indiana

Bump back at ya....been incognito...

Just thought I would take this opportunity to holla back at-cha from my field of CLOVERS....In a small town in INDIANA! SMILE and wave boys... smile and wave! :D

Life exists in Indy, maybe...???

I'm an older guy in Indianapolis.

Given the very large number of males around here, the large number who remember where there were when Kennedy was shot, and the minute number of females, I fear branding as one of those "dirty old men". The kind women abhor, not the kind who ought to be national treasures.

BTW...

A search of the archives shows a "litogether" in Indianapolis a couple of springs back. I can't tell if it happened, and no one came, or if it fell apart from lack of response.

Apparently, being a Hoosier at Lit means staying under deep cover!

"WOW !! What a great beginning to the re-birth of this thread"

Do You know why Laprechauns laugh when they run through the grass? Because it tickles their NUTS!!!! (horrible) lol.... Heard it this morning in my "field of clovers".. :nana:

-"lonely and dreaming of the west coast"

I don't know if the litogether ever happened or not myself...

Funny you should mention being a "Hoosier at Lit means staying under deep cover".... Do you think we all have a lot to hide.... and our "Super Ego's" get in the way of the ID, and Ego? I play in my field of clovers, and have for years... I let my ID take over toooooo much!

We thought about going to GLLA ... but work kinda got in the way. Such is life, right? Figures that it's only about 30 min away and I have to work ...

"mmm... leather... can I SUBMIT?"

Gosh I have been out of the loop for sooo long...

-"She'll tell You she's an Orphan, after You meet her family"

"Howdy dis-located HOOSIER'S"

Coming from California, the conservitism of this place (really shouldn't) astounds me. The next county over was the last place in Indiana to do a lynching, and I believe it was within my lifetime.

Several cities opted out of county wide incorporation because their schools would end up integrated (as if they didn't!)

And my vocabulary of metephors...

I once used the phrase "nobody's ugly at 2AM" to refer to getting something, anything out the door. I got slapped across the face.

INDIANA = Basketball, religion (Take your pick... we have em all..even practicing cults), conservitism..(even among far-left democrats), Farming (corn, soybeans, live stock...OH.. don't forget marijuana... ask Tom Petty.. he'll tell ya all about us) alot of law enforcement, I guess because we're the "cross-roads of america" and not only are we a big "melting pot"...we have some great chemist here who think it's cool to roll around with their meth labs in the trunk of their cars, ... and let's not forget... any type of weather you could imagine, doesn't matter what season it is.

Now I may not have been around when Kennedy got shot..(although both my parents made sure I knew where they were when it went down..!)

BUT... I can tell you where I was when INDIANA got integrated... I lived in the begining of Marion County Suburbia... "KKK" members burned crosses on my high school football field... not just one.. but several.... Some even had stuffed dummies hung from them to look like african americans... I was ashamed for the adults who had done it...I guess I should have expected it considering just years earlier in a neighboring county a young black girl was merely selling bibles and was found murdered because of her skin color... apparently an entire town new who had done it, but no one ever came forward until a fews years ago.. (those HIDING HOOSIERS)...

My favorite phrase is "I had my beer goggles on"..... That's how I explain most of my young adult years... (She winks)

-"It's 3AM, I Must Be Lonely."

Tipton and Elwood were full of klan members. The national headquarters were here and so was the grand dragon.

Elwood was still having KKK rallies 2 or 3 times a year when I was in high school (graduated in '96), and New Palestine still bares the marks of the KKK - their mascot is the Dragon. I used to have more info on that kind of thing (wrote a paper about it in college ... no one believed me that not only was the KKK still that active but so was the Black Panther Militia).
I can't remember when the last clan rally was, but I think it's been at least 5 years (I'm hoping .... I have been praying since I was 10 that the KKK would just vanish - the world doesn't need that kind of hatred).

So can we talk about something more pleasant now? Like who is going to come mow my lawn now that it's rained and the stupid grass is growing again ...

Reminds me of life in Texas, just outside the city limits.

One went in with 11 neighbors and bought a goat. Each month the goat was tethered in a different yard.

The results were a big property tax exemption, as you could claim your 1/2 acre+ as actively agricultural.
