Loa Blood

Nikki met Damien's gaze "There are hostages, I can feel their fear but I can't locate them. We have to save them Damien. You know where they are, I'm sure of it. Lets go and save them together, they don't have much time left"

The first the she noticed was that her body felt very light, but no matter how hard she tried she could not seem to move. Behind her closed eyes her head felt like she was on the fastest merry-go-round ever invented.

Next she became aware of someone talking to her, a male voice. Not her brother, it was...Dex. For a moment she could not make out the words, she only knew he wanted her to do something. She felt a sharp pain in her shoulder.

Suddenly the merry-go-round in her head slowed down and she could open her eyes. It was dark she was on a cold hard floor. She tries to move but no part of her body seems to want to cooperate. Unfortunately it’s a sensation she has felt before.

“You’re awake! Do you know who I am and where you are?” Dex asks her as he slips an arm around her.

“Dex, and a warehouse floor. It was Loa. It feels just like the last time,” she manages to mumble before sinking under again.

She blinked a few times in awe as the 'angel' departed. She made her way back out into the hallway, clutching her Dolly looking about for someone to play with...
She took one of the pills out of her pocket, the pretty pale blue pill.
She popped it in her mouth and sucked on it like candy, it was mostly sugar anyhow.
But the drug was also a relaxant, and she smiled as her eyes glassed over.
Years in hospitals had taught her a lot about pharmacudicals, and this was excellent for clarity from overwhelming emotions....

She skipped slowly, her head swimming...then clearing as she surveyed her surroundings...

Damien smiled down to her. "very well then, let's save them together" he wraped her up in his arms and flew back down.....

"Loa...?"

His eyes notice the syringe and symbol for Loa, and that it now lays there empty on the concrete floor.

With a groan he hefts her up with his arms under her shoulders and knees and makes his way over to the door, giving it a good kick and moving outside.

Many rounds of gunfire can be heard not too far away. Dex doesn't really know this town very well but common sense tells him that the escaped inmate probably has something to do with the volleying gunfire. He starts to make his way there and stops at the edge of the scene, some place safe to set Kryna down. His biceps are burning with exhaustion and he kneels there for a moment next to her to recover himself.

Outside the asylum, a few of the police are struggling to their feet after the second psychic barrage. Many others are still weeping, or staring off into space. One officer fires blindly at the bulldozer, scattering pigeons.

"Get a grip on yourself!" Det. Price pulls the gun from the man's hands. He had known that there was a Loa Gifted patient being held in this asylum, but had had no idea she was that powerful. He raised his radio t his lips. "All units fall back. Secure the area at a one-block radius. Do not approach the building until backup has arrived." Price turned off the radio. "I hope Damien can handle her, and whatever else is in there, but I'm calling in the National Guard, just in case."

Nearby, huddled in the shelter of a bullet-ridden squad car, Dex sits with the unconscious Kryna. The medical Loa serum used at the asylum was fairly weak, but was also meant to be diluted. The dose Seth had given her should have killed Kryna outright, or mutated her into the sort of horrible creature that now ruled Dracon Island. But it seemed the young thief's luck would save her once more.

Inside the asylum, Monolith battled fiercely with a horde of lunatics on the second floor. They couldn't hurt him, but it would take him some time to dispose of all of them.

Damien and Nikki flew downnn to meet the now sedated Sugar on the first floor.

Meanwhile, in the basement, a mumbling man put an opera record, often used in therapy sessions, onto the old phonograph. Many inmates were crowded into the asylum's emergency operating theatre. They ignored the sounds of the firefight upstairs and outside, intent as they were on the performance they were about to witness.

Doctor James Dawson, head of the asylum, was tied naked to the operating table. A pale, fat woman in orange coveralls loomed over him, facing her audience, scalpel in hand.

"Ah, the Doctor is awake at last. Then we may begin."

The crowd went wild.

She floats towards the surface again first becoming aware of sirens and gunshots and sirens. The next thing she becomes aware of is Dex. Her head stops spinning enough for her to open her eyes.

“Dex, where are we?” she says, speaking more clearly than in the warehouse.

Her head is still spinning but she had more control over her muscles this time. She used it to try and push herself to a sitting position. The dizziness was fading quickly, but her muscles trembled when she tried to get them to do anything.

“Dex are we safe here?” she asks, worried about the gunshots. She didn’t want yet another incident that brought her close to the police.

"We should be, hopefully... I wonder what's going on."

Dex leans her against the door of a squad car and raises his head to look over the hood of the vehicle. The scene before him littered with intermittent muzzle flash. His keen eyes make Damien upon the roof and someone with him. He blinks, and the silhoutte image is stored in his mind.

"Thats odd, that flying being is on the roof., seems we're developing a habit of running into him. But is he helping the police or is he wreaking havoc?"

Kryna Ennairy

"What are the police playing around for. They should cut the power to the building then go in with nightscopes" She mumbles. It was a tactic she'd used once. Her head started spinning again.

"They should cut the power" she mumbles again. "The police are always dumb," she smiles weakly.

Suddenly all the lights in the building go out, just before she passes out again.

Sugar

She was wandering through the corridors when the lights went out.
She was surrounded in darkness...though after a few moments the emergency lights came on, casting an eerrie red glow throughout the place, everything looked as though it were drenched in blood.
She froze, afraid, and all she could do was scream....

Damien stopped as the power went out and the emergency lights came on, Nikki was next to him when he set her down, Damien froze when he heard a scream from down the hall, both he and nikki ran off towards the scream.....

Nikki felt her heart stop when she heard the scream. Without hesitation she took off towards the sound knowing Damien was right at her side. They soon came upon a woman who was the source of the scream. "Miss are you ok?"

Monolith

It seemed that there were thousands of inmates in this place, and they all wanted to get a piece of me. I waded through what used to be a breakroom, throwing madmen across the room as they rushed me. Eventually, I threw off the last one, and made my way downstairs.
As I made my way down, I heard cheering? Weird.
The bottom floor was labeled a surgery wing. Oh crap, things may be getting bad now.
With a powerfu blow that sent the double doors exploding off their hinges, I stepped out of a corridor and into a nightmare.

Dex takes a look around at the police effort and spots Price directing some officers to move in toward the main entrance. The expression on his face would be worth a million dollars, disbelief mainly.

"What are you doing here Dex?"

"I uh... was in the area. Listen, what's going on around here anyway?"

Price holds up his finger for Dex to wait a minute and finishes giving some orders to the officers. "Well... seeing as you're here already...," and he begins to explain how the events have transpired.

Dex scratches his head. "So this is all the result of some guy that wanted his friends out of the asylum? That doesn't make sense at all." Then it fell into place. The inmate with the syringe of Loa cells. A look of dread came over Dex's face.

"That's the motive detective, they've got Loa in there."

Price and Dex together slowly pan their gaze over the asylum. Things just got a bit more complicated.

Just as Sugar is responding to the two figures approaching her, a loud crash sounds out from behind her, echoing through the darkened corridor.

Monolith, the towering stranger who'd leapt through the roof, stands right behind her at the remains of a door into the basement. He was so intent on the source of the cheer, that he didn't even notice Sugar so close by in the dim red lights.

The basement is even darker, lit not by the emergency lighting, but by flickering trash fires in barrels. The pipes and furnaces, the machinery that runs the asylum, distorts the opera music strangely as it rises up the stairs. Just barely audible over the music, someone is crying.

The old inmate holds a homemade pipe-bomb in his shaking hands. he's standing right next to the gas pipes, flickering lighter held at the ready beside the bomb's fuse. Anyone comes near the surgery, he thought to himself, and I blow us all to hell. "But I don't want to," he whimprered, "I don't want to."

Inside the emergency room, the fat woman is just starting to slice into the Doctor's arm. He howls in pain.

Outside in the rain, Price looks at the asylum. Then back at Dex. "I shouldn't be letting you anywhere near that place," he says. Price hands Dex a small portable radio. "There should be only one small cannister in there. All medical supplies are on the first floor."

Sugar

She was just about to reply when there was a crash behind her.
She turned and gazed up at the massive newcomer and her eyes widened.
She would have screamed again but her throat was raw from screaming before. So instead she ran.
She pushed past the girl, and angel man running down the corridor and skidding to a halt in the emergency room.
She watched as her fellow inmates filled with anticipation watched another inmate advance on a doctor Sugar recognized from rounds.
The man's cries were muffled but Sugar could sense his absolute terror.
She approached the table slowly from behind.
The torturerer glanced over her shoulder at Sugar but recognizing her as one of her own, paid little attention, going back to her work.
She noticed the table beside her was covered in medical supplies.
Including a container marked with the biohazard symbol, clearly marked Loa, she knew this had to stop.
She placed a hand on the poor man's leg and grabbed the fat woman by the arm.
"HEY!" She cried out and tried to shake her off, but Sugar opened her mind and serving as a conductor flooded all the man's fear and anxiety into the attacker.
Sugar stood there frozen as the emotions rushed through her in waves, it was mindblowing, she felt her knees buckle and her legs give out and the world went black...

As Sugar ran past the weeping old man, he cried out, "No, please!" and lit the short fuse of the pipebomb in his hands. Behind the old man stand the gas pipes and the open door to the emergency room.

The pale, fat woman gurgled, foaming at the mouth. The scalpel clattered on the floor and then she collapsed beside it. The crowd, deprived of the promised show, rushed towards the operating floor. Sugar and the Doctor were both completely helpless.

Monolith

I look into bedlam when I expolde through the doors. The emergency lighting covers the room in a red haze, and the eyes of the madmen gleam red with bludlust and madness. I obviously startled one of the few remaining staff members, and she goes tearing off into the crowd before I can stop her. I start to move into the crowd when a flicker of light catches my eyes. I see a old man lighting something & putting it among some white pipes
WATTAMINUTE!!! White pipes means GAS!!!!!!!!

I ran over to the bomb, going through whatever stood in my way (which wasn't much) and grabbed the pipebomb> I looked down at it & saw the last bit of wick burn in to the metal, so I did the only thing I could think of, I threw myself down on the concrete floor, bomb nestled against my chest......

The blast shook the foundations of the building, raining down pieces of the ceiling , but Monolith's body kept the flames or shrapnel from reaching the gas pipes. Monolith was thrown back across the room, crashing into the wall beside Nikki and Damien in a smoking, fractured heap. The weeping man collapsed beside the smoking crater left in the basement floor. "Thank you! Oh, thank you!" he cried.

Damien's face froze whne he saw the man light the fuse on the pipe bomb, the first thing he did was grab nikki and drop to the floor letting his wings completely cover them both laying on the floor Damien only heard a large boom then a crash. He lifted his wings to see the bottom of Monolith's feet. he rose slowly up with Nikki in his arms....

Kryna Ennairy

She floated to consciousness still sitting on the ground behind a police car. Looking around for Dex she saw one of the officers hand him a radio just before he headed towards the building. She noticed that all the lights were out and wondered if the police had finally pulled their act together.

Before he got to the doors she heard a distant explosion. The building seemed to tremble for a second, and she could hear parts of the structure collapsing. She watched Dex continue cautiously towards the building.

“Dex you fool that place could cave in on you,” she mutters to herself shaking her head. Just before he went through the doors she saw him look at the radio as if he were surprised.

Feeling stronger this time she manages to get to her feet. The man saved her from the horrible creature in the warehouse, she owed it to him to watch his back.

Nikki cried out softly when Damien pulled her to the ground. She had only caught a glimpse of the bomb and she held her breath. She felt the shockwave through the ground but that was all. When Damien rose with her in his arms she clung to his shoulders. Her eyes searched the hallway resting on the man that had saved all their lives. She looked at Damien "No one could have survived that." She hurried over to the man to check for signs of life.

Mary Monroe

Mary stood in her new apartment at her easel and listened to the police scanner as she painted.

The apartment wasn't really an apartment, more of a artists attic perched atop a old house that had been cut up into apartments. Below her there were six beatiful suites with moulding around the doors and fireplaces. Her place was short ceilinged and had many tiny windows which let in the light from all directions, a hot plate and a mircowave and mini fridge instead of a kitchen and a toilet and clawfooted tub hidden behind a curtain at one end.

In the summer all the windows would have to be opened or the heat would be unbearable. She toyed with the idea of getting an airconditioner. After all, the paints didn't do well in extreme heat, and she could be gone for days at a time, sometimes weeks. She nibbled on the end of her paint brush as she thought.

She didn't like the painting much. It was very dark with slashes of red gleaming through. But then again, what else would one paint while listening to a police scanner?

The situation at the Alsyum was mounting into a full out crisis and when the explosion was reported she began cleaning up her paint mess and sat down to drink the last of the ornage juice and ate the yougurt. Afterall, wouldn't want to come back to a stinky place!

She sat and listened to the reports as she prepared. It was just like a radio program like they used....She frowned. Like who used to listen to? But as usual any probeing into random thoughts caused pressure behind her eyes. If she didn't stop it would build into pain.

Monolith

The first thing I was aware of was a ringing in my ears, then the pain in my chest hit me. I groaned & tried to sit up, making it on my second attempt. Not since that first night, when the loa first poisoned my body & changed me forever into what I am now had I felt pain. I opened my eyes to see three pretty, no, two pretty, no, ok, I'm getting better. A pretty girl was looking down at me concerned, and a little frightened by my appearance. I slowly stood up, watching her eyes widen as I towered over her. My clothes were in tatters, and it was quite obvious that I was far from normal in her eyes.
" I am ok little one. It will take more than a crude bomb top destroy me." Then the room spun around, mocking my words. I leaned back against the wall, supporting myself so I would not fall on the girl.
" Tho it does seem a crude bomb can kick my rocky ass pretty good. I think I better sit down a while."
I slowly slid to the ground, and looked the girl in the eyes.
" So, what is going on now in this place?"

When Dex enters the buildng, he can easily hear that theparty has moved downstairs.

Down in the basement operating theatre, the mob of lunatics swarms over Sugar and Doctor Dawson. Sugar is still unconscious, but the Doctor sreams for help. Many of the inmateshead straight for the vial of Loa Blood beside the operating table. The crowd struggles for possession of the vial, screaing and cursing at each other. The vial is carried away into the midst of the crowd, away from Sugar and the Doctor.
