"I'm going to finish my damn story!": a support thread

Well, didn't quite do as well as I was hoping this weekend. About 5.2k for both Saturday and Sunday, and my goal was to get 4k on Saturday. Most of it actually came today.

Got them out of the cafe and back to his place, and now I'm trying to balance rom-com energy with the heaviness of a demoness realizing that demon rights advocates view demons the same way PETA views rabbits being experimented on for make up.

Currently at 12k for this story. I have my work cut out for me if I want to get this in on time for my second Valentine's Day entry. Probably another 5k, finish up the scene at his place, get them to go to dinner, where the foxxubus will hit her nadir, then back to his place where there will (probably) be tender sex and affirmations about her status as a conscious being who deserves kindness and love. No idea what the ending is going to be. Gonna have a big think on it.

Today I added another thousand words. Not the sex scene, but the bridge to the final act. My heroine is fortified by the love of her mentor and her lover - and armed with a magic dagger given her the one and a cricket bat lent her by the other - she sets out to face a murderous demon.

i can understand. I recently finished my longest story (19k). I sat on it for a few days to decompress from that tale, while I started work on another. Sometimes, I don't want to say I get burned out, but I need a break from the characters I've been focused on.

But I did finally get it published! So...one down. Many more to go.

My computer broke. The thing for the 750-word challenge was there, but I lost access to it. I do have it backed up.

Unfortunately, my Valentine's entry wasn't, and all I had was the first draft on my phone, which I'm now editing again FROM SCRATCH!

I don't know if I could make it. My phone is more distracting and it's really difficult to edit here... But my writing speed matched the same writing speed I have on the computer!

I'm back at where my computer decided to give up, but editing on the phone is extremely painful. Still broken, morale is low, but the story is being edited and almost at 50% done.

I admire the students that I've had who didn't have a computer and did their papers on the phone.

Ooph... Wrote 3700 words today, but only keeping 2400. That's more than a third chucked out. And so I say again, Ooph.

On the plus side, at least I realized I probably shouldn't have a non-con cunnilingus scene in my supposedly rom-com story. Not really something easily forgiven, which ruins the rest of the story. My brain keeps trying to make this story dark and raw, when it needs to be dark and heartfelt. Angst, thou art a pain in mine own side!

But now I have a big floofy foxxubus. Like a big ol' dark marshmallow. So cute.

Café scene, done. Watching a movie, darkness, plus floofiness, done. Time for a nice dinner out! (Speciesism, here we come!) And then, sweet, tender, foxy, finally consensual sex.

Finished up a couple of small scenes this morning, up to 55.4k. Two scenes left to finish, both sex scenes. One is the big group scene in chapter 5 that I have all mapped out. The other is in the last chapter and I need to brainstorm it to figure out how it goes. Maybe I will finish the draft by the end of the month after all.

Revised a couple of scenes that needed it, maybe 300-400 words added. Then my system froze, had to reboot and the safety file refused to recover. So had to search around and see what was missing for me to re-revise. I did the one scene but not the other because I ended up fleshing out the group sex scene at the end of chapter 5. That added a couple thousand words, so up to 57.5k

So I have to go back and re-revise that other scene (it was good stuff too, dammit) at the end of chapter 6, then write the whole ending to the last chapter, of which I have one single note slug for. So I'll have to brainstorm the logistics of it first. Then the draft will done. I have no beta readers for this one so I'm on my own for the read throughs and edits, but that will be on hold because I have a deadline for Tainted Love and I need to get going on that. I have a detailed outline for it.

Haha! 3k today. Got the dinner scene (with pigs!) done. We're at heartfelt admissions prior to the sweet, tender sex this foxxubus deserves for once. I'd love to get this finished on Thursday so I have enough time to edit it and cram it in on the last day for submitting Valentine's Day stories. Maybe 3k left, 4k tops.

I'm also now on my second hundreds-of-years-old otherworldly being really digging pizza. But, I mean, who doesn't like pizza?

I went into this thinking it'd be 10-15k, looking like it'll be over 20k. Go figure. Went to a darker, rawer place than I thought it would. That seems to be a pretty common theme among my erotica: dark, raw, emotional, but also sweet and funny.

This morning I woke up when my partner went to the bathroom. Lying awake, knowing I would have to get up shortly, I figured out the final confrontation of my story. If I do it right, it will tie up loose ends and feel as if it was always intended to be this way.

I have already written 400 words tonight. I hope to add the rest before I go to bed.

So, 2600 words today, 2000 for the stripping, kissing, and oral (not all of it's action, there's dialogue, banter, a bit of reflection, but definitely a heaping helping of smut). Well, all that's left is cowgirl and sappy ending + epilogue. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Might even get to do some editing! (Okay, let's not go crazy...)

Haha! I DID finish my damn story! 2700 words to get to the end, so more or less in line with what I was thinking, though the sex scene did chew up another 1500, so, yeah, indulgent. Literally as long as my first Valentine's Day submission, but completed in a little over half the time.

About half of it edited so far, hoping to get it submitted sometime tomorrow.

And once it's submitted, I no longer have any excuse to not work on chapter 6 of my series. Longest gap I've had between chapters to date, really ought to get back to it. That'll be my next installment of "I'm going to finish my damn story a support thread."

I'm 800 words into a surprise birthday gift for my friend/RP partner. Gotta have this done by the 14th.

I want to hit at least 1,000 words today. Don't know how long it'll need to be in the end, but that's a good round number for today. I've got a bunch of random paragraphs that need connecting to each other, I've been going all over the place and just filling in what comes to mind.
