Right, now I have a problem. I've persuaded the best person I know to stop lurking and join Lit, only she won't post on the Author's Hangout yet. Shockingly enough, she thinks you're all very scary people.

This thread is an attempt to lure her out into the open and convince her that you won't be mean to her.

So I hope you'll join me in saying - Welcome to the AH Elsie Grey.

Hulloh, Elsie! Welcome to the fun.

True, there can be meanies here too from time to time, as in all aspects of life. But the great thing about a place like this is that those people are hundreds, if not thousands of miles away, and if you don't like them, it's your choice to acknowledge them or not.

So enjoy what is good (which is most stuff), and ignore the rest.

And have a cool yule. :rose:

...who couldn't hurt a fly. I tried once, and it bit me.

Happy Xmas, Elsie.

Welcome to the "Cheers" of pornographers.

Come on in Elsie. Most of us here don't bite (unless that's what you want).

It's more like a wildly insane, largely disfunctional, multilingual, multicultural family... sort of. But it sure is a lot of fun. :rose:

Just enter flattering and everything will be fine.

My own experience was that I first entered Lit through the Poetry board, telling everyone that their poetry sucked. That didn't work out so well for some reason.

But any friend of Earl's will be a friend of ours. You come most highly recommended.

Interresting. I gatta go dig that up one of those days. ;)

Edit: Ok, I went and did a seach. I must say that you were pretty polite and nice, compared to some other critics that have passed through that board since I joined up about a year ago.

I didn't lurk that long, but my good friends BlackShanglan and Oh MissScarlett were already established on the board, and I just answered their posts for awhile before people seemed to notice me.

Everyone here's pretty nice, if you are. :rose:

Well, still being new myself I can still recall fairly accurate. I didn't lurk for too long. I read a bunch of the free stories and got inspired to write some myself. I can attribute my entry to one person. sxy_kitten. If not for her I wouldn't be here. I listened to her audios and then contacted her. I sent her a story I was working on and we talked via e-mail for a long time. She gave me the confidence I needed to join. Once I did join, I went to GB first. That was a bad experience. The people there were too much like the people I deal with at work. Then I came here, the AH, for story advice and found that the AH people are the best people that I've ever met. Everyone here is so nice, and truly have become a family to me. Elsie, I hope you join and we'll welcome you openly into the family here.

Don't do it Elsie!!! Its a trap!!!!

Just joshin, though I do think one time I was posting with vella and I felt something nibblin my nipple, but it was kinda nice. Anywho I like newbies and I will let you hide in my dungeon, uh, I mean basement until you get to know everybody. Join the AH and have some nice friendly discussions with peoples, we don't do the group sex to welcome newbies since that last big fiasco where Earl got that big thing stuck on his dong and we had to rush him to the emergency room. WELCOME!!!!!!!!

My first post was to Manu, telling him there was a problem with the site.

After that it's kind of a blur. I ended up tied to a bed somewhere in Ohio.

Hello *peeks her head around the doorframe*

Hello everyone!

I'm still a bit scared but thanks for the warm welcome! Umm, whats an AV? I didn't understand that!

Also The Earl is once agian over exagerating about me. I'm still blushing now!

Anyway, I'm gonna stop babbling and leave you all in peace for a little bit!

Welcome to you.

An AV is the little picture to the left of the post. You can put one of yours there when you have reached 100 posts. Only 99 to go.

At present the legend under your name says 'Virgin'. That changes to 'Experienced' and other titles when you have posted enough. I think, without looking it up in the FAQs, that it changes at 30 posts.

When you reach 1000 posts you can title yourself anything you like and change it. Mine currently reads Ho! Ho! Ho!

Please feel welcome in the AH. We are generally friendly. If you have any questions please ask in the Newbie Support Thread. Someone will try to be sensible for a few moments and answer.

Hi Elsie!

Welcome to Lit and the AH. :rose:

We are not scary, at all! Honest. Well, some of us aren't. See my title, then my sigline. LOL!

Seriously, any friend of The Earl's is, by default, a friend of ours.

Merry Christmas to you, I hope you have fun here.

Lou

...that's not really true. I have it on good authority that Og will do things to you for absolutely free if you ask nicely....

Welcome to AH. You'll find that most of the people here are just like everybody else . . . except weirder and with better grammar skills . . . except Vella, who speaks a language that really only she and Lucky understand, but the rest of us enjoy listening to.
:D

And Tatelou kinda has her own language as well . . . I think she speaks British. :p

Regardless, once you've gone AH you'll never want to leave! Or be able to for that matter. I've been looking for the door for months . . . It's like a friggin' casino, complete with free drinks (at Abstrusions). So kick up your feet and stay a spell!

Welcome to the Ah :)

I think we were all somewhat intimidated before we started posting here.

Merry Christmas :)

Everyone here has been great to me. I did lurk for awhile, trying to decide which board I wanted to be a part of. I think it was Lou's AV that lured me here, honestly. That and the chance to hang out with some of my favorite writers on Lit.

Having a real life friend who participates in Lit is great fun, you guys can call each other up on the phone and talk about the site like Carson and I do. Yes, we are that lame.

Seriously, welcome to the AH, Elsie, all the support you could ever need for writing is right here. I love these guys. Ok, I'm getting all weepy. -S.
