Its gone up to 98%

wanna bs

I don't class fakes and "wannabes" together: the motivation is quite different. We were all wannabes at some point, and in many ways, considering how much I still have to learn, I still think of myself that way.

I think thats true for most of us BDSMers the desire to learn, improve, refine and experiment seems to be hot wired into our brains thankfully, otherwise play would get repetitive and boring .

I'm neither a Dom or a sub. I come and read posts in this forum because I write stories on the CHYOO site of lit and in the SRP board where BDSM is involved and lurking here gives me ideas and an insight into the genre. So my opinion comes as an outsider.

The OP isn't what I'd imagine a Dom to be. Someone who runs around whining when things don't go his own way, doesn't really sound like someone in control of himself, let alone someone responsible enough to be given any control of others.

Wouldn't that make him one of the 98% that's he's crying about?

*shrug* We're all human, even those of us who identify as dominants or submissives or switches. We all get upset and angry and frustrated.

Having said that, it can be disillusioning to discover just how human we are and that we suffer all of the faults that other humans do. I remember the day I realised that just because someone was into BDSM didn't somehow mean they were magically free of bigotry and close-mindedness.

You're not somehow implying that those into BDSM would or should be free of bigotry, close-mindedness and general humanity, are you?

Should strive to overcome bigotry and closed-mindedness. People in general should strive to overcome those things.

We should all play nice, however I find should to be a very weak imperative. Should does not suffice, otherwise, we'd all be loving, caring human beings by now, don't you think?

FungiUg : 'I remember when I realised there are fuckwits in BDSM'. The same way you realise there are 70yr olds who have been fuckups their whole lives. This conflicts with the lesson about elder = wiser.

He wasn't implying they were free of bigotry or whatever, but as teachers/mentors/more experienced people, one might hold their views in too high esteem. Fungi said that one day he noticed this wasn't the case.

I neither agree nor disagree with your statement. I don't think it is complete. My last post was tangential, because I didn't read or reply thoroughly enough. Sorry about that.

Oh, I don't think I even began to imply that those into BDSM are free of general humanity.

On the other hand, when you meet a bunch of people who are into fringe sexuality, you'd (i.e. I did) expect them to be a little more open minded and less bigoted than (say) a group of people who are not into fringe sexuality.

Sadly, it's just not so. I mean, if you want an easy example, just think about the implications of the word "vanilla". We are as human (including faults and foibles) as any other bunch.
