Gianna
I blew my sister a kiss thanks. She had bailed me out of so many things, and I was so grateful to have her around! Without her, I would have been out on my ass a long time ago.
As David leaves with Aimee, I call down the stairs at him..
"Now, you treat her well, you understand? Remember, she is not like us, so you must be a gentleman and on your best, proper behavior!"
I giggle as David throws me a look of scorn, and throw him and Aimee a kiss.
Taking Tex's hand, I walk down the stairs to Mamasan and throw the chips on the table. Stiffly she gets up to get me my money. She knows very well that I've once again broken the rules, but she has no way to prove it. Plus, she knows it's the "devil may care attitude" that keeps bringing these sailors back to her door. As she hands me my money, she scowls at Tex - whether because he helped me break the rules or because she wishes she were going to spend the day with him - I just can discern, and don't want to. The day is wondrous - bright, sunny, and warm. And I can't wait to take Tex to that quiet meadow just outside of town.
As Tex and I begin to leave, I hear a noise from the storage room. I stop, and look quizically at Mamasan and Violette.
"Ah, that bad man, Riley. He sleep off drunk," Mamasan says.
Laughing, keep hold of Tex's hand as I rush out the backdoor and into the brilliant sunshine.
