That's par for the course when keeping feathered pets.. I have lost a couple more now, one among those is the cream cockateel.. Since I got them (I think I had about 78) I prolly lost five or six.. of which one was assaulted by the hawk, a couple became snake snacks and a couple from long term injuries from internal squabbles ... lol...
Am now in Spain and tired after along trip.. so am posting this and hitting the sack.. if Cipha was around, I'd proly drag her under the covers too.. lol

Birds are delicate pets...
We had two turtles and one tortoise which we kept in an unused tank from which the cows used to drink, and covered with a fishing net. Somehow one turtle managed to chew his way thru the net when it got topped by rain and the water reached the net.. Was quite disappointed to lose him as they are not easy to lay hands on.. these are not purchased ones, but ones caught in the paddy fields and were given to us..
well, I hope he stays safe, for if he is still on the farm (which is possible) I hope my dogs don't find it.. especially my dachshund who does nothing except hunt down farm mice, bandicoots, chews up lizards and even attacks snakes... yes, snakes and he is a sight to watch as he dances around them like a mongoose and finally grabs them by the tail and kills them. He did get bit by a rat snake after which he wised up for a frontal attack. Am glad he learnt his lesson in time, for soon after that we found him attack a cobra... this time we called in a guy who is famous for handling snakes and simply circles the critters and it is amazing to watch the most poisonous snakes simply curl round meekly. He does not kill them but picks them up by the tail, drop them in a bag and release them in the forest.
My family managed to get a part of the scene on mobile video but I don;t know if the 3GP format will play if uploaded.
The whole of last week a lot of goats too were coming to term and so we already had about 10 kids in the space of a week with some more due. The kids are very cute and adorable and frisky.. I prefer goat kids to lambs..

Still have one rabbit left and will think of populating them again slowly once we get a handle on the goats... Also running a clutch of farm chickens whose meat may be tougher than the broilers in the market, but their eggs are nutritionally richer.. trying to bring the farm back to life after the disaster with the failed Dairy which wiped me out completely.. lol.. a gamble that failed badly.. and took its toll on all aspects of my life...

One good thing about being home in April-May is that it is the mango season and we have so many varieties just on our farm alone..

Well, now I am back in Spain just when the rain is about to hit India. Should be my last trip in Europe, I am expected to transfer back to Russia.. (I had asked to be transferred there as I like the place and people there)
Time to go to bed after working all night .. leaving kisses and hugs for my lovely ladies of the kitchen.

Yes it is a farm.. albeit a small one..
which is why I have that big aviary with about 70+ birds.. and the rest of the animals.. going to add a variety to the farm with ducks and geese.. etc.. thot of an Ostrich or an Emu, but the damn things are too big and need a lot of space.. lol.. right now am still trying to get the bits and pieces together after my Dairy venture wiped out all I had and am still neck deep in debt...
Anyway.. will figure out something and right now the goats are a promising prospect.. rugged and do not need as skilled labour as the cows did..

Hope Charlie checks in soon and keeps makes up for lost time... lol.. I am sure u'll drain him pretty quick...
