This is partly your fault Rosey - I've developed an interest in the northern islands of the British Isles with a view to maybe writing something, using the knowledge I'm acquiring via Google Earth etc. I'd love to visit them but I might have to do so in winter because in summer I want to be sailing down south.
I've also been fully immersed in a book and film, The Outrun. Recommended. Apparently in Orkney a few years ago, they had a storm so severe it blew down a henhouse and 70,000 chickens were lost.

It's a cold (-10f/-23c) start to my day, but crazy beautiful sun is shining, the snow is so brilliant it hurts my eyes!
So anyways I've been re-reading a book of interviews, 'Country Queers' by Rae Garringer.
The author interviews rural queers to find out about their life, loves and survival stratagy in rural america, a place often known for not always being welcoming to diverse folk.

I got to thinking how great it would be if I could share this book with others in my small, northern rural community, and wondered how to do that?
So yesterday I chatted with the librarian at our city library. I felt I would be shut down and told no way would this be on our shelves, but surprise!!!
She liked my suggestion and I told her I would order and provide the copy to them! I'm so thankful for our librarian going against the current of book bans in this country! She is a rock star to me

A toasty 7c here, but a wind from the north ( probably Alaskan ) made it nippy. What I needed was a coat that actually blocked the wind, not let me become at one with the frickin environment like I was a penguin. I spent yesterday planting trees which made me feel earth-motherly, but I didn't pop me tits out or anything because penguins don't have boobs... or trees come to that. Maybe there's a link?

Mood: Fat because supper and snacking on toast earlier
