had all of those and would have to agree with your taste assessment. Adding to the list, elk has a very strong taste, not unpleasant, but it is definitely wild gamey meat. Rabbit is actually the only one I've found that tastes a lot like chicken, but there again, it depends on the way its prepared.

and whether it was wild or raised.....

oddly enough, though I live close to an elk farm, I have never had domestically raised elk meat, but i would imagine that it would affect the taste due to a set diet. Hmm, I might have to go buy some just so I can do a comparison lol.

actually i was thinking of the rabbit...it never occured to me that there would be domesticated elk....

ahhh that works, i've had both, but my taste buds might have been a bit off as I dont remember any big differences.

Elk farms are a fairly new thing out here I believe, but because I'm in the prairies, we dont see a lot of them that you can go hunting for, so I guess they came up with an alternate solution.

I wonder if any one else is understanding these posts....or cares....well, it is the insomnia thread, maybe it is putting people to sleep!

Lol, who knows, but its better than trying to count sheep...or shoot them on that other site lmao.

Squirrel...thats one I havent had the opportunity to try yet lol

I am told that is why North Carolina Brunswick stew is so spicey....to cover the taste of gamey squirrel....not they just use pork....

now snapping turtle...that tastes NOTHING like chicken....

you mean you've never had squirrel stew? lol, well me neither :)

snapping turtle...yet another one that is beyond my expirience lol

But, ostrich does taste a lot like chicken, just a little stronger. (which would be the most exotic thing I have eaten lol)

isnt the ostrich head a little sandy?

I've been told bear meat is good but a little greasy, I kinda wanna try it lol.

Find out where it was shot...you do NOT want to eat a bear that has been eating fish! i can promise you that...unless you are a bigger masochist than i can imagine you being....

Lol never had ostrich head, never given an ostrich head for that matter, so I dont know about sand content in that spot. :D

Bear meat, I know people who have said both-greasy/not greasy, I think mostly its in the way it's prepared, as most things are.

hehehe, well I'm not a masochist at all, although you've piqued my interest, why not eat a bear that has been eating fish?

Because it will be the nastiest tasting thing you will ever put into your mouth....and i can imagine some pretty nasty tasting things!

Nastier than brussels sprouts? Eeeewwwwwwwww! I realize it's a bit early for an official insomnia report, but well, I'm already bouncing off the walls.

Well i actually happen to like brussel sprouts...but not fish-eating bear, if that tells you anything....

Brussel sprouts are an aquired taste for me...I aquire the taste when pregnant, but that would be the only time lol

I love brussel sprouts. They're one of my favorite foods. :D I also like liver. There are very few foods I don't like, but pears is at the top of the list. yuck.

Liver, but not pears?

Oh the humanity of if all!

How can someone not like pears?

Brussels sprouts AND liver, but not pears? You're so weird, Grace. In a good way, but weird.

For me, it's a texture thing - ever pear that I've ever tasted has been mushy, but grainy ... and that's just gross.

I don't like pears either, nasty things. Then again I'm not much of a fan of fruit in the first place.
