I don’t know why it’s like this here, but our company did something similar. And then there were HR emails telling everyone they had to make their picture work appropriate and had to include you in it. Originally we were supposed to request our ID picture taken by security to use. They offered to retake photos. Eventually they were like “yeah, just use whatever but make sure it’s safe for work.” I used a low lit photo from a birthday dinner. It was the best I had at the time and I didn’t want to use my security badge photo as it was taken at the end of the day after my makeup started to not look as good. I wasn’t willing to ask for a new photo though because I was thinner in the original. Thinking about it, it was pretty much an annoyance I eventually complied with because all the alternatives were more work.
