Let's talk Tattoo

My wife won't get any tattoos for fear of becoming an old lady with a sagging/wrinkled tattoo. That what she says anyway... I had them before we met and continue to get them now... Although not as many since meeting as before... She doesn't totally like my getting them. But it was a part of me that came with the package. We survive. It just means that the tattoos I get now are more thought out than the first ones, and mean more to me on a personal level.

Bump up

I got my first one last year. The STP dragon on my left arm, planning to get another one soon. If you know who to go to and where to go then your set.

Scribe where are u from in NJ?

this is the GODSMACK sun, but since I have to be different I had it look more like a sun and added a moon

Kitten, I found that if you rub Vitamin E on your tats the color stays longer and is more vibrant. I figured this out because the skin keeps getting dry. Have you, or anyone else heard anything similar?

I haven't heard about vit E, we use vaseline or bacitracin (did I spell that right). The tatt looks better than in the pic, at least I hope it does since I had it done a couple of months ago.

Magnolia: I knew a man who waited until his 40th b-day to get his first. It's my opinion that if you want one then you should get one... At 43 you've had plenty of time to think it through... Go to a reputable tattoo shop, talk to some of the regulars, look at the work of the tattooist in question, and then take Nike's advice... "Just Do It." It will make you a happier person... Make sure that you get the design that you want... And know in advance that it does hurt... but no more than being scratched by a cat... And hey, your body is a temple... Temple's get decorated... So why not decorate your body.:D

I've got a blue wizard standing on a cliff calling up multicolored flame on my upper arm. If you know a little old english you could see why I got it. Myydryn is old english for Merlin. I've always loved wizards and magic.

I've seen a lot of cool tatts, but the one that stands out in my mind is a guy who tattooed his vertebra down his spine. It is totally bad-ass.

Myydryn

Sounds awesome, Myydryn... If you have a picture of it you should post it here.

Sorry no scanner or digital camera here. Maybe in the future I'll be able to borrow someone's. If so I'll post it.

Bump....

Well... Lets see if we can generate a bit more discusion on the subject... Here is another tattoo of mine... It's on my chest over my heart... Yes I know that the flag should be facing the other way and that it has a few flaws... but I still enjoy it...

And again...

Here's another just for the hell of it... on my right shoulder... I got it to match one that my brother has...

Ok... another... I got this one because I really wanted to get inked that day and had gone through alot of travel and BS to get to the closest artist... I was in Korea at the time... I believe that this one is still a work in progress, but am not sure...

Tats areb very sexy on women when they are placed in the right spots ..I do not like them in certain areas but i won't mention them because I don't want to offened anyone who might have one in these spots..As for me I have five tats and will get more when i find the right one ..I have a wizard on one arm the arm also includes a skull skates tat but you would of had to skate in the eighties to know what that is..On my other arm is a mean looking clown with a long tongue...My right leg calf muscle has a viking on it and on my back is a grim reaper..They all have meaning to me and thats what makes me wait so long inbetween getting them ..I don't want to get them just to get them then regret some later..Have a great day :)

Got 2 tatts, 1 is my astrological sign, the scales of Libra. The other I'm proud of, A Kachina that is known as "The Protector of Children" and underneath is my daughter's name and birthdate.

Everyone... I love the tats... all the pictures and descriptions. It is amazing to see and hear the varied ways that people have chosen to express themselves.

I myself have one tat for now... the kanji (japanese characters) for "aiki". Losely translated mean "harmony with universal energy". Its also the root philosophy of a martial art I study... aikido. But moreso... the meaning... is what got to me. I have it located on the base of my spine... tried to get it as close to my chi (did i spell that right?) as possible. Took me 6 years to find the design right for me... and the experience itself was the best drug known to man. Definitely getting another tat... maybe by the end of the month.

Im also considering getting a Pe'a... anyone know how to go about doing that? Its a thought... one that requires a huge committment... but i want to find out as much as I can about it.

"The Saguaro cactus doesnt grow branches until it reaches the age of 70" - Just think about what that means....

I agree with that, KS... the one that I got without much thought, the eagle on my shoulder does mean something to me though... even though I didn't think about it too much... if that make sense...

I have 8 tats. I plan on getting more. The first one is on my right leg. It is a unicorn head. On my left leg I have a tribal piece with 2 dolphins jumping in the center. On my lower back I have a lion cub lying on a log. My right upper arm has a bear head. My left upper arm has a purple rose with my sons name in it. My left lower arm has a rebel heart with my daughter's name. I have my nickname "Lisa" on my right breast and I also have my son that passed away "Harley" his name below mine. I am trying to design a Raven to put on my upper back.

Have 2 right now and planning to go back for more. Right arm...Wolf with 2 spirit feathers...Left arm Eagle with my one and only's name in a banner.

One thing is for sure if ya get one you are hooked.

I have none and don't plan on having any, but saw one at a concert last year that blew me away. I stood in line behind a young woman (less than 20) wearing a top that showed off her back. Nearly her entire back was tatooed as a pair of very intricate (feather) angel wings arching up at her shoulders and tapering down below her waist as if they were laid back at rest. All the feathering was quite defined and shadowed for depth -- quite realistic looking. The overall effect was simply amazing.

Bump...

I've seen one somilar to those that you are talking about, someplace... It was awesome... I was in the MN arrowhead when I saw it though so probably wasn't the same person... LOL.. wouldn't that be odd... :D

I do not think that the flag is the wrong way unless I didn't look close enough it seems that an eagle has it in his claws and is flying with it wich would make it go that way ...If i am wrong then I am sorry but It is nice to see someone with some pride ...Have a great day .....GO WINGS:)

My tat...

I love everyone's tats I've seen so far, and I definitely agree about how addictive they are. I only have one at the moment, due to monetary constraints, but when I get a bit more money saved up, I plan on getting another to go around the one I already have. I have a serpent/dragon on the base of my back, and want full back wings around it. I don't want angel wings...just the same type that my original tat has.

Kitty

Sorry about the quality of the picture...I'd forgotten how crappy my webcam is. In real life, the tat isn't nearly so faded, and the red in its eye really stands out.

My tats are posted on Kiwi Wolfs tattoo thread already so can't re-post them on here, however am getting so new work done on Thursday so will post it when I get the chance. Lady Sam has seen my tats i know but for the rest they are as follows:
1. Right arm upper, cobra poised to strike and kanji for 'protect'.
2. Left arm upper, dragon by Mr Townsend (Japanese) and kanji for 'Tao'. Am getting the Mah Jong character Red Dragon under it on Thursday.
3. Left chest, Wolf head over partial Native American Dream Catcher. (Yes, my AV)
4. Right chest, Norse/Saxon God Tyr sat on his throne with axe and shield. His rune stone next to him.
5. Back of neck will have a badge put on it on Thursday.

Have already planned designs for my thighs and calf as well as my back piece, of which the badge on my neck is the start. Well that's enough of me, hope I didn't bore you too much...:)
