Loa Blood

Kryna paces the room a couple times then comes to a stop in front of Dex looking him directly in the eyes.

“I’m sorry. No I wasn’t taking off, I was going to come back.”

Returning to pacing again, occasionally stopping to look directly at Dex when she had an important point to make.

“I’ve been on the streets a lot, sneaking just comes naturally to me. When I snuck out on you I was going to meet an old friend, someone who took me in and helped me out when I was a kid. That’s who I stayed with last night.

“When I was first exposed to Loa I lost contact with my brother for a while. He’s the only family I have. I was hoping our old friend would have news from him, and he did. My brother Andante is in some kind of serious trouble, but the message didn’t say what kind.

“I’ve got to fly to Bridges tomorrow, that’s the details I’m going to discuss with Thornton. I’m hoping I can fly in pick him up and come back to fill the deal with Coda. Anyway that’s besides the point.

“I’m sorry you didn’t deserve to be treated that way.”

Stopping directly in front of Dex and looking him in the eyes again.

"Can you forgive me?"

Dex considers for a moment and gives a serious nod. "I suppose you can be forgiven, just don't do it again," he breaks into a boyish grin, "or I'll have to hurt you."

"If you need help, I can come along with you. I take a mean photograph and I supposedly look really threatening when holding small firearms."

He winks at that.

Kryna Ennairy (Paikairy)

Laughing, throwing her arms around him and kissing him.

“Thank you Dex. Yes I do need help, after sneaking out I didn’t want to ask. I’m really worried about my brother, but I’m so glad I’ll get to spend more time with you.”

She kisses him again, much more passionately this time.

Dex finds his hands on her ass and her tongue in his mouth, but brings his arms up to hug her to him and he nips at her lips.

"Hmm, guess we should get back to the others."

He stands and leads the way to the door, and opens it, saying lowly, "I just hope we don't have to wear Coda uniforms!"

I just hope we don't have to wear Coda uniforms!

She looks horrified at that thought, then laughing again follows Dex to the door.

Quickly catching up with Thornton and Monolith. Getting Thornton off to the side.

"I said I would like to accept your offer, and I believe I have skills that would be a huge asset to the security team of your company. However I have a family emergency that requires me to go to Bridges. It should only be for a day, I've already arranged private transportation. Dex has agreed to go with me.

"I should be back in plenty of time to help coordinate security for the next loa shipment. I can find all the holes in your security, and fill them. But my first priority has to be my family, I hope this doesn't change your mind about your offer."

I followed Mr. Thorne out of the building (bending almost double to clear the doorway). When I straightened up, I almost knocked a young woman over. I reached my hand out to catch her, then froze in shock as I got a look at her
"Hope??!!??"

"Whoa, there big guy!" Faith caught herself against the wall and then stood, with the big rather scary looking...man's hoary hand on her elbow.

She pushed the mass of dark curls out of her face and wrinkled her nose up at the tall Loa made creature. "Have we met? I think I'd remember you....unless...your Price?" A lot of people confused her with her older sister, but...ten feet tall strangers a half a world away?

A very pissed Mary dragged herself and her doll down the hallway with the excuse of having to go to the bathroom, and no one questioned her or accompanied her. She'd been muttering under her breath non-stop ever sense they took the blood and tissue samples and parked her on a backroom cot.

"Teststeststestsfuckingtests!" She slipped into the women's locker room and swiped a set of sweats from the gym hamper and walked out a young woman with the same fair coloring, a rag doll clutched in her hand and muttering. "Damn tests!"

No one paid attention to her, and no one stopped her as she strolled out into the late dawn.

This city was basically ruined for the foster care scam. Which was a shame, since it was nice having someone else take care of her. But, it might be nice to settle down into her artwork full time for a while instead of bounceing back and forth.

A ragged boy slipped out of the shadows and asked "What are youd doing with Mary's doll?"

*tag Kell, your it*

"We're certainly amenable to you having a few days leave before starting work, Kryna." Mr. Thorne replies.

"Not so fast, Monolith." The Chief of Police stops the giant as he leaves the station. "We still need your name, nationality, and a valid Argon ID or passport and entry visa numbers. There's the small matter of damages to public roadways from your jumping around yesterday. We can't stop you if you choose to just walk away from here, but you'll walk away a wanted man."

Back in the meeting room, after the others leave, a small group of uniforrmed officers steps in between Nikki and the dignitaries. "Nikki Hall, having refused to work with the police or the government and wipe your record clear, you are under arrest. You will be returned to Aralia for trial by your own people."

Damien frowned and looked over to the men. His father spoke up "Gentlemen, She is with me, So leave her be." The officers just looked at King Dufray and nodded slightly. Damien was shocked and awed at his father...

Monolith

I was broken from my shock by the Argon Police chief walking up to me.
"Not so fast, Monolith." Said the Chief. "We still need your name, nationality, and a valid Argon ID or passport and entry visa numbers. There's the small matter of damages to public roadways from your jumping around yesterday. We can't stop you if you choose to just walk away from here, but you'll walk away a wanted man."

Well, i was wondering when he would pull out the stick since I didn't take the honey. Well, I had played this game before, and I used to play it very well.
I looked down at the Chief & gave him my reply. " I would like to give you all the information that you request, but I would prefer to do it in a private matter. As for damages to your streets, I regret any damage I have caused, and restitution can be taken out of my pay from Mr. Thorne. I do regret the fact that you feel the need to threaten me with legal action. I am a honest, if somewhat unusual citizen. I will accept your offer to help the police if you need it sir, but I don't want to be a part of your police force. That may change after I have studied your department and seen how it works. I do regret any property damage I may have caused, but as you can see, I don't possess a subtle body. If you will follow me please sir, I will tell you what you want to know."
Leaving the young woman (how in the hell did she end up here??!!??) behind, the chief & I moved off a good distance, & I told him my story, and gave him the names of my department captain, so he could verify it. I also gave him the names of the ships I had been working for, so he could check them out.
" Is that all you require, sir?"

Faith knew a story when one bumped into her, chased by the cheif of police no less. Although they hadn't been formally introduced the name badge gave him away, and she thumbed the small recording device in her pocket and stayed silent during the exchange.

Ghost

She saw flashes of death, murder, rape, bloody pictures of men and women and even children, so many people were killed in horrible ways, than she saw Ghost fighting, but he just got captured and more people were killed left and right. The whole picture in her mind turned blood red and she heard Ghosts primal scream of vengeance. The scream brought images of a lion and a dragon to your mind for some odd reason.

Ghost awoke from his black out and saw you were gone, he looked all over the park and saw you were no where to be found, how long was he out, he had to find her so he could protect her, he than recalled seeing the things that was in head, he couldn’t stand to let something like that happen to her again, it was just wrong. He would find her, he started to run and he stopped to find a set of foot prints, he knew they were hers and he followed them until he could not find any more tracks, he was led to a house where clothes were hanging on a line, he ran forward and he found he was very fast on his feet, he covered miles very fast, he soon saw a group of benches and knew this was the only place she could have been, cause he searched everywhere else. He walked up and saw a form lying on a bench, he saw it was Aya, he walked up to her and sat on the ground and just stared at her.

“I told you I would find you where ever you go, I felt out where you were through my heart. I am here to protect you Goddess, don’t leave me again, I like having you beside me, and I will never let anything like that happen to you again, I will kill who ever tries to touch you again. I am sorry for all that happened to you. Give me all that pain and be happy. For you should smile instead of being sad.”

He gazed into your eyes and he knew why he found her, cause she made a connection with his heart and soul. He knew exactly where to go, he felt it. But he wondered what he could do for her.

As the bearish Chief walked away with Monolith, a handsome, if beleaguered, detective walked out of the station.

"Miss Jones?" Price asked, "I'm Detective John Price. Come with me, please. I don't have a lot of time, but I'll try to help you if I can. Cofee?"

The Chief hung up his phone and nodded to Monolith. "Your story seems to check out, Dram - uh - Monolith. I'm very sorry to have had to threaten you with the law, but as a former officer, I'm sure you can see it from my perspective. I'll respect your wishes for privacy, this information will not make it to the press. If we do require your assistance again, we will contact you through Coda. You're free to go."

King Dumar Dufray says farewell to the Mayor and the two doctors. He leads Damien and Nikki to his car. The driver bows deeply to Damien. "I hope you understand, young lady, that I am doing this as a favour to my son, who seems to care for you. Any further problems you might have with the law will reflect very badly on him, I'm affraid.

Damien, do you realize how precarious our position here in Argo is? We have no kingdom. We are here as the guests of these people who have taken in so many of our people as refugees. Once the last of their damned precious Blood has been salvaged from our homeland, they have very little reason to maintain that hospitality. It is imperative that we convince them of our good intentions, and of our usefulness to their nation. Not only for our own sakes, but for all of the surviving Draconians who look to us for protection.

"I failed them, Damien. I failed us all. You must not.

"Now, Miss Hall, perhaps you could tell us both what transpired in Aralia?"

Faith couldn't help but check out the decective. She was, after all, a red blooded girl in a strange city. She bit her lip. That thought had a lot of potentail, but at the moment she should stick to the task at hand.

"Thank you, coffee would be great. Straight black, please." She grinned when he looked slightly surprized. "A real reporter tries not to get to creature comforts like sugar and creaml." She winked. "Just like real cops."

She sat down in the chair in front of his desk, the one that was uncomfortable so suspects would want to get their interviews over quickly. "Actually, I was given your name by Mattai Alororn from Cresent City? He said that among other things your a good guy, had good connections with the underground here...espeically the undground Gifted and probably wouldn't mind having a reporter on your side to slant things a bit."

She rolled her eyes and slapped her forhead. "Darn it! I forgot to ask if I could be frank! I always forget that part!" She accepted the cup. "Ask frist, then lay my cards out on the table." She leaned forward and said in a stage whisper. "That's why I never play poker, when I get a good hand I just plain forget to bet!"

His eyes burned with a dark, hollow flame -- hollow with a void, a vaccum, that absorbed everything around it. Drawing it in and spewing it back out in an endless chain that almost made Mary dizzy to look at them.

His voice was cold and rasped. His posture, relaxed and yet incredibly tense, leaning slightly as if staring at the ground and yet his gaze bored into her eyes from beneath his brow. He was like a coiled spring. A fighter afraid of nothing, with nothing to lose worth keeping. A man-child with a death wish.

Voice... cold and rasped. Old, and yet after a few moments of shock, Mary could tell that the possessor must be merely a boy...

"What are you doing with Mary's doll?"

He took a step forward, and his head tilted up smoothly, like a snake rising to a dark tune.

"That's Mary's doll... I remember... I remember..."

His voice was quiet and calm. Either the voice of a rational man -- or a completely insane one.

"I met her... a while ago... now I am alone... so... give me that doll... and I will give it to Mary... you..."

He began to shudder slightly, his eyes darkening. It might have been her imagination, but Mary thought she saw dust motes gathering around his hands in soft glimmers of light and darkness.

"Give it to me... or I'll kill you! I'll kill everyone!"

Mary Monroe

Mary had seen the face of madness before; most often in her own mirror. She lay the doll down between the two of them and took a slow step backwards.

"I was taking the doll to Mary, actually. But if you want to do it instead, I'm sure she'd be happy to see you."

Another slow step. "She should be around the corner, waiting for her doll. She didn't want to go into the police station to get it."

She didn't remember this boy, but he seemed to remember her younger self. Or more accurately almost remembered her, his memory seemed as faluty as her own. And he was grubby and looked half starved and the rest crazed.

"I won't follow you or call the police, Mary wouldn't like that." She said softy. She'd have to shift ages and go to him as a ten year old. Her house key was hidden in that doll. And besides, he looked as he needed help himself.

Sugar

She heard him approach but she did not raise her head to meet his gaze.
The dirt and gravel scuffled under his feet as he moved towards her,

“I told you I would find you where ever you go, I felt out where you were through my heart. I am here to protect you Goddess, don’t leave me again, I like having you beside me, and I will never let anything like that happen to you again, I will kill who ever tries to touch you again. I am sorry for all that happened to you. Give me all that pain and be happy. For you should smile instead of being sad.”

She shrugged, "I'm sorry I left....I just didn't know what else to do. And I felt drawn here....and I knew you would be too."
She absently began to pick out the shards of glass and gravel that had remained lodged in the cuts in her feet, hardly flinching as she gazed into his eyes.

Then her eyes glanced over to her right, through the shadows and at the nearby building.
"We should go soon....we've already missed so much..."

OOC: yarg, brother downloading porn=computer viruses that crashed the hard drive....stupid boy...

Oh and I'm trying to get us into the storyline with the rest of ya...so work with me here ;) We're in a vacant lot outside the police station, I don't know if someone wants to check it out or if we should just come wandering inside...

Monolith

"Your story seems to check out, Dram - uh - Monolith. I'm very sorry to have had to threaten you with the law, but as a former officer, I'm sure you can see it from my perspective. I said my goodbye's to the chief and carefully made my way out into the morning sunshine. At times like this, I wish I could still feel the wind in my face, but it was not to be I guess. I walked down the street enjoying the sights. Of course, there were the stares, screams, & 2 near traffic accidents, but there was no way in hell I was going to pass for normal (especially wearing a quilt).
I moved off the roadway & into a park near the station. The trees were sparse enough that I didn't destroy any moving through the park, as long as I was careful.
"Give it to me... or I'll kill you! I'll kill everyone!"
What the hell? I picked up my pace a little and came out of some bushes & face to face with a young woman & man. They seemed to be in some kind of a confrontation, I could see the tension in the woman, & there was something strange about that kid.
" What is going on here" I boomed out in my deep voice.

Ghost

“Where do you want to go Aya, I might be thinking the cops are probably looking for us, so we are wanted. But I don’t care, I will fight them all, if need be so they wont lay a hand on you. But I do want to go and find some new clothes and some firearms, if that is ok with you.”

He scooped her up in his arms and smiled down at her, she did not deserve pain or suffering, he wished he could take all that away from her, he started to walk away from the place where you were looking. He was going more towards the side of the city with shops, he had seen it when he was looking for you. It seemed like you appeared in front of the store where he wanted to go, and he set you down.

“I know this is wrong, but I don’t like these clothes that I am wearing, I don’t feel comfortable. So go and hide and I will be in a out.”

He waits for you to run and hide, and he takes a few steps back and he seems to pass right through the glass, but you hear the whole showcase window shatter, and you see Ghost appear in front of you, he is dressed in a long white trench coat that is tattered and torn at the bottom from the glass and he has a black shirt and black pants with cool looking sunglasses on, he has two belts on, one black with studs and one white with black studs, he also has a gun he stole from the shop. He looks to you and smiles.

“Well Aya, what do you think, how do I look? I look that ugly huh.”

He dusts himself off and just gazes into your eyes through his new sunglasses.

The store alarm goes off, and several people on the street run over to see what is going on. They are pointing and yelling at the young couple in front of the shattered window.

OOC:

AW, I'm gonna move your comment back a little bit, to give Kell a bit more time to talk to Mary before you enter the scene.

<<---->>

IC:

Ahhh... what am I thinking...?

Kell's eyes softened, and he reached up to hold his own head, shaking it slowly. Then, with a surprising expression of terror, he tore his hands away from his head, paused for a few moments, staring in fear at his own hands, before sighing in relief and gingerly placing them back on his head again. He glanced back and forth between his hands even as he held his own head, as if making sure nothing was wrong, before sighing deeply and looking down.

"Please..." he whispered gently. His voice seemed normal again, the tired voice of a young man. "I'm sorry... I just... don't want her to be hurt. I... just recognized her... from a long time ago... my name is Kell Claudas... and..." He shuddered. "Why did she still look young?"

He slumped to his knees. "I'm hallucinating... you aren't even here, I bet... when I open my eyes, you'll be gone... I'm sorry... just leave me be... please don't call the police..."

I'm not even insane. I think I'm doing this on purpose. Certainly an extreme melodrama, though...

After pausing for a few moments, he spoke again, his voice soft.

"I just want to kill the pain."

He didn't look up as he spoke.

"I don't know how to fight something like pain. It's not something of this world. It's not a physical being. If I want to kill pain, I'll have to kill everyone, and then myself. Normally, that wouldn't be an option. But..."

He shivered, and dust swirled around him. (That's funny... was there a breeze? You didn't feel it...)

"...it might be possible, now..."

"What is going on here?

Blinking, Kell got up slowly and turned around, raising his eyebrows blearily. Then he looked up. And up a bit more. And up a bit more.

...shit?

"Ah..." Kell stepped back slightly. "Who... are you? You are..." Then, he paused, and all emotion vanished from his face as he sniffed slightly, wrinkling his nose. He then sniffed again.

What is this? He smells strange, and it isn't sweat or blood. No... smells like... smells like...

...smells like God...

...Loa beast!

Suddenly, he took a deep, hissing breath inwards.

...and how do I even know this?

"Leave me alone," he whispered quietly. "I'm not going to hurt anyone unless you get closer. Please. I'm warning you, for your own safety..."

Idiot. He'll laugh at you, and attack, and you'll have to hurt him. Or just get killed. He is VERY big...

Kell turned around, his expression worried, to look at the girl behind him.

"Take Mary away from this place... tell her about me... please!"

Monolith

I took a step back from the kid. He looked scared and confused, but something was not right about him.
Call it cop instinct.
"Listen kid, Kell, you said, nobody is here to hurt you. My name is Monolith, and though I may look scary, all I want to do is help you. I can tell that something is going on here, so if you and the lady can just explain it to me, maybe I can help both of you resolve this."
There was definately something fishy about this kid, otherwise why would a healthy young lady be white as a sheet standing 15 feet away from him.

The small plane was far too noisy for a lot of conversation. The closer they got to Bridges the more worried she became. True to Fagin’s training none of her worry showed on her face or in her manner, but she had a good grip on Dex’s hand. After landing and settling business with the pilot they made their way to the train station.

Bridges

Bridges is built over a wide, rushing river, that feeds into the Small Sea. As the noisy little plane comes in to land, the red peaks of Svetland mountains are visible across the water. Its a dark, moonless night, but the neon lights of Bridges blaze and flash below.

Russel, the pilot, says he'll wait with the plane as close as possible to the rail bridge. He'll keep it ready to go as soon as Dex and Kryna return. If they aren't back by morning, he'll contact Fagin. He hasn't asked what they're here for, and seems to be used to working with secrets.

The train from the mainland clatters across the high rail bridge into the darkened train yard. Far off down the line, Dex can make out a couple of rail workers walking alongside the train.

Andante's head pokes cautiously out of an open boxcar. He climbs hastly out of the train, stumbling when he reaches the ground. One arm is in a makeshift sling, the other clutches a pistol as though his life depended on it. He's dirty, pale and bloody, with a bandage over one eye. He casts around wildly with his good eye and the gun, prepared for something to strike from any direction, even though the train yard is as quiet as a tomb.

Bay City

Detective Price laughs at Faith's forwardness. "I work a couple of strange domestic disputes in the Draconian refugee enclave and now I've got a reputation for these cases? Well, the truth is, Faith, the Gifted population of Bay City seems to have suddenly exploded. You've heard of Monolith? The wandering do-gooder? Well he's here, and he's a lot bigger than the stories say. What I'm worried about is people panicking or antagonizing these Gifted. We have to let the public know that these people are friendly, but are to be approached with extreme caution."

______________________

As the early morning shopkeepers move towards Ghost and Sugar, Ghost feels his legs growing heavier under him. He's been pushing his new abilities hard tonight, and he's not sure if he can reach vanishing speed again before resting.

"Hey, get in here!" the voice comes from an alley beside the ransacked clothing store. A small group of teenagers, pale skin dark clothes, beckons to the strange pair. "Hurry," says a girl with spiky red hair, "we can hide you."
