Maryland is for lovers?

All we need to do is rev it up to keep it alive!!!!!

It looks as though you're already "up" and "alive".

With the holidays on the horizon and parties to attend surely there will be much to discuss.

So that would be the question just short of building Frankenstein and jolting him with electricity to wreck havoc in MD. What would revive this Here group ?

It starts with people posting more than a couple of words.

So, I'll start: Is anyone dressing up for Halloween? Doing anything fun? I have some parties to go to but no costume planned. Well maybe one. I'll see, and if I pull it off, I'll post pics!

I've been invited to an adult costume party where everyone must wear a costume.
I'm being taken by 2 lady friends and they are dressing me as the sex slave. That's all they will tell me about the evening. The anticipation is building.

I got invited to a Halloween event at a club. But my friend unfortunately got the days mixed up. Lol Either way, I wouldn't be able to dress up because I work retail and close tonight and tomorrow night.

Can't you dress up at all at work? Something subtle but still says "f u" to the highers-up?

Unfortunately, we only have permission to dress up on the actual day of Halloween. And I'm not working that day. I also hate my job because my manager is a huge liar, but that's okay.

That sounds like fun. Hopefully it goes well beyond the party! Do you know the ladies well? Are you expecting more will happen than just go out to a party?

I've known the ladies for many years...one of them and I once dated each other.
"Activities" after the party have been hinted at. We will see.

Then you should follow the letter of the law. If you don't have to wear a uniform, can you dye your hair or dress up as a subtle character you like just to make your day more enjoyable? What are you interested in?

Also, you should totally gaslight your boss if he/she is a douche.

I'm honestly not that creative. Lol You're putting a lot of faith into me that I don't deserve. I'm into a lot of things though... Video games, reading, movies, just run of the mill nerdy things.

Trust me, I'm already planning my exit. Lol

What games, movies, books? I'm sure we can come up with something fun yet subtle enough that will fly under you boss's radar.

Most of the games I play require more than one days planning. Though, I could sort of pull off a Lara Croft if I really tried.

What do you read? Fiction? Nonfiction? Fantasy? SciFi? I'm a voracious reader of both fiction and nonfiction, but my all-time favorites include the Dresden Files and the Kingkiller Chronicle.

I have a not so guilty pleasure for young adult nonfiction. I'm also attempting to read the Game of Thrones books. There's also Harry Potter... I'm always open to find something new to read though. I've taken a small break from reading at the moment though.

I've read the GoT books, but I can't watch the show. I understand why they did it, but the producers made the characters too one dimensional for me. They lack the depth and background so you never understand why they act the way they do. Without that context, key characters just come across as petty, evil and masochistic, which really does a disservice to them.

Anyway, Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicle is so beautiful and well-worth the read.

I'm a sucker for book to screen adaptations. With the context of the book, it helps. The show mostly follows the books so it's not that bad to watch.

But that sounds like an interesting series, I'll have to give it a read when I get the chance. Which won't be far off honestly. Lol

YA non-fiction?

got any examples ?

Maybe next year I'll have some new friends and I'll have a party to go to! (Or I'll be back in FL) I never dress up though. Closest I'll get is wearing a wig and a headband with ears... lol :)

Went to a party last weekend and rather than spend money hubs and I wore out renn faire outfits. So many compliments! Made me happy since I worked that morning and was exhausted.

Tomorrow we're going to a friends party but there is a theme. "Super heros and Villans." Last year the party was after Halloween so nearly no one dressed up except for us and a few others. My costume is going to be my nice works clothes and a "fake ID" to be one of the Agents of SHIELD. Comfort and no money wasted!
