Long Distance Relationships

Re: Thanks for the welcome!

It will be our first face to face, but we know each other soooo well through the hundreds of IM's, emails, and phone calls! (he calls me everyday from Munich!) He is the sweetest, most caring, and most wonderful guy! It's kind of funny, when he first messaged me, I kept refusing the thing! Then one day I was in a bad mood, I accepted it just so I could tell him off... he said something so sweet that I didn't have the heart to say what I had intended! And now I'm ever so glad I didn't!
We've exchanged current photos and we both have webcams and they can't lie! Plus the phone calls... I just can't wait till he gets here!
Thanks again for giving me a place to publicly tell him how I feel!

That is a great love story. My LDR is in the UK, and we will be together for the first time June 24th (by the time I get off the plane it will be June 25th)

Welcome to The LUV Thread!

I also had (had!) a long distance relationship with a marvelous women... I was sure that for the first time in my horrendously long life I had finally found my soulmate. She was everything I ever wanted. At least, everything I thought I wanted.

Unfortunately, time and circumstance killed it.

It's been five years and - despite having terrific relationships closer to home, I think about her every day.

The memories are sweet. The pain is gone (mostly <G>.)

I'll never find that again, but it was amazing while it lasted... colors brighter, "muscles better, nerves more."

I wouldn't trade that time for anything.

Kisses,

S

Greetings to all!

Welcome Speakeasy, and thank you for posting even though your LDR experience ended! Sharing all our stories, good and bad ones, really emphasizes how strong our feelings are!

With a group of you in "countdown mode", I can share in the excitement and relive my own first meeting with Oman.

For me, Oman did the traveling! I'm so glad it happened this way since I kept very calm, and I don't think I would have remained that way if I had to do the travelling! Is it easier to be the one waiting or the one traveling?

Of course, sharing that first LOOK makes everything worthwhile!:rose:

Jenny... hold on to that thought! Relationships end, but that doesn't mean we stop trying. This could be the most exciting time of your life. Greet it with a smile, and fuck his brains out... <G>

For all of us looking forward to that first meeting...or remembering the first time...

Are those your eyes, is that your smile
I've been lookin at you forever
But I never saw you before
Are these your hands holdin' mine
Now I wonder how I could of been so blind

For the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein' who you are
I can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin back at me
Now I understand why love is.......
Love is.....for the first time.....

Can this be real, can this be true
Am I the person I was this morning
And are you the same you
It's all so strange how can it be
All along this love was right in front of me

For the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein who you are
I can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin back at me
Now I understand why love is.......
Love is.....for the first time.....

Such a long time ago
I had given up on findin' this emotion..ever again
But you live with me now
Yes I've found you some how
And I'VE never been so sure

And for the first time I am looking in your eyes
For the first time I'm seein' who you are
Can't believe how much I see
When you're lookin back at me
Now I understand why love is.......
Love is.....for the first time.....

My experience of LDR worked out very well. We were, at least, in the same country but all the uncertainty and frustration was evident.

Meeting for the first time was unreal, I forgot how to order a drink and stood at the bar trying to remember vocabulary desperately while she found a table.

I think the barman reckoned I was a) insane, b) drunk, c) stoned or d) all of the above.

The first glorious hug made everything right in the world and the love I already had for her just intensified.

We've been together a year now. We live together and have made some firm plans for our future. :D

Meeting on the web was something I never thought I'd experience. It wasn't something I was searching for. I was already in a relationship when I met my LDR girl and gave everything up for her.

Thankfully everything is fantastic and proof that it can work. It wasn't easy, but we knew we were right and we'll live happily ever after....

(nice poem Ladyhawke :))

Welcome Ram Unreal:rose:

Thanks for adding your wonderful (and enlightening) story to the thread! Isn't that first "instant" fantastic!!:)

All the best for the your future together!

Thank you, Ladyhawke, for those beautiful words! You must be beyond "excited" right now!

So far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore
It will be so fine to see your face at my door
And it doesn't help to know that your just time away
Long ago I reached for you and there you stood
Holding you again could only do me good
Oh how I wish I could
but you're so far away

One more song about moving along the highway
I can't say much of anything that's new
But if I could only work this life out my way
I'd rather spend it being close to you
but you're so far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore
It will be so fine to see your face at my door
And it doesn't help to know you're so far away
So far away, yeah you're so far away

Traveling around sure get's me down and lonely
Nothing else to do but close my mind
And I sure hope the road don't get to own me
There's so many dreams that I've yet to find
But you're so far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore
It will be so fine to see your face at my door
And it doesn't help to know
you're so far away, you're so far away
You're so far away, you're so far away
Oh I need to get in touch with ya baby
You're so very, very, very far away
You're so, so far away

Just dropping by to say hello to everyone. Hope everything is going great.

Ebony, that number 43 drawing is cute isn't it. I swiped it off a website called numberland. They have cute drawings from kids for all the numbers. Here is another one for you!

http://www.mathsyear2000.org/numberland/35/pic35.jpg

I love it! AND the numbers are getting smaller! Soon it will be under a month!

Hang in there, LDRs!

It seems that things are working out for many LDRs. And for those of you who are still looking, Hang in there. It took me 30 years to find the right guy for me. Who knew? I had given up.

Countdown continues...

I'm so nervous.. the time is so short... I'm making myself sick to my stomach... all of these thoughts are running through my head making me crazy! What if he sees me and immediately doesn't like what he sees? What if we just don't click in person like we do on the phone? What if there are just too many of the little things that we don't agree about?

AAaaaaaarrrrgggg!!!!! Make them stop! Please? These are the thoughts that are whirling around in my head 24/7... except when I'm talking to him on the phone or we are IM'ing.... It's literally making me ill. How do I make it stop?

:kiss:Cherrie:kiss:

Hugs Cherrie:rose:

Try not to let the "what if's" get to you!! Easier said than done, but keep talking/im'ing him, and try to clear your mind as much as possible.

What made you two "connect"? It wasn't the way you looked, and you likely know so much about each other. The second I looked into Oman's eyes, I recognized the man I had already fallen in love with!

It's a magical moment, so just try and let it happen!:rose:

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I was a paranoid mess for about a week before Toys and I met.

Trust me, it will be great. You will both be glad to finally see each other in person, and you will have lots to talk about. (and *ahem* do). ;)

But I've been there honey, and there isn't anything you can do about those thoughts, just use your nervous energy for something constructive.

Best wishes!

I met my current

SO on the net. We're 3000 miles apart <sigh>. We've been "seeing" each other for over a year now. It works actually pretty well. We're both extremely independent, so I doubt either of us would do well in captivity. The excitement of meeting up after a couple months apart is intense...absence does make the heart grow fonder.

The relationship has tamed since the first meeting (thank God...we would have killed each other if we'd kept up that pace <wicked grin>...) and it is now in a comfortable, easy mode. There's much to be said about living far away and visiting often ;)

So, I must say that while there are definite drawbacks, there is much to be said for a good, healthy, LDR

Welcome Leg Up. It's good to hear about another long term LDR that is going well.

And yes absence makes the heart grow fonder...and, as a dear friend of mine says...the loins grow hotter. ;)

Thanks Jenny and Raina,
I can't tell you how much what you've said has eased my mind! I'm so glad I found you guys! I'd be going out of my mind otherwise! Thanks again to all of you!
*giggle* :D
Well, speaking of the devil... He just called me! **bigdreamysigh**
*giggle*
God, I can't wait! :D :p

*sighs* Just finished talking to Daeth and I'm hating letting him go more and more each night. The thought of having to push back our meeting is tearing me apart. But on the upside I sent him a small care package which hopefully he'll get tomorrow. Good luck everyone:heart:

Hi Everyone!!

Welcome, Legs Up!:rose: Seems you two have worked out a great arrangement!

Lady Sam... I know that feeling!! Oman and I were "off mike" for a little over a week! Felt like "forever"! Sending that package will sure boost his spirits, as well as yours when you hear his reactions to the little "surprises"!:D

Keep giggling, Cherrie!! It's amazing how important laughs are! I'm so excited for you, and the other's whose countdowns are quickly approaching!

Moods change daily (at least mine do!). Some days I feel so impatient with everything, feeling like nothing much is going right. Fortunately I'm in a more "laid back" mood today!

Does anyone find that moods affect your expectations of time "connected" with your LDR?

Hug for the great news, Cherrie!:rose:

When I talked about moods, I meant have you ever found yourselves NOT on the same mood level? Connecting with Oman definitely lightens my mood, but there are times when one of us might be "silly", the other "serious" at the same time. That kind of difference.

Now I get it!! Doh!

Yeah, as a matter of fact it just happened this morning... He was all hot and horny and I wanted cuddles and kisses!! *lol* We worked it all out tho... *giggling*
I'm so excited, I just can't get this stoopid silly grin off my face!!!
