Insomniacs Unite (by request)

At 3:45 a.m., lying in bed trying to sleep, leg or legs twitching, contemplating whether, if I cut my legs off with a chainsaw, would the twitches go away, or just migrate to another part of my body.... <Sigh>

Yikes!

Lol, a rather drastic measure, Sir Winston. Uhm, how about some chammomile?

Unfortunately, the twitches would probably not only not go away, but wouldn't migrate to anywhere that they could actually be treated. Phantom muscle twitches/spasms happen just like phantom limb pain ... I would definitely advise against removing any body parts.

Have you seen the doctor about the twitching yet?

i was told by my doc that the leg thing could be caused by blood pooling in or around your calf muscles or some weirdness like that. Touching toes and a few leg lifts or some stuff like that before bed helps.

You know, restless leg if you have it really sucks. I am so sorry to hear about that. However, being a lifelong non-sleeper practically dracula-like, it is nice to come on here, and see that sexy tush in your avatar KC -- ooooo la la :)

When I've been on predisone for a few months I have trouble with restless leg syndrom. Every time I start to drift off my leg jerks. I totally feel for you Sir W.

allright, I give up! I'm off to stare at my bedroom cieling for a few hours. Grrrr

Looks like I missed you with about an hour

Night Person

Well, it's almost 5 AM, Saturday night-Sunday morning. I work at night, 5 days a week, Sunday to Thursday. I have Friday and Saturday off. I just can't sleep at night anymore. That doesn't bother me, I operate on nocturnal hours better anyway. It drives my wife nuts. Even tonight, I was exhausted, but I only slept about 2 hours, then woke up again. I usually only sleep about 5 or 6 hours anyway; any more and I'm dragging all night.

ugh

4am... and awoke w/ a nasty migraine developing over the opposite eye than where it usually does which makes it all the more disturbing!

Anyway, good morning, welcome to my 4am.... whhoo hoo!

:) Smiling thru the pain...

(Yes, am backing away from the bright light of the computer screen, trust me)

Poor you! I hate my migraines. They don't bother me very often or very bad though. And the last one was actually pretty kind on me. As far as migraines go... It only arrived in the afternoon (strange things happen), made me use the bathroom on the train on the ride home a couple of times, but was gone the next morning. :)
Anyhow, if you don't have the special migraine killing medicines (my mom uses some she has to inject that work very well), there is nothing really you can do... Just wait for tomorrow and all will be well again! :rose:

For the past couple of weeks Master has been having insomnia badly, enough that He has actually been awake all night on a couple of occasions and getting about 2 hours on most of the others. Only one night has He managed to get a bit more than that. He has trouble sleeping anyway but it's much worse lately. Even His usual remedy (a few cones of the green stuff) isn't working, though He says it makes being awake a bit more fun!

He sends me to bed ("no sense in both of us being awake") and He comes in between 3 and 5 am. Usually it's getting light by the time He falls asleep and then He is hard to get motivated to take His meds and eat (being diabetic it's essential He takes insulin and eats at regular times). He'll hit the wall in the afternoon and crash out for an hour or two and then be wide awake later in the night......*throws up hands*

thanks...

Thanks... I've got the meds... and can usually overcome them w/o going to the Emergency Room.

Well, I had a good time last night w/ my insomnia... I stayed up most of the night and chatted online w/ a new friend. Put a new, positive spin on the issue for me.

I think there is such a thing as Master induced insomnia...if so, I am a hapless victim buahahahahahahahahahah.

I really wanted to sleep tonight, but I've got the worst bug in my brain about a thread that used to be here and I can't find it for the life of me!
I can't even remember the woman's name that started it. I just remember that she had some old scars on her back and wanted to cover them with a tattoo. I even remember her affiliation with another person that frequents this forum, and I still can't find it. Grrrr... There was a picture of an amazing back piece, and I'm desperate for a picture of it.
*sigh*
Why can't Bio-Organic Chemistry capture my attention and focus this way?

Thta was dolf. I don't remember the name of the thread, but she was going to get a tatoo of angel's wings to cover the scars on her back. Hope that helps.

Also, here's the pic:

Thank you so much, graceanne.

I was able to locate the thread, but the attachment I was looking for is no longer there, unfortunately. I'll keep looking, though. I really appreciate your help.

p.s. The wings are lovely. :rose:

4am

I must subconsciously like 4am a lot...

fell asleep w/o sleeping pill tonight...but here I am visiting 4am again. I just don't get a good quality of sleep when I don't take my little round friend. (Well, actually, it is more like a blunted oval shape).

Blather, blather, blather.

need more Z's!

(Yawn)

I miss sleep.

Me too, though I'm not insomniac - the round the clock treatments Master needs are taking their toll a bit. I had to go have a 2 1/2 hour nap this afternoon because I just seemed to hit a wall of tiredness. I was never like this when my children were babies, I could never sleep during the day. But now I close my eyes and I'm off to dreamland in 5 minutes flat

Must be getting old

Its 3.30 am here in UK,

I am bored, can't sleep and don't want to do anything that involves thinking.

I am thinking of starting a thread where thinking is banned, but I can't as that involves thinking :(

Have read the joke thread, even wandered down the hall to the GB (I told you i was bored), but I am still awake and bored, very bored.

Due to the other meds I take for my heart condition, I need a sleeping pill to get the rest I need.

I have tried them all, and while some worked better than others, I was always waking up in a fog, and not feeling well rested.

There have been some new sleep aids released, and I tried them,

Ambien worked very well, but I would sleep walk under their influence (a known side effect), and it caused some slightly dangerous situations, for example, I actually cooked in the middle of the night, and left the burner on for hours, and with no recollection the next morning.

I have recemtly started using Lunesta, this aid is fantastic, once taken within 20 minutes I am off to a wonderful and deep sleep. I had found with most sleep aids, you don't dream, and you kind of just check out for 8 hours. Not so with this new drug, I wake up rested, not feeling groggy, and clear headed.

Talk to your Doctor, ask him to let you try it, it has done wonders for me.
