Thanks.

I will say it took him getting sick to get us here. We've only been together 5 years. He got sick in year two. I'd like to think we'd have gotten to this point eventually, if things were normal. But the sick part cuts through a lot of the bullshit I used to get my undies in a bunch over.

I will second this, at least in general. My life followed a similar path at one point.

Generally anxious and irritated. Too much shit in my lap that used-to-not-be-mine. More proof that I can survive a power vacuum, but really, REALLY don't like it. The objective is wonderful, the meanwhile sucks moldy balls.

I have been in a super good place recently so the need to release valve some emotion yesterday, though I saw it coming, was frustrating. This morning after a good sob of ...release and tension; not sadness or anything negative. The day seems bright and cheerful. Even though yesterday was crisp and sunny and today is dull.

The occasional tension relieving, emotional release valve sob is very underrated as a form of self care I think.

The valve on my emotion tap is a bit rusty- I tried to turn the knob but the knob fell off. Now I'm hopping up and down trying to catch the attention of a plumber but they all seem to be busy with mushrooms and spiky turtles.

Yep, my phone is telling me it feels like -11. For this kind of suffering, you'd think at least we would get to have dinner at Seela's house once in a while.

Yo. It's -13 F here. Not feels like, but it legit is -13. Feels like -23.

We could meet somewhere in the middle somewhere less nippy and I'll cook dinner there. :p

I just got back home and for masochistic and fatass reasons I walked instead of taking the tram. There were people skating. I had to stop and take a picture, my hands are still frozen. :)

The middle is everyone comes to Florida and no one freezes their tits off.

Instead I'll sweat my tits off and burst into flames like a proper vampire. :p

But I'd hopefully get to see manatees before it, so it'd be ok.

Come in the "winter time" and it should be perfect summer weather for you. :D

I don't remember what time of year, but my uncle lives on a canal that gets regular visits from manatees. You can have an up close special viewing. :)

We were fortunate enough to spend the last two winters (four months Jan - April) in Florida. The home we were in was on a canal as well - it was really special. No manatees but lots of alligators!

It's one degree here. A heat wave compared to the last two days.

I'm Florida dreaming!

 The idea of anyone actually coming here makes me draw blanks in actual fun things to do. We are the theme park capital of the world, but that's not really something I think is all that interesting.

Well, let's hope it's winter when they flock there. It would be so great to see manatees. Seeing you would be close second. :p;)

I'm easy. Take me to a supermarket and I can spend hours there just browsing through the isles seeing what's what. And weren't you some kind of craft beer oasis too?

Honestly though, I think it's always difficult to figure out what to show people who come visit me. I think there's so little to see here, and in the end it's always the small, mundane things that stand out the most anyways. The things that weren't planned.

Here they offer guided supermarket tours to Asian tourists. Seriously. They have a few supermarkets they usually take the tourists to, and it's always so funny to see Japanese people flocking on the produce section and look with wide eyes how everything is not prepackaged and how you have to weigh your produce yourself and get the price sticker. They seem to love doing that. :D

Assume every body of water has gators in it, it's safer that way. I don't understand this one degree thing. Does not compute. (・・?)
Ok, why not. I travel now :D
 Sorry, missed this. Florida is a popular travel destination. ;)

Just checked, winter time is their favorite time to be here. I'm ok with being second best.

Supermarkets would be fun. :) We don't have any tours that I know of though.

I imagine the Japanese tourists were going crazy over the prices. Fruit is often really expensive in Japan and typically given as a gift so in the markets you'll see produce available in a grab your own sort of way, but the fruit is usually packaged nicely for gifting.

Yeah, could be. They have seemed to be very fascinated by apples and bananas, and all of them love weighing the produce and getting the price sticker.

Do you know why fruit is so expensive there? Don't they grow any? I read in a magazine about the Japanese fruit and veggie carving thing. They interviewed a Japanese woman who lives in Finland and she said her favorite vegetable to carve is beet, but beets can cost about 3 euros a piece there. Here I buy them at 1-2 euro a kilo.
