It is a thick, solid, impenetrable gray overcast blanketing this world I'm in right now. Weather service tells us it is gonna storm tonight and tomorrow, and it looks like it!
The temp has warmed up to right about freezing and the ice under foot is pretty slippery, so I'm just gonna make another cup of tea.
Tonight our local arts council is hosting an open mic nite and I'm setting up sound, should be a fun nite

As often happens, after the stormy weather did its thing the sky is clearing and temperature is rapidly dropping! Forecast is to be semi-calm and about 0'f or -18'c.
It is a short work week, with thanksgiving holiday happening on Thursday, so I will be busting out recipes for a potluck with friends that day!

It is Tuesday, December 3rd 2024. Author Julia Serano proposed today as a day to let the world know we as "LGBTQ+ people are not going back"
She asked folks to write their thoughts and drop them wherever they do social media.
I wrote my short missive and posted in a couple of places, later today I'll perhaps post it here.

Cold and clear, about 8'f, -13c so I be layering up to head off for work.
Mood: empowered

Here is my short write up for yesterday's "LGBTQ+ people are not going back" if any are interested.

"After the dismal results of the federal election on Nov 5 politicians of all colors have been blaming support of LGBTQ+ folks as a liability.
Politicians have found LGBTQ+ folk to be an effective diversion from the serious problems facing this country.
No doubt this will continue until citizens hold them accountable.
Who is next?
What group of people will they use next to throw under the bus?"


"We as citizens need to step up & contact our congresspeople and senators, let them know we as LGBTQ+ will not be going back into the closet, we are done being second class citizens.

Finally! first ski of the season today still a little light on snow, but omg was it fun! no injuries, nothing broken so i figure I'm off to a good start

Pretty sure most out there are aware FB has said they are no longer interested in content moderation and .an as yet to be determined spectrum of hate speech will now be allowed as free speech. Including proclamations as to the insanity of LGBTQ folks, and undoubtedly hate for people of color.
In light of all this madness, I've come to the point that I just can no longer ignore how much of a sewer that place is and have started the process of deleting my digital self out of there.

I'm def finding out they don't make it easy! I've never quit other platforms on the web and found it to be so maze like! Not sure how this will turn out, sadly I suspect FB will not allow a totally clean sweep of my account.
I just started the process today, and their disclaimer noted the steps I chose could take up to 7-9 days!

Yeah, Hatebook. I avoided it years ago but my bf has a page and a Insta thing. Tumblr is for cool folks, to the complete confusion of outsiders who just don't get it ( because 'nothing happens' ).
Reddit can be pretty gnarly but each community has a set of Mods. I got frozen out of their Aspergirls page a few years back by some woman who clearly didn't like women without a uterus. That hurt, particularly as I'd previously been asked to be a Mod!
Bluesky is now the place to go but I can't be bothered. Lit eats enough of my time as it is.

MySpace? Who knows - maybe it'll come back? I'm not quite sure what it was to begin with - an online scrapbook? I think scrapbooking will make a comeback, because it can't be hacked and uses materials that have value like bus tickets and words from foreign food wrappers that sound rude. Is that what you mean by IRL.
We have a dogwood plant in the garden with quite attractive red/yellow whips left over. I should've thought about basket-weaving. Very IRL.

Minus 18f / 27c this morning....I'm kinda having a hard time kick starting myself to get ready for work! Yesterday tho I got my hair done and I love it it feels so light weight now, she took off 10-12 inches!!!
I hate to wear a hat when I want to show off my new hair, but at these temps I'll have to!

Gloves, down jacket and bobble hat for me when I go to work, though it's only around 0c freezing in the mornings. The skies were clear so it was much lighter on my way in.

yep,yep,and yeppers....minus 27c. It wasn't too bad until I made a turn to the north and realized there was a little wind from that direction! Ouch!!!

IRL is what keeps me so busy that I lost track of this thread.

IRL is reminder notes written on recycled junk mail envelopes, written in pencil because I can't find my pen.

IRL is going for a long hike in the desert WITHOUT A CELL PHONE!

IRL is is a hug from a friend so tight and so long that they never again had to use mere words to express appreciation. Just a glance in silence works.
