Well, the bible thumpers and the GOP certainly haven't cured our problems with trying to create a theocracy. I will add that the socialist democrats, while they have made gains, are not the entire party. The democratic platform is not going to contain things like nationalizing businesses, and can guarantee you that. It might talk about healthcare (something all the GOP has done is not only nothing, they have made it much, much worse for millions of people, and the cost of medicine is soaring and the GOP reaction is "we have the best healthcare in the world", which based on outcomes isn't true; we have highly advanced medicine, but that hasn't led to better health outcomes either), it might talk about the craziness of people being worth a trillion dollars and paying less taxes then a janitor, there is a lot to look at.Instead, they praise the concept of socialism as the miracle cure to all our disappointments.

The raison d'etre of the Republican party is to preserve the integrity of the Constitution. The goal of our form of Government is to provide specific services with enumerated powers to our nation. It is not to "cure our problems" beyond those enumerated powers. Curing problems outside the enumerated powers are the responsibility of: a) states, and/or b) people who wish to address the challenges, preferably outside of government compulsion.Well, the bible thumpers and the GOP certainly haven't cured our problems with trying to create a theocracy. And I will add the GOP talks about socialism too, only they call it "states rights", like government payouts to farmers, subsidizing education and roads and the like in the red states, where states get back 3 bucks for every buck they put in, but that is 'their socialism'.
The constitution says no such thing chief. The constitution was a framework designed to allow the government to operate, the claim that it defined everything is a crock of shit. If it helping the people is up to the states, then why is it the red states take so much from the federal government compared to what they give in? Why is 40% of south carolina's education spending federal money? Why do states like Alabam get 3 bucks for every dollar they send in?The raison d'etre of the Republican party is to preserve the integrity of the Constitution. - I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them - Jefferson
Read the Federalist papers for a proper education. I live in a beachside town in Southern California. The constitution says no such thing chief. The answer is they are fucking hypocrites. Want to know a bill I would love to introduce? The tax fairness act. It states that no state shall receive more back from the federal government than it sends in. In the current model alabama gets 3 bucks, and my state gets 65c. Want to know why that is so? It is because those "low tax states" live off the federal teat.
The founders weren't maga morons, they understood the country would change and they understood the role of the federal government would change too. It is funny, Jefferson wrote that, he and the rest of the southern Planter class, but then he went out and bought the Louisiana territory. The constitution makes no reference to that power, while the executive can make treaties, this went well beyond that. They figured these things would be figured out.
And you know what they call a country that doesn't take care of its people? A third world shithole. BTW, there is wording in the constitution about the common welfare.
And I would bet good money that you live in one of the red welfare states.

I have read the federalist and anti federalist papers. The constitution as enacted was meant as a framework for the new government, this idea that the Founders had this perfect thing they created and expected it to be used down the road exactly as it was is bullshit, the whole Federalist Society idea has been blown to shreds in large part because a supposed Federalist society supreme court is violating their own claims of originality or original intent.Read the Federalist papers for a proper education. Successful women are often targets of petty jealousy and subjected to insinuations that their success wasnāt earned. Especially successful women who marry successful men.
Karolynās success was the result of her initiative, talent, and faith. Started her career at the bottom as an intern in the WH Office of Correspondent Communications, quickly got promoted to assistant director, then communications director for a Congress member, and after an unsuccessful bid for Congress, became the youngest White House Communications Director in US history at age 27.
And now sheās announced that sheās stepping away from her senior position in the White House to become a full time mom, the most rewarding and important job a woman can have. Good for her.![]()

That has nothing to do with the federal government helping people. It is ironic to have a maga /Trump supporter right this with a straight face. The system of checks and balances was there to prevent as you said, one branch having too much power. That said the federal programs you are demeaning were done through the systems of checks and balances. Congressional legislation, federal agency with the authority they were granted by congress, are all quite legal."James Madison, in Federalist No. 51, acknowledged that government is inherently limited by human nature. Madisonās solution was the separation of powers and checks and balances. He believed each branchālegislative, executive, and judicialāshould have its own will and independence, with members appointed in ways that minimize cross-branch influence. This structure would give each department the constitutional means and personal motives to resist encroachments by others "
I think most of what you said is silly emotional rantings not based in fact, but lets go through them. That has nothing to do with the federal government helping people. That said the federal programs you are demeaning were done through the systems of checks and balances. On the other hand Donald Trump has done more damage to checks and balances than any president in US history and it will be lasting. His use of executive orders (which I defy you to show me where the President has that power) has gone well beyond executive power, the stupid bastard issued executive orders about college sports that are not his domain, and not even gonna talk about all the rest. He literally claims the court system is supposed to support him and has attacked judges at will. The supreme court, full of supposed Federalist Society people, have enabled Trump to the Nth degree, when they all claim to hate executive privilege and power, that it should be congress. Then shall we talk about Trump and his engorging himself using the position of president? That is in the constitution and I believe it is in the federalist papers, too.
The founders, federalist and anti federalist, feared a demagogue like Trump, it is why we have the checks and balances, or were supposed to, but when the checks and balances are corrupted, you get Trump. The GOP who screamed about use of executive orders for years, or the use of the ICC to justify federal law, sit there while Trump rules like a king. Even when faced with something like the Iran war, which is so unpopular, they refuse to check Trump when they have the power. And like I said, SCOTUS is the ultimate in hypocrisy, they literally have given Trump license to commit crimes when in office and not be liable for them even when out of office. Their wording on immunity was written deliberately, when they say you cannot charge him for crimes where it involves his duty as president, that has a loophole a mile wide. Trump by executive order has issued rule changes in things like Crypto currencies that have directly benefitted him and his family. If they found that trump gave secret info to the Russians, he couldn't be charged with Espionage. Basically they aren't giving him immunity for example for bombing a school in the course of a war, they are giving him immunity for anything he does as president, which is not what immunity is about..
And of course checks the founders put in to keep someone like Trump out of office have been wiped out. The electoral college was once a check on a demagogue gaining power, that is gone. Senators not being elected directly was deliberate, it would have allowed GOP senators to stand up against Trump and not worry about being primaried by a Trump syncophant (or for that matter, a Democrat to stand up to a democratic president). What has happened under Trump with the supreme court and his use of executive power is the worst abuse of all.
It is funny, I saw some douchebag MAGA dressed like George Washington proclaiming that Trump was like our Washington and i wanted to throw up. Washington when he took office went out of his way to stay within tight bands of power as delimited in the constitution. Washington basically had unlimited power, he was so popular no one would question what he did...yet he didn't. He ceded authority to congress when it was unclear who had the power, and he again used his power only where it was clearly defined. He understood something the GOP who has so enabled Trump don't understand, Washington knew everything he did would establish precedent, would have an impact on the future. Just what impact do you think Trump and what Scotus have done will do with future presidents? And if Scotus with a democratic president uses executive orders in the same area Trump did, and Scotus says you can't, there will be hell to pay, because at that point they are no longer an independent court but a tool of the GOP.
