I did one of those crashes where the tip of one ski and the tail of the other are just embedded in the snow. Took me a few minutes to figure out how to get out of that one.
I don't remember what caused my crashes, just the incidences afterward. I learned great humility that day

never skied but loved snowboarding in Tahoe and nagano.
Can’t remember how I started but pretty sure I was as elegant on a snowboard as I am trying to smooth talk someone in a bar
:ROFLMAO: Not sure anyone has that skill. The speed made me nervous, so I did the skis. I had the choice. It was a snowboarder who saved me from the snowmaker. So embarrassed! The two kids he was teaching were just whipping through it like pros. I asked him how long they've been at it and he told me 2 hours. Oh to be resilient as a kid when learning new things.

I cycle and ski, love being in the trees, no one typically around, peaceful and quiet.
I pretty much gave up road cycling other than an occasional triathlon or TT event. 95% of my bike stuff is in the forest for the reasons you mention. Also why I like XC skiing. I'm usually one of the first cars in the lot and many times can ski for a few hours without seeing anyone until I get back close to the lodge.

Still hitting blacks at 50mph giant slalom, love carving out the turns feeling the grip on the edge, so close to release, but only when no one else around.

I can't do mountain or downhill biking due to my back, so I stick to our trail system, over 500 miles here.

Maybe I will try this next time

The skill I was speaking of at first was the bar comment.

This actually sound like so much fun, but I will probably never have the chance to do it. I will live vicariously though you like I do in so many other ways

The bumps? Gravity slams are the worst when happening repeatedly. I wish we had weather to hit the trails. Very few days we can. If you go on an off season (the 11 months of heat), you have an angry mob of skeeters chasing you.

Good morning, yourself, IS! Are things getting back to normal any your way?
