Loose to start, but tight to finish. The tip always loves attention to finish, but a joint effort to focus attention on the shaft and/or balls at the same time as squeezing the tip....*growl*

My preference is for a looser grip on the shaft, with a tighter grip around the rim from the thumb and forefinger, that includes rubbing the groove on the underside.. but I'm not complaining if it's done differently
