Morning Coffee And Sweet Surprises (Closed to Poprockz)

"I know..." Sabastian mumbled, watching Vin grab the gas cans and lift them up, commenting on Sabastian's strength. Honestly, they hadn't been that heavy, and he thought he could probably carry more than that, but he had to pretend to be normal so he simply nodded. "Haha, yeah. It was a bitch to lug them back, though."

He followed the man to the car and decided that it was time to present him with his gift. Once Vin set the cans down by the gas tank, Sabastian swiftly wedged himself in-between Vin and the car to get his attention. A little sly smile on his face. "You know how you lost your guitar? I maaaay have found one while I was in town." His cheeks went slightly pink under the man's gaze and he quickly added, "it's not like I went looking for one, I stumbled upon it on the way."

That was an outright lie, of course. In actuality, he had gone into the pawn shop with the guitar on his mind for the handsome man, he just didn't want to open that can of worms by saying so.

He was surprised when Sabastian suddenly scooted between himself and the car, and the close proximity made him take a step back, not wanting to be overcome again by feelings that he could do nothing about. But damn if he wasn't making it hard with that sly smile, making Vins heart beat a little quicker.

"Oh yea?"

He got a big grin, a little excited at the prospect of being able to play again. He wanted to peak around his back to see what type it was, but the little man looked so damn excited that he kept himself still and waited patiently, not wanting to ruin the fun for him. He was assuming it was just something simple, maybe a not too big, probably basic mahogany. Honestly he didn't care as long as it had some strings and he could adjust it.

In the back of the car, without it running, it was starting to get a little hot. Cora started stirring from her sleep and pushed the blanket off of herself and to the ground, then laid her head back against Damien. Still pretty deep in the trance of sleep, she looked out the window with hooded eyes, trying to make sense of what she was looking at.

After a few more seconds of staring, it finally clicked in her brain that that was Sabastian standing there, and Vin was in front of him. They seemed to be having a conversation about something, but she didn't much feel look moving from her comfortable position, so she just listened in from where she was at.

Sabastian's smile grew a little more smug, "yeah."

He reached up and lifted the strap over his head, cradling the guitar bag in front of him and rubbing his hand up and down the fabric as though he was stalling on opening it. He was, just to see that eager look on Vin's face as he waited in anticipation. With very slow movements, he daintily grabbed the zipper and slowly opened the bag, keeping eye contact with him as he did so. Shit, this was almost as good as Christmas, seeing Vin smile like that at the impending gift. Sabastian found himself giddy at the thought of what his reaction would be like.

When it was full unzipped, he slowly opened the bag and showed him the splendid silver guitar, holding his hands out so that Vin could take it and inspect it for himself. It was the moment of truth, and he hoped that Vin would like it and that it was the right kind of guitar.

Damien had awoken when Sabastian had come back, but hadn't bothered to move or get up, still wanting to cling to his little nap. Even if it was super stuffy in the car now, he would have cuddled Cora until he boiled alive. He peeked one eye open and watched out the window as well, not making any movements to indicate he was awake.

He cocked an eyebrow at him as he so slowly opened the bag, and his own smile grew very amused. Whatever he had found, he sure seemed really happy about presenting it like some kind of gift.

He saw a flash of something metallic, and his expression became a bit confused. That was, until Sabastian finally opened the bag.

He had about a full two seconds where he just stared, mouth partly open and his eyes a little wide. The thing that finally makes him react is he drops the jug of gas he had been holding, and he quickly bends over to pick it up, momentarily thinking he was spilling it when it actually still had its lid on. After he sits it up right, he immediately turns his attention back to the guitar.

"Holy shit" he finally manages.

His hands take it almost gingerly, like he's afraid to break it, and as he holds it up in the sun, his eyes roaming every contour, his grin grows absolutely huge.

"Holy shit," he repeats, sounding downright giddy.

"This is the coolest fucking guitar I have ever seen!"

His eyes go back to Sabastians face, beaming the full intensity of those pearly whites at him, then quickly the guitar has his full attention again.

In the back seat, Cora covers her mouth and breaths in a small gasp. She then giggles behind her hands and lets out a little girlish squee, finding the gesture from Sabastian to be absolutely adorable and so cute that she can't help but be giddy. She keeps it quiet though, not wanting him to hear her.

He lifts the guitar and seems to be inspecting every inch of it, turning it over in his hands and admiring the craftsmanship from every angle, then turning it back around and tentatively plucking a few strings. When it's melody rang out beautiful and true, Vin let's out a little laugh and bends over slightly before standing back up. He wasn't boyish by any means, but he can't seem to contain his utter excitement at the gift.

Suddenly he sits the guitar atop the roof of the car, and looking down at Sabastian with that wide grin, he scoops him up into a full on bear hug, lifting the little man like he weighs nothing more than a paperclip, and swinging him from side to side before putting him back on his feet. He places his hands on his shoulders for a moment, still grinning wide, then pulls him in for one more tight hug before letting go and picking the guitar back up.

"This is so fucking cool!"

Vin felt at a loss for words, and 'fucking cool' seemed to be the only way in which he could describe the sweet instrument.

Sabastian watched Vin as he made the final reveal, waiting for a reaction. When Vin simply stared in shock, he was almost afraid that he had messed up, gotten a different kind of guitar that he wouldn't be able to use. That would be a cruel thing, giving the man false hope before crushing him. He bit his lip in worry before he jumped at the loud thump of the gas can.

A breath of relief escapes him as Vin starts exclaiming and grinning as he inspects the instrument. His shoulders relaxed and he felt such relief that he had to lean against the car for a moment.

His heart starts to beat more quickly as the man started to express his utter joy at the gift, holding it like Sabastian had giving him a diamond the size of a softball. Sabastian decided that he would have endured a hundred scoldings if it meant that he could see that excitement that Vin simply couldn't contain. The man's grin was infectious, and he couldn't help but beam back at him.

He liked it! He liked it a lot! Sabastian hoped that maybe this would make up for shutting the man down, and part of him selfishly wished that when they ended up parting ways that maybe the man would think of him whenever he caressed the well-crafted guitar.

The bear-hug caught him off-guard, but he didn't have time to do or say anything about it. He wasn't sure he would have anyway. The way the man's strong arms wrapped around him and lifted him up felt so right and he wished it wasn't such a brief gesture. Having his chest pressed against Vin's felt so intimate and he couldn't help but breath in the man's scent once more.

When he was set back down, he wobbled a bit and then stood up straight. "Thank God. I was worried there for a second."

Damien leaned forward ever so slightly and whispered in her ear, "what are you giggling about? Didn't he just give him a gift?"

"Worried? Are you kidding me? How could I not love this?"

His eyes seem to be glued to the instrument, his hands all over it as he starts to tune it and pluck the strings, not making any coherent tune but seemingly just getting a feel for the instrument.

In the backseat, Cora flinches slightly, not having realized Damien was awake. She gives him a mischievous grin as soon as she recovers though, but for a moment she remains silent. She wasn't sure if she wanted to spill the beans. However, looking out the window and watching how excited Vin was acting made it just too juicy to keep to herself.

"This stays between us" she whispers, very seriously.

"Vin has been flirting with Sabastian ever since he woke up after the gas station, and I think Sabastian just went out of his way to find him a gift. Eeh!" she squees again, clapping her hands together and putting them up to her lips.

"They're so stinkin cute!"

She peels her eyes away from the window just long enough to give Damien a very serious little pout.

"I mean it. Not. A. Word. Sabastians much too Mr.Grumpy pants to let it out in the open."

Sabastian simply stood there, his face moving to a soft smile as he watched Vin. He was so proud of himself for succeeding in getting him something that would lift his spirits, but even more than that, the joy he experienced made Sabastian's heart warm.

Damien's face looked surprised. "Vin's gay? I mean bi? Huh." He thought for a moment. Damien didn't care what his sexual preferences were, but part of him was a bit relieved that the man had the hots for Sabastian and not Cora. It made him feel like he might be able to be more relaxed around the guy. However, there was something that bothered him a little.

"I hate to be the burster of bubbles, but are you sure that this is going to go somewhere? Sabastian is kind of a zombie. Not that that's a bad thing, necessarily, but don't you think he's going to be really insecure about that? We don't even know how they lay eggs." He really didn't want to think about Sabastian with his cock in Vin's mouth as he pumped literal eggs inside him. The man shuddered for a moment.

"Alright" Vin said.

"I'm going to tune this bad boy, and the next time we stop for the night, you get first dibs on what I play, sound fair?"

He was already tuning it, but he honestly didn't think he would get tired of playing with it anytime soon.

Cora looked at him as the realization suddenly dawned on her, and then she looked out the window at Sabastian. A sudden heavy sadness came over her, and she suddenly realized how attached to him she had gotten. She wanted to see him happy, and the thought of him never being able to be with someone in an intimate way broke her heart.

Her eyes travel down to the door handle for a moment, though she seems to be looking through it. Her face seems to be extremely concentrated, as if she's trying to figure out the answer to some huge, life altering dilemma. In a way, she was.

"I don't know" she finally says.

"Damien...let's try and get to your safehouse as quickly as we can."

Her eyes meet his then.

"I want to find a library, and start studying."

She didn't expect to change the world-she was sure there were people out there that were a lot smarter than her that were already working on that, but maybe she could help change their world. Just the little group of people that now meant everything to her.

Sabastian nodded happily, “I already know what song I want.” He got a bit quiet for a moment and then spoke softer, a bit of a distant look in his eye. “I want “you are my sunshine.” It’s a simple song, I know, but my mom used to sing it to me when I was little, and it always seemed to make things feel a little better.”

He stood there for a moment before quietly turning and opening the gas tank, unscrewing the lid to the can and starting to pour it in. It made him feel a bit nostalgic, a bittersweet feeling as he thought of his mother. She had been as loving and devoted as a mother could be. When she got sick, Sabastian had been the one to take care of her. There was never a day that he cursed having to wait on her; he had loved her dearly and felt he owed her everything.

Damien could see the determined look in her eye and he gave her a soft smile. She cared so much about people, even ones she had just met. If that didn’t showcase how kind her heart was, then he didn’t know what did. Personally, he also found it to be a shame for Sabastian not to be able to enjoy the intimacy of sex, but he wouldn’t have taken the issue into his own hands like Cora wanted to.

“Okay, let’s do that. The quicker we get there the better.” He gave her a quick squeeze to reassure her, kissing her shoulder for a moment before laying his head back down.

Delvin turned his big grin back to Sabastian, but when he saw the look on his face, it dropped just a little. As he listened to his request, his own smile turned soft and somewhat mirrored Sabastians. He knew exactly what the man meant, as his mother had sang that to him as well, along with various other songs, but there was something very special about that one. Especially when it came from a person whose whole being seemed to be devoted to you, and they had nothing to give but love.

"Sunshine it is, then" he said quietly. He wanted to tell him he would sing that song anytime Sabastian wanted, but he wasn't going to be travelling with him for much longer, and he didn't feel like digging that thorn of rejection in any deeper.

In the back, Cora watched as he laid his head down on her shoulder and if filled her with such a strong flush of love and affection. She loved how cuddly he was, and how cute his dark hair looked when it was messed up from sleep, going in every direction. She kisses the top of his head softly and then relaxes, waiting for Sabastian to finish up.

Damien smiled and sighed as he felt her soft kiss on his unruly head. It was starting to get really muggy in there, so he figured they should at least open the door to get some relief before they were on the road again and had the air conditioner on once more.

"We should probably let a little air in here. Lord knows that with the hotness you exude, we're both going to end up roasted soon in this little car." He smirked and squeezed her ass, getting a nice handful of her soft cheek.

Sabastian nodded and sighed wistfully, "she used to call me sunshine, you know? Because of my blonde hair." He chuckled softly, his eyes looking as though he was thinking of happy memories. "She used to say that I was full of blue skies and sunshine. Hard to believe, isn't it? Most people say I'm full of salt and vinegar. They're probably right too." He gave Vin a bit of a grin and set the gas can down, starting to empty the second one.

"Hey Vin... if things were different, do-" As he spoke his blue eye wandered and eventually made contact with Cora, realizing she was awake. He practically jumped out of his skin as his sentence was cut off, blushing slightly and hoping she hadn't been awake for most of that. An audible splash could be heard in the gas can and he quickly pretended as though he hadn't been surprised.

Cora didn't notice Sabastian jumping, as her face was turned to Damien, much to busy flirting at the moment to eavesdrop on the two men.

"If you keep squeezing my ass like that, I'm gonna show you the meaning of roasting..."

He was right though. It was quickly getting much too hot for comfort, and she wanted to stretch her legs before they got on the road again. She starts to shift herself over so she can get out of the car.

"I don't think that's too hard to believe" Vin said, trying not to let his gaze linger on Sabastian. It would have been all too easy to crack a joke about salt and vinegar being one of the best flavours, but he wasn't about to step over that boundary again.

"Hey Vin... if things were different..."

His eyes look back up from the guitar, and meet his.

"Hmm? What was that?"

Was he going to say something else about his mother? Or was he going to ask something else? Delvin was still riding under the impression that the little man had outright rejected him and didn't want him in anyway, so he had no clue as to what Sabastian might have wanted to ask.

The steely-eyes man leaned closer to her ear and murmured, “that’s fine with me, as long as you tie me in twine and butter me up.” He nipped her ear as she moved, helping her move slightly off his lap.

Sabastian paused with his back to Vin and then shrugged, “shit. Lost my train of thought, sorry.” Honestly, seeing Cora had saved him from dipping his toe further into a conversation that might get more intimate. He was going to ask if Vin would still enjoy his company if he had met him elsewhere when things were normal. That topic of conversation was a little too close to being flirty, and Vin didn’t deserve to be teased like that. He was such an honorable guy, backing off immediately without anger, and Sabastian didn’t want to rub it in his face.

The blonde saw the way Damien was whispering, and he made a little mischievous smile, pretending to be focused on them as he didn’t want Vin to push the “forgotten” sentence at all. Leaning forward, he breathed a hot breath on the window, drew a dick in it, snickered, and finished the last of the gas before picking up the empty cans and going to the trunk to put them back in.

Cora blushed a little at his cheesy proclamation. She couldn't quite picture him tied in rope, but the thought of getting to lather food on him and lick it off was getting her a little hot and bothered, especially considering he still had that tub of frosting sitting somewhere...

Her eyes wonder the car, unconsciously looking for it, until they travel up to the window. Her eyes widen for a second, and then they narrow.

"Sabastian!"

Suddenly she was up and out of the car, a playful grin on her face as she comes around the side of the car.

"I'm gonna get you for that you little spy!"

Vin was watching with curiosity, not having seen what Sabastian had seen. When he drew the picture on the window, he just grins and shakes his head.

"Cora!" he calls as she comes around the car, probably going to give the little man a wedgie or something along those lines.

"Look what he found! Now I can show you all some real tunes!"

He holds the guitar up in the air proudly, overjoyed that they were both awake now and he could show his new toy off.

"It needs a new string, and I need a little time to tweak it a bit, but I think this bad boy is going to sing like no guitar ever has before."

Damien followed her gaze as she exclaimed, a grin coming to his face as he saw the crude drawing of the dick on the window. He laughed as Cora burst out of the car, a rush of slightly cooler air coming in. Getting up, he exited the car and leaned against it, watching with amusement.

The quick little blonde let out a playful little squeal before he dodged Cora and skittered over to Vin, hiding behind him. He had taken advantage of the fact that she looked away while Vin told her about the new guitar. Tugging on his shirt lightly, Sabastian looked up at him and said, “you have to protect me from this madwoman! I’m innocent, I swear!”

He reached into his pocket and pulled out the small back of strings. “Also, I grabbed strings for it too if you need it.” The man held it out for Vin, the bag still warm from his body heat.

“I’ll believe that you’re innocent the day someone tells me that you don’t look like an adorable pirate.” Damien grinned wider.

Sabastian narrowed his eyes at him. “Remind me again where you got the eyepatch, Damien!”

The other man cleared his throat and shrugged, “I don’t see what that has to do with this.”

Vin gave Sabastian a grin before looking back to Cora.

"It's ok, I'll pin him down later when he's sleeping and we can give him a black beard."

Cora laughed and walked over, running her fingers over the smooth metal of the dragons head.

"It looks like whoever made this put a lot of love into it. You'll have to take good care of it."

She walked back a few feet and started stretching, the heat of summer already making her sweat and want to find a river to jump in.

"Fuck it's hot out here...let's get back in the car. Oh yea, who's turn is it to drive, anyway?"

Delvin looked between the group, not feeling like volunteering. Partly because it wasn't his car and he was a bit of a stranger, but mostly just because he wanted to practice with the guitar. Although, he wasn't sure how he was going to do that comfortably just yet with how big it was. Maybe if it put it up against his chest like a violin...

"Also, I grabbed strings for it too if you need it."

"Oh hell yea, you thought of everything."

He immediately starts loosening the string he was worried was on the verge of snapping and pulls out another in preparation. It would be a little easier to do while sitting down, but that would simply take too long and he wanted to get it in tip-top shape as soin as possible.

Cora saw the way the man was totally obsessed with the instrument and it made her laugh.

"So what are you going to play first?"

She had already heard what Sabastian had picked, but she was curious how Vin was going to handle that, it being a bit of a lullaby for kids and not really something adults usually bothered to put on. However, he surprised her, as without even missing a beat he says:

"I need a good warm up song, so I was thinking a lullaby. Something like 'You Are My Sunshine'. It hits some good notes and will let me get a feel for the strings."

She knew that wasn't quite the whole truth, as he could have picked anything he felt comfortable with really, but he didn't seem to want to embarrass Sabastian. She had a feeling in her gut that one way or another, Vin would likely be travelling with them for a while.

Sabastian looked aghast for a moment before letting out a playful wounded scoff, "Vin! You've betrayed me! I hope you can live with the guilt!" He gave him a fake pout and and pushed out his lower lip.

When they talked about driving, Sabastian piped up, "I can continue to drive. I feel more pumped than I've been for a while, so I've got energy in me yet." As much as he secretly wanted to be cuddled up next to Vin in the back, he wanted to get the chance to listen to the man play with the guitar for a while beside him as he drove. Besides, now that Vin was awake, maybe they would have time to chat a little and further their friendship.

Now that Damien was aware of the attraction between the two men, he silently looked at Sabastian and wondered what Sabastian's intentions were. It didn't seem like Vin was flirting with him, but Sabastian seemed to be intent on spending more time with the man, like a puppydog that just couldn't stay away. The way his eye seemed to sneak looks at Vin when he wasn't looking... it made Damien a bit sad to think that Delvin might leave because his own shit. He resolved to have a little chat with Vin when the other two were asleep- this time, there would be no threatening, just simple conversation.

The little blonde-haired man watched with great satisfaction as he took the strings and started putting one in. It was fascinating to watch him adjust and tune the instrument. Part of him wished that he was that guitar, being tweaked and held in the hands of that handsome man.

When he mentioned playing "you are my sunshine" without mentioning Sabastian's request, he blushed slightly. He felt his heart go a bit quicker as he realized that he was keeping what he had said between the two of them in confidence. The gesture warmed his heart and made him smile softly, looking away presumably before anyone caught it.

Vin had looked over his shoulder at Sabastian and given him his toothy grin.

"This heart of mine has no room for guilt-only liquor" he teased.

Cora was enjoying the playful atmosphere, but it was so damn hot outside it was putting a little damper on her mood. Besides, now that they were all awake and rested, she was looking forward to the car ride and having some pleasant conversation and maybe a little music. She wasn't sure if Vin could play the guitar in the car with how cramped it was, but if he could, it would be really nice to let loose a little and sing along.

Daphne's beautiful face flashed through her memory for a moment, and she wondered briefly if the women would have sang with her. If she would have enjoyed travelling with them and playing along. Just as quickly as it came, though, she squashed it down and started heading back to the car.

"Well let's pile back up then. It's hot as hell and I'm sure Bowie's not enjoying being toasted like a rotisserie chicken in there either."

Sabastian laughed at Vin's reply, giving him a playful smack to his arm. "You devilish man!"

When Cora mentioned Bowie, Sabastian's eye widened and he suddenly looked very concerned. He joggled quickly to the driver's seat and turned on the car, switching on the AC as cold as it could go. The man had forgotten about the snake and felt a bit guilty that he had let it get that warm in there for him. Reaching down at the foot of the passenger seat, he unzipped the carrier and took Bowie out and cradled him, wanting him to at least be near the cool air before the car was cooled down. He was really fond of Bowie, and he would hate himself if he let anything happen to the little snake.

Damien was also a bit concerned, but he simply watched as Sabastian returned to the car. He walked back over to the car, happy that he didn't have to drive. This way, he could keep his lady on his lap and perhaps have a little fun with her. Not too much of course, but enough to keep her on her toes. Getting into the car, he buckled his seatbelt and waited for Cora to pile in and sit on his lap again.

Vins grin only grew wider at the playful banter, immensely enjoying this lighter side that Sabastian was displaying. At the mention of the heat, his attention is finally taken away from the instrument and all at once he notices how sweaty he is feeling. Truth be told, he hadn't had anything close to a good shower in well over three days and he was starting to feel a bit self conscious. The next time they stopped, he was going to try and find himself a creek bed if he could, and at least least rinse the sweat and dirt from his pores.

He went ahead and got in the front seat and buckled up, noticing how concerned Sabastian was over the snake.

"Careful" he said gently, reaching out to push Sabastians hands down just slightly. Cora had taken that time to get in the back seat, and she commented as well.

"Yea, be careful sweety. Snakes can't regulate their temperatures like mammals can. Extreme shifts in temperature are more harmful than gradual ones. Besides, he likes it a little hotter than mammals, around ninety eight when he's basking, so he's ok."

She gave him a smile and a little squeeze on the shoulder.

"Thank you for being so careful with him though."

She then leaned back and started digging through her pack for a moment, then she brought out the solar battery and a huge bag of beef jerky sticks. Opening it up, she grabbed one for Damien and herself, then put the bag up front with the boys. After that was done, she grabbed her phone and looked up a song.

"Hey Vin, give this a listen and see if you can play it on the guitar."

She handed him the phone and ear buds while she chewed on her jerky.

He looked up in confusion as he felt those rough hands upon him, looking back at Cora next as she explained. His face looked a bit guilty as he looked down at Bowie. "Sorry," he mumbled. It wasn't quite clear whether he was apologizing to them or to Bowie, but he felt he had to say something. To his surprise, the snake lifted his head and moved forward slowly, touching his nose to Sabastian's briefly before pulling away and trying to slither onto his shoulder.

The blonde felt a bit comforted, smiling slightly before taking Bowie and tenderly putting him back into his carrier.

Damien accepted the beef, glad to have a little grub since it had been hours since they had breakfast. "Thanks." He said before taking a bite and chewing with satisfaction. He was curious what song she was sharing with Vin, but he figured he'd be playing it in no time anyway.

Sabastian was curious as well, watching Vin's face as he listened to Cora's song. Reaching into the bag Cora had set down, he took out a beef stick and put it in his mouth, munching on it as he watched. He wasn't using any hands, the stick simply wiggling around as he chewed and simultaneously kept it in his mouth.

Cora stopped her chewing momentarily to grin as Bowie did a literal nose boop.

"Daaw, that was adorable!"

Vin hadn't quite caught it, too busy listening to the song as he waited for Sabastian to get them on the road. Once it had played all the way through, he hit repeat before giving a little nod to Cora.

"Yea, this one shouldn't be too hard. I'm assuming there's lyrics that go along with it?"

She nodded, taking another bite of her jerky and reaching forward to gently pet Bowie under his chin before Sabastian put him back in his carrier.

"Mm-hm. Once you do your warm up song, I'd like to sing it. It's been a minute."

He gave her a thumbs up as he listened once more, plucking a few strings on the guitar. Once it was done, he handed the phone back to her and started using his nail to play out the tune to 'You Are My Sunshine'. He let himself get familiar with the cords, and on the second go around, he began to sing.

https://youtu.be/ZHaLx2hNxO8

He decided to go with the Johnny Cash version, finding the mood a bit more fitting for the times they were currently in. It also conveyed a bit of his own sadness in having lost his mother just a few years back.

"The other night dear, as I was sleeping,

I dreamt I held you in my arms...
"

His voice was somewhat quiet, though still loud for the car. He kept the tone soft and deep, and when he was done, he decided to sing it again. The way the guitar felt in his hands, propped across his whole waist and leaning just slightly into Sabastians side, felt cool and good. He would have thought because it was made more for looks, that it wouldn't have played as well, but it proved him wrong and made the most beautiful melody, almost better than any guitar he had ever played before.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine..."

Cora put her jerky down as she watched the man play, his voice absolutely breathtaking. It filled her with such a sense of both awe and sadness at the tone of the song, that she thought she might cry. She leaned back against Damien and simply listened, sighing softly as the song came to an end.

Sabastian closed his eyes as he let Vin's voice wash over him. His voice was so melodious and sexy, and yet it was more than that as he sung the melancholy song, it had true feeling and sadness. The way his voice carried the words made Sabastian's heart ache, joyous and painful memories coming to the forefront of his mind. Somehow, Vin made him feel like he could simply sit with both of those emotions (among others) and simply accept them for what they were.

He hadn't realized it, but tears streamed down his face, even from under the eyepatch as he rested his head back. Sabastian felt like he was mourning for his mother, for himself, and for all the people who had lost their lives. His hands shook slightly as he simply let himself silently cry, cradled by the soft melody that Vin spun around him.

Damien held Cora closer, not only for her but for himself. He too was feeling a mix of emotions from the man's breathtaking talent. What he wanted most in this world was currently nestled against him, so he didn't see why he should feel regret or sadness. And yet... his sweet music pulled at his heartstrings and made him feel things he really didn't want to feel. He focused on Cora, denying the feelings that fought to break through.

Cora could feel Damiens body tensing a bit and he hugged her close and it made her a little concerned. Was he trying not to cry? She wished he felt like he didn't have to try so hard to hold things back, but she wasn't about to try and dig it out of him now. If they had been by themselves she might have tried a little, but right now, she simply reaches for his hand and brings it up for a soft kiss.

Vin looked over to Sabastian, giving him a little smile. He started to bring his hand up with the intent of wiping the mans tears away, but seeing as that might be interpreted wrong, he simply puts the hand on the handle of the guitar and starts to pluck some strings. He chooses a lighter song this time, not singing it but simply playing an instrumental version.

He knew it was best to give the audience a little bit of time to recover after a very emotional song, and from the tune of the song that Cora had requested, he could take a guess that hers was going to be emotional as well. Best to let them have a bit of a breather between the two. Once he has that one done, he begins to strum out the tune that she had requested.

https://youtu.be/tCALOghFMS0

Cora sits up a bit and takes a nice and slow deep breath before letting it out. She waits until he has played the song fully through once, letting him get a chance to feel it out and correct any missed cords. Once he starts to play it again, she opens her mouth and lets her voice take on a bit of a deeper tone, one that she hasn't shared with Damien yet.

Vin doesn't stop strumming, but his eyes widen and he looks over his shoulder at the women in surprise. In return, she gives him a playful grin. He returns it, then turns back around in his seat and closes his eyes, tapping out the beat with his foot along with the strings.

Sabastian sniffled a little and sighed, letting the second song give him a reprieve. Since his eyes were closed, he didn't see Vin reaching out to him. He just let himself rest while he recovered from the overwhelming feelings.

He perked up a bit when he heard his guitar start playing Cora's song. It was one of his own favorite songs, and of course he knew all the words to it. Sabastian was a bit hesitant, not sure whether he should join or not. However, the more he listened to her, the more he was tempted to sing along. Her voice was so beautiful, and he loved the way she caressed each of the notes with that gorgeous voice of hers.

Damien was sitting back and simply enjoying the soft notes of the guitar when he heard her begin to start singing. His eyes snapped open, and he looked at her in surprise. Damn, her voice was so lovely. It was like a sweet stream of amber honey that he was slowly sinking into. The man's heart felt warm and he blushed deeply, unsure but completely enraptured by her. How in the world had she fallen in love with him? Someone so talented and precious. He hung on every word, afraid that if he even looked away he might miss a moment of it.

The blonde man decided to join her, despite usually not wanting to put himself out there. The circumstances were lined up just right for him to feel comfortable enough to lean back and close his eyes once more, opening his mouth and letting his own voice softly join hers at the part where the second person usually sang. His voice was light and sweet, harmonizing well with the deep richness of her own voice. He felt like singing with her was therapeutic, really feeling the line "that I might lose me."

Sabastian sang with feeling, for once not thinking about what anyone might think of him and simply letting himself have this sweet duet with her.
