Evidently my 8 yo has been reading his dad's Stuff magazine in secret. Including the how-to sex articles.

And I'm a little pissed, because I've said many times that those mags needed to be put out of sight of prying eyes. And I'm a little pissed because I don't think 8 year olds need to be reading about threesomes and shaving pubic hair.

Sigh. What happened to the simple things like teaching them how to cross the street?

Yeah, my maxim magazines are up high and out of sight now too...and my Gwen Masters, and Lady Chatterly, etc. My son will be 8 in a few weeks...next comes putting passwords on certain folders in the computer.

I haven't had to worry about the computer because he's not on it without supervision, but evidently he's been checking out the mags before anyone else is up in the morning. Grrr.

I've created a separate user account (under Windows XP) for general use. Basically, there are two accounts on my computer: Imp and Not Imp. Imp is the administrator/owner account and requires a password to launch.

All of the files/folders in the "My Documents" area of the Imp account are inaccessible when a user is logged in as Not Imp. This also encompasses bookmarks saved under IE. In addition, individual files (Word, WordPerfect, and Excel) are password protected, as needed.

I put the stuff that anyone can access in the "Shared Folders" area of Windows Explorer.

I was never exposed to anything visually graphic while I was a kid, but I really got into romance novels when I was about 13 or so. Particularly those that went into detail about the wedding night. Periodically I'd "repent" of my ways and get rid of some of them, but I'd always go back.

To make your folders private
Open My Computer.
Double-click the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive ( C: ), unless you have more than one drive on your computer).
If the contents of the drive are hidden, under System Tasks, click Show the contents of this drive.

Double-click the Documents and Settings folder.
Double-click your user folder.
Right-click any folder in your user profile, and then click Properties.
On the Sharing tab, select the Make this folder private so that only I have access to it check box.

I saw some really graphic porn when I was about nine. It belonged to an uncle and his daughters couldn't wait to show it to me. It was horrible; I was certain someone had been killed in the process. They looked like crime scene photos, only without blood or dead people. I was genuinely frightened by it.

When I was nine, I found some old harcore porno mags. It was low quality graphic stuff that was intended to be more bizarre than titillating. I had heard of this sex thing, and knew the basic purpose of it, so it was no doubt that that was what was going on in the pictures.

I decided there and then that it looked absolutely ridiculous and that I was gonna have none of that.
