This is a closed thread for Caela and CG Raven I invite you to read along and enjoy.
Have you ever wondered how far you would go if truly pressed to protect what you valued most. That of course brings to bear the question of what one truly values.. For some it is their family their loved ones, for other it may be something quite different, power and prestige immediately come to mind. One only has to pick up the morning paper, or turn on the evening news to see the latest politician so penitent as His loving wife by his side as he confesses his betrayal of them for a tryst in a seeded hotel room. Yet as we so piously sit there thanking the heavens we are not like him do we stop to think what is our Achilles Heel. That was the question that Franklin Faraday should have taken the time to ask himself.
Franklin Faraday was the president of Faraday Financial Brokerage, the single largest privately own brokerage in the nation. The assets of the Firm where rumored to be in the Billions if not the tens of Billions and that was not far from the truth. The problem of the matter was that those vast sums where based on Wall Street’ willingness to trade with Faraday Financial Brokerage. Without it those vast sums held in securities where worth little more than the paper they where written. The recent panic and the housing loan debacle suddenly made his worst fears come true, trading with the Firm had stop but that was not the worst of it.
It all started a little over a year ago when Franklin called his daughter Sybilla and asked her to cosign yet another stack of dry business papers. This was not an unusual event, as she had been doing so sense her eighteenth birthday, every time she came home from college or when the matter was so pressing that her father would have a messenger service deliver the papers and wait for her signature. Normally this function fell to “Uncle” Johnny a trusted employee of the firm but on this occasion it was a rather large and a bit scary character that she had never seen before.

Claude De Mort studied the distinguished gentleman that sat across the Louis Quatorze desk from him. It was only the second time that they had met, the first to draw up the contract for the loan and now this evening.
“Monsieur Faraday please this begging does not become you we are both businessmen, Men of the world. The installment on your note has come due and as you say, you can not meet it. So in accordance with our contract I am calling in your Marker, and demand delivery of your collateral.”
De Mort soft docile tones where matched by the steel in his cold grey eyes.
“Make the call Monsieur Faraday I assure you it will be much easier than if I have to send Rene to collect what is owed me.”
One look at the hulking brute with the livid scar that ran from above his right eye to just below the left settled the argument without a further word. Slowly he dialed the number that he knew only to well.
“Sybilla darling I don’t want to alarm you but an emergency has arisen and I need you to catch the next plane home it is a matter of life and death. Please hurry baby I will tell you all when you get here. It would be unwise to say more over the phone.”
Claude de Mort pressed the receiver button down before Faraday could change his mined.
“ Come Monsieur Faraday let us wait for your charming daughter at your home.”
It was apparent that he had no intention of letting what was owed him slip through his fingers.
