I love the river idea, Calvin, but I think we may lose a bunch on this one because of distance. However, I'd definitely consider going down to a Portland-area event (isn't BBWetKitty planning one as well?), as I'm sure would others, so maybe that'd be a good option? Mid- to late- summer is usually best for water activities, so perhaps doing it then, and Seattle earlier would work?Calvin said:Well... I know I added my vote to the poll but I guess I never said that I was in... altho I sure like the idea of Portland in the summer by the river so I could bring the jetski's and have maybe a couple of boats there as well....
Additionally... if we do decide to do this... we can put a hidden page with all the details on it as to where... directions... etc, etc on my web site and pass out the link to the people coming....
anyway... whatever....

I'm really excited for that reason, too!Azuldrgon said:I really can;t wait for the Lit-together since i have only talked to a few people here. Just the chance to put the personality with the person would make it worth it.

I think the hidden page (are you thinking password protected as well?) would be perfect, and appreciate your offer to do that for us!![]()
Thanks, swtcum...I was just thinking about this thread last night, wondering if anyone had suggestions for places.swtcum said:Bump to the top![]()
A Saturday meet and greet type of thing: maybe meeting in a neat restaurant or someplace late-afternoon/early-evening, chatting, having dinner, and then going to one or more bars/clubs/nightspots. Obviously we don't have a solid plan at this point, which is why I've been begging for input.oddity83 said:I'd be willing to go, if I can score the time off work. Are we talking a meet and greet type thing, how to classes and lectures?
Great looking spot! Thanks for getting the ball rolling. I think we need to work around any holidays like Memorial Day and the 4th of July week. I'm also thinking an initial gathering in April also, with another to follow in Sept or October?eudaemonia said:k, I'm just going to throw out the name of a nice casual place that I've been to with a group of people from another IBB:
Wild Gingerhttp://www.wildginger.net
1401 Third Avenue
Seattle
They were able to accommodate a group of 10 or 12 of us at a big round table in the room on the other side of the satay bar. Obviously, a reservation is necessary. Nice thing about this place is you can order small or large plates to share (or not, as you please). Very nice upstairs bar if we decided to do a meet and greet there. Alternatively, we could meet at a hotel lobby bar for a cocktail meet and greet, and then those who want to continue on to dinner may do so.
Just an idea to get the ball rolling ...
Oh, and my only wish is that this be on a weekend in april or may, or august or september.![]()

You really are a sweetie for taking this on . My thoughts .The only way for you to work out the logistics is for you to pick a time and place and format that work well and make sense to and for you. Everyone else will have to work within those parameters. Having to work everyones schedules and desires into the mix just doesn't work. Or choose a small group and see what they come up with. And just stick with it. Those that really want to come ,will find a way if they can. It's hard enough any more to meet four people for lunch ,nowadays ,with everybodies schedules. No one would resent your choice/choices. I think that is the only way it would work.
My only other thought is since 90% of the people will be from the Puget Sound Area ,you would get the biggest turnout in that area.(Spokane area person here,But I will make it if at all possible.). That may help narrow your selections.
I know it'll come to making "executive decisions" or it won't happen at all, but was hoping some would make suggestions because I'm NOT well-versed in Seattle places that are suitable for groups, and would rather give everyone a chance to have a say.
I haven't been to Wild Ginger, but have heard wonderful things about it. I'll email the contact on their website to see how they might handle a group larger than 12 or so, but it looks like a great preliminary location.
Yikes...I'm just getting back to this!eudaemonia said:Okay, I'm going to throw out a date just to keep the thread flowing:
April 7-9.
What about a cocktail hour somewhere on Friday evening, the 7th, well after banking hours for those who have other plans for the weekend, and then maybe an early Saturday evening (5:30-ish?) gathering at Wild Ginger for satay and small-plates (before it gets insanely packed and loud)? Then those who want to take off to enjoy the night life may do with ample time for each activity. Maybe even find a brunch spot on Sunday for those who are still hanging around and don't have to drive or fly home til early afternoon. That way everyone who wants to come will have several chances to meet up with others.
