I agree, when you are referring to more than one , use 'they'. But not for a single individual who simply wants to be referred to as a they because they say they want to express a multiple sexuality or be gender fluid. That has almost reached the level of absurdity. I believe that there was a move to change the law in Canada.

Someone pointed this out to me but it’s too precious not to bring to your attention.

In your quote above you use “they” for a singular person while trying to deny its grammatical validity.

I tend to agree It objectifies rather than describe. (My way of push back on the 'theys/thems who want to be gender neutral or all inclusive.) Technically until very recently, the 'third person neuter' was the default to 'he'.

I find forcing 'they' on me almost as repulsive as a male (based on his genitalia, no matter how he sees himself) demanding access to female locker rooms and the like. Or trans MTF competing in women's sports where they have a massive and unfair advantage. But the 'politically correct' tend to push those 'rights' even if they infringe on others.

I can see providing protection for those with gender dysphoria in schools. Kids will bully the hell out of a boy wearing panties or other feminine attire. But the idea is they'd still have to commit. You can't have the school jock on a bet, decide today he is a girl and must be given access to the girls' locker room as his right.
Yet many of them still lose, or aren't in the top precentile, despite their advantage. I still remember people being up in arms over that mma fighter, that probably started this whole thing. They thought she beat the shit out of her opponent, because they thought she was the taller woman who won- she was the short one that was damn near beat to sleep. Recently I heard they were, somewhere trying to ban trans men and/or women from chess tournments. Makes no sense. Where's the trans womens advantage in chess? Ironic how she can't play chess, but NASCAR of all people let a failed F1 Driver, who happens to be a woman, fail even more at stockcar racing.

Is it misgendering if the person decides to be that sex by 'feeling' it? I'm not talking about where the person has gone through SRS.
99.99% of being human is about feelings. Dismissing feelings is dismissing love and compassion and everything about you that makes you different from a robot. Without feelings, we are just biological machines. If you have no feelings, and maybe you don't, then I pity you.

Would interacting with an androgynous person be uncomfortable for you?
Nope, hasn't been so far. Generally I address them as "you". I go on cruises a lot. You see many older people who could be either male or female as a couple. At breakfast one morning, I casually asked one if she was just eating alone or cruising by herself. "Nope my wife refuses to get her ass out of bed." Okay, that confirmed her sexuality and relationship. Ran into the couple in port and we drank together. No prob.
Last cruise there was a guy who was likely transitioning. He wore full makeup but it looked like his facial hair was not quite covered. Only female attire and either he had breast augmentation or very good prosthetics. His cabin was across the hall and down one from mine so we ran into each other often. No problem.
Politeness is never the issue. Live and let live. Just don't demand I praise somebody for being courageous, or put the on a pedestal like we are told we should on some of the liberal talk shows.

I did not deny its grammatical validity. Read the rest of the sentence. I used it yes, BUT I did not use it in terms of a person's multiple sexual identity /fluidity context. The "I am not male nor female, but both and neither at the same time so you MUST refer to me as They/them."

You need to meet someone who you can’t clock. 🤣

Those cases are dumb. You are right. I'm referring to the rash of track and field events where the trans 'woman' not only handily came out on top but set records. Sports where there is an innate muscular/physiological advantage from being born male. In my opinion, if they want to participate have their own leagues.
You may be too young to remember all the discord from early Russian women given testosterone etc for that purpose. That resulted in full changes of in the rules concerning enhancement drugs and hormones.

You're just making stuff up now.

Then, IT, I will always refer to you as IT from this point forward.

My wife is a female. Does the fact we both have wives make us both men in ITS eyes?

If you read what I said earlier, you would know I said I did not care how or with whom even if a person has sex. I said I was not going to follow that PC crap about how I was now supposed to refer to anybody who said they were both neither male nor female. They were both and neither all at the same time so they wanted to be by the plural of that identity..
You have been upfront you were lesbian. Like others you call your S.O. wife. Fine with me.
For your information, I have a sex, so I am a male whether you want to call me IT, shithead or anything else. Just I would refer to you as a female regardless of how you have sex. You have the organs so that is what you are.

You fly this in the face of grammatical proof you have already knowledged that ‘they’ is already in use to identify singular individuals.

Your willful ignorance and selfish obdurance says way more about you than it does about the people you disrespect.

I’m curious: what do you do with your empty shopping carts after you’ve loaded your groceries into your car? What kind of respect do you extend to others when no one else is keeping track?

Did you rail against your parents and say they were ‘forcing” you when they tried to teach you to have respect for others?

I apologize for borderline trolling you, but your lack of compassion at zero cost to you is baffling to me. I don’t understand how someone who presumably considers themselves a good person can be so needlessly selfish.

Please, feel free to express yourself with the full range of words you wish to do. I was making a point, and you got full well, you do not wish to be called IT because it objectives you. But you do wish to objectify others because what they want means nothing to you. Why should we regard your feelings when have none for others?

PS, I've never had shit on my head in my life.

Last summer I had two birds crap on my head within the space of 5 minutes. And no, I wasn't sitting under a tree.
You poor man. I'd kiss on the head to make you feel better, but you know, that bird crap isn't Kosher.

I'm new to the thread. I have no problem referring to people by the preferred pronouns. It may be PC, but it also polite and I think there are far to few manners. Reading through the thread, the conversations were polite until @Gamblnluck gave his two cents worth. I'd suggest you're not participating in the thread in manner that OP had hoped that everyone would. That is to say, you aren't polite in your disagreement. Perhaps you'd be more comfortable in another thread. Perhaps, others would be more comfortable if you were in another thread.

Really? Then why is there so much of a fight and argument concerning MTF trans competing in women's sports? They have a physiological advantage.
1. Yes. 2. Scaremongering. 3. You're still making up stuff.

Trans athletes have been competing for years, and most of the time they don't win - but whenever they do, it's all bitching and whining and a triumph of presumption over evidence.

Your argument there was literally, "Transphobes have successfully stirred up a storm in a teacup, so it must be true."

Perhaps you'd be more comfortable in another thread. Perhaps, others would be more comfortable if you were in another thread.
That may well be the case, but I'm sure you accept the free expression of conflicting opinions is a greater good than making others feel comfortable, and the value of that greater good lies in the fact that it makes others feel uncomfortable.

He can post wherever to whoever he wishes, but his tone is my objection. And tell those who are openly admitting they are trans, in this room, they are an IT is unacceptable.

She shouldn't need to tell you that it's her opinion, and that she doesn't need to justify her opinion to you.
Mansplaining!!!

You've not noticed she's twice as smart as you, and twice as capable of forming her own opinions and putting them into words.
