Movie binge

We've already seen Shrek 3 and Pirates 3. Loved them both. I'm very easy to please when it comes to movies. I don't look for much more than a couple of hours of entertainment.

We'll definitely see: Harry Potter and Bourne

The kids want to see: Ratatouille and Nancy Drew

Our local theater has a free movie morning, and we'll probably go to that several times. The shows are not first run, I think this week it's Monster House, but are kid-friendly.

One of the most enjoyable things my kids and I have done, was to get classic movies from the library. Last summer, I looked up the American Film Institute's website list of 100 best. We brought the list to the library- or the video store for some and got the Best feel good movies, best comedies, etc. I rented things like Night at the Opera and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, and my boys loved it. I had never seen many of the movies, and all the movies on the list are very good. My kids are probably older than yours, 10 to 17, so we did not have to get "kid" movies. I did not have to buy five tickets, the popcorn was warm from the microwave, it was wonderful entertainment after a long hot day.
