also been shown to improve maternal health and bonding in addition to contributing to society at large through economic and environmental gains, it is therefore the public policy of Kansas that a mother's choice to breastfeed should be supported and encouraged to the greatest extent possible.
(b) A mother may breastfeed in any place she has a right to be.
Sec. 2. K.S.A. 43-158 is hereby amended to read as follows:
43-158. The following persons shall be excused from jury service:
(text omitted); and
(e) a mother breastfeeding her child. Jury service shall be postponed until such mother is no longer breastfeeding the child.
Sec. 3. K.S.A. 43-158 is hereby repealed.
Sec. 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the Kansas register.

Shank as much as its wonderful you keep abreast of current events and legislation my dear friend, when I used the term 'nursing' . I meant taking care of a 'patient'.Said 'patient' is my son I was trying to keep out of Hospital and I actually acheived that.....brilliant news Shank ....he actually ate food today for the first time a month, he has been living on Ensure with blended banana, avocado , papaya and yoghurts in all this time.

Today's responsible safety tip:

When doing fireplay, have a fire extinguisher or bucket of sand handy. A bucket of water is not a bad idea either.

I would also recommend the use of a blanket, for two purposes. One to help smother the flames if needed. And two, to hide under when they come looking for you to beat your ass for letting it get out of your control.

I sure missed a few facts when I read that post in a rush without the help of coffee...

All my best wishes to you and your son.

Rebecca, I will provide pet pictures at the earliest possible opportunity; however the computer I use is not my own and I don't have permission to download onto it, so the piccies I have of three kitties sprawled across the living room chair together has to stay quietly on a disc until I can get it onto a computer. :)

My kitty is black. With yellow-green eyes. And very sharp claws that he likes to dig you with when he plays. His name is Nashira. :)

Nothing wrong with cats that is for sure, they don't start to meow when you walk by their fence, they do not jump on you most of the time looking to get petted, and they are fine if you ignore them as they do that to you unless they might want something. :D

How did the search go? Hope you found something. We have adopted two dogs in the last 15 months. One was a stray and the other had been in 7 different places before we got him.

Here are a couple of the stray

Raven, they are gorgeous! Such shiny coats.... :) ...... and I absolutely love the fact that their ears are not cropped.

They look very obedient. You must be a good trainer. ;)

How do you keep them in shape? Do you have a large yard, or take them to a dog park?

TY - The red is Charlie (about 4 years), our newest. Got him in November. Sitting next to him is Raven, our oldest (going on 11) and the head in the foreground is Pippin (about 2). He was the stray. Had him since a year ago December.

They are fairly obedient. The coats come from feeding them good food.
We have a fairly large fenced in back yard and the run in it. We do walk them sometimes.

As for the ears, both my wife and I are totally against doing ears. It is nothing but for cosmetic purposes in most cases and we would never put them through such a thing. In fact she is a Vet and she and her partner will not do ears in their practice.

I agree about the ears and I LOVE dobbies! They are lovely Raven!

I must say my cats are very people centric. They will totally be pissed if you ignore them. I believe people have stereotypes of cats that are not necessarily accurate!

Here is one of mine:

Morning Leeroy , all true ....though I'll admit dogs don't try and sneak in and sleep on your hair in Winter ;) ........waiting for caffiene to kick in here

Awwww thanks Raven for the picture of the bad doggies.....laughs......actually they look sweethearts, it would however take me some adjustment time around them.....I know its the training not the breed.......doberman that attacked me was from the days when dogs were trained to be vicious to protect private homes. Shame this creature actually managed to leave its own usual environment and better it was me and not a small child it attacked.

Awwwwwwwwww look at the lil sooky bubba. Very sweet......smiles

Sook : person or animal who is soft, tame, inoffensive. Hence sooky (adj.) ~ Australian Slang Dictionary ~ http://www.koalanet.com.au/australian-slang.html#S

Unfortunately you misunderstood me. I was off to 'adopt' an 'image' of a pet for Mr Joe Schmoe who has been away from Lit for a while as a welcoming gift. He was in fact one of the first to genuinely welcome me to the Board here Raven a fact I still appreciate. His presence was missed (equally enjoyed contributing art to Mr Assassins Threads).

Speaking of M.I.A. hmmmmn Who has heard from Mr Betticus ?
