Your birdcage reminded me of this blonde joke...

A blonde walked into the pet store and, after looking up and down the aisles, asked the sales clerk for help.
"I'd like a box of birdseed" said the lady. "For which kind of bird?" he asked helpfully.
"Oh, I dunno," she replied. "Whichever will grow the fastest."

Now about that birdcage.. what kind of birds are you keeping?

Well thanks Crude...it's just that a little goes a long ways you know...little flirting is always ok....
My birds are parakeets and very lovely...I know have 4 of them and really need a larger cage...but I think it's going to be a lot of fun trying to transfer them:rolleyes:

I like pets, but we have not had much luck with fishes and birds... and then when we go away need someone to take care of them, which becomes a hassle...
bigger animals like dogs are more easy to get stand-ins to feed...
We lost some very expensive fishes and varieties of birds.. now my fishtank has cheaper fish which ironically survive longer, but are not as pretty as the rare ones

Well I have had cats and betta's and my kids always had dogs but for me the birds work good....they stay in the cage....
Funny joke Crude....

Dogs and cats can take a toll on time and resources as well, but in our case where we live on a farm, my dogs are also for security. The best one I has was a Rottweiler and he was ferocious. Had Doberman too. RIght now have two German shepherds (one's a pup) a Labrador (pup) a Great Dane (Striped) (these are in kennels) and a Daschund (house pet)
Once we lock the gates and let the dogs out, people enter at their own risk and I am not accountable for attacks. The have to ring and let us escort them in after securing the dogs. That way our pets double up as security too. And a group of dogs is difficult to fend off.
Glad you enjoyed the laff...

Has the lovely latina leapt into bed? I don't think it is bed time for you yet?

I can see your point with the dogs but I'm not a big fan of vicious dogs...but I understand why you need them....I always worry about them around little children....been so many cases of attacks....and I agree pets do take a lot of time and effort....

Yeah, we restrain them during the day and confine them to locked kennels.
Besides, dogs can't be bribed, or rob their employers..
Animals are much more reliable.
My Rottie did attack my son once and so when he died of an heart attack I was not so upset.
I did not realise I should have included the kids when training the dog as a pup, for after a year and a half, a Rottie has fixed his loyalties and there is a abrupt change in temperament. Other breeds like German Shepherds tend to recognize by acquaintance. Only the Rottie needs deliberate familiarization, Problem was my work kept me away and the training was not as much as I needed to give.
Yes, with kids, care must be taken with aggressive pets around.

very cute and unusual

. I'll copy the story here....

GOLDEN RETRIEVER ADOPTS TIGER CUBS AT KANSAS ZOO
A dog at a southeast Kansas zoo has adopted three tiger cubs abandoned by their mother. Safari Zoological Park owner Tom Harvey said the tiger cubs were born Sunday, but the mother had problems with them.
A day later, the mother stopped caring for them. Harvey said the cubs were wandering around, trying to find their birth mother, who wouldn't pay attention to them. That's when the cubs were put in the care of a golden retriever, Harvey said.
Harvey said it's unusual for dogs to care for tiger cubs, but it does happen. He said he has seen reports of pigs nursing cubs in China, and he actually got the golden retriever after his wife saw television accounts of dogs caring for tiger cubs.
Puppies take about the same amount of time as tiger cubs to develop, and Harvey said the adoptive mother just recently weaned her own puppies. "The timing couldn't have been any better," he said.
The mother doesn't know the difference, Harvey said. He said the adopted mother licks, cleans and feeds the cubs.
The Safari Zoological Park is a licensed facility open since 1989 and specializes in endangered species. It has leopards, lions, cougars, baboons, ring-tailed lemurs, bears and other animals. It currently has seven white tigers and two orange tigers. Because whit tigers are inbred from the first specimen found more than a half-century ago, they are not as genetically stable as orange tigers. The zoo's previous litter of white tiger cubs was born April 23, although one of the three has since gone to a private zoo near Oklahoma City.

Oh what a cool story and picture....
My son had a Rot one time and it tried to attack my g/daughter...it didn't last long around my house then...anyhow I guess you have to use extreme care with children.....

It is not the animals' fault. Only the Pit Bull is unpredicatble among dogs. With the rest, they have traits and i did not know of the fixation at training with Rotties. You see, the Rottie was almost extinct and regenerated with just one remaining pair and hence all are almost identical with few variations, the main ones being the pathces are either rust or yellow coloured.
The Germans trained that breed to attack escaping prisoners and since that genetic variety was same, the aggression passed on. Typically a Rottie pup is very playful with anyone till 18 months and at that ages is less amenable to traning and becomes abruptly vicious. Anything has to be ingrained before that.
It was my fault, in lacking knowledge on that count.

Was your granddaughter attacked badly?
In texas, they keep tigers in domestic captivity and some kids have been mauled and even killed. You'll be surprised to know that the largest collection of tigers in one location in not in India or Africa, but Texas (but in captivity and out of their natural habitat). Started with oil tycoons and huge ranchers going in for exotic trophy pets.. but there are occasional reports of family children getting too close to the big cats and suffering the consequences.

No thank goodness she wasn't just scared us all badly...yeah I hate pit bulls....they are really vicious....
My eyes are getting tired...going to watch some tv and wind down for the day......Nite:rose:

To the best cooks in my book

I met the most elegant and enchanting Lady on the Lit,
In her kitchen we decoded the cipher of charm and wit,
Both barefoot and wear nothing ‘neath blouse or skirt,
And yank off my pants and shirt as we tease and flirt,
However, if my innuendos spells too much sexual talks,
They waste no time in gagging me and pulling my socks,
My Momma’s the best housekeeper and an excellent cook,
While mah dahlin’ Cipha’ has da bug and cub in a hook.
I love Da Dakota Dame who is the Queen of the Kitchen,
My Regal Lady in Red with a sleek shin and royal chin,
Is Cipha’ a countess of cuteness or Duchess of Desire,
They often complain of humid heat, but she’s the fire,
Knot my tongue, when naughty thoughts brew in my head,
I’m gonna move the hot spot from kitchen table to bed.
