My Good Friend...

:D

I'm more interested in a stiff lower something, but we can start out with a stiff upper something.

(BTW, I thought you were going to have limited comp access? You're posting an awful lot for someone who isn't supposed to be here...not that I mind, not at all, but have things changed?)

On the twenty-first day it didn't feel too bad but at least I could still feel it. The ice was probably helping and I was praying almost constantly that the fridge holds out and the electricity stays on.

Heavens to Besty, how the hell is the broadband still on?

Doesn't really matter anyway. No one believes me when I tell them. Why should they?

Faceless words and godless oaths, I wouldn't believe me either.

And then there's Cartlidge. He/she is a fine upstanding person from what I can tell, but what do I know. Words and oaths.

Cartlidge told me a really funny story just the other day (other week? can't remember) It concerned a friend of his/hers (think I'll stick with hers, more comforting) A friend of hers who says ridiculous things like: There was no such thing as cutlery before WWII, everyone ate with their fingers right up until the Russian Revolution when Czar Nickolai (Nikita) was murdered in cold blood with his own invention, to whit, a fork. And she always had a website reference to back these things up, with maps and historical references and quite often photographs.

So anyway, (this friend wasn't the conspiracy type, she thought flying saucers were poo) she told Cartlidge that she'd googled her name and found that she was a married woman with 4 kids and had been missing since 1987. Cartlidge obviously didn't know what to say to that but checked out the evidence and when she tried contacting her friend again she's disappeared. She's never heard from her since.

Not really funny I suppose just mildly amusing.

But now I keep messenger turned on constantly, waiting for Cartlidge to disappear and desperately hoping I can convince her before she disappears.

What Min said.

Welcome Elsie, from a fellow Brit.

Matriarch's the name, also know at Mat, Mats, Auntie Mat.........but I NEVER answer to *shudder*.........no, not going to say it, because the juveniles in here will only make sure they use it.

Anyway, welcome aboard the Assylum Express. Glad to have you aboard.

Elsie, try matty, ma, or mamatty. I think she likes one of those. (Lisa runs away Laffin)

I'm not actually posting that frequently. I just make sure that I get a good volume whenever I do get a chance to get onto the internet. Plus I now have access to Elsie's computer. :D

We should help Elsie out by recounting our own stories of how we entered the fray. How long did you lurk? What made you take the plunge? Anyone gve you a hard time?

--Zoot

While I've been registered & submitting work to Lit for a while, I just "discovered" the forums a few months ago. Peeked in the GB -- and quickly backed away. Far too busy there for me. Lurked a bit on the story & poetry feedback forums -- and then landed in here. It's my kinda zoo. I felt at home right away.

Took a turn on the Story Discussion Circle, just to see what it was like. I envy those who've the ability to constructively critique in painstaking detail -- especially those who can do it without seeming vicious. It's not a place for the thin skinned, but it can be VERY helpful (once the bruises fade).

I still drop in on the story & poetry feedback forums from time to time (usually when I have new stuff posted), but prefer to hang here with the irregulars.

Anyhoo. Welcome, Elsie. Any friend of TheEarl's ... and all that jazz.

Hello Elsie, and welcome to the AH. This thread sort of sneaked in here and hid when I wasn't looking. This is a nice place to hang out although the people here are a bit strange sometimes. Most of us are nice, though. If you like to read smutty stories, this is the place to do it.:)

Hey guys!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm feeling a lot less scared now!

Colly and Fairysong I love your dolls! Did you make them? They're so cool!

I'm afraid it's going to be English typing all the way becuase I don't understand how you can type in American! That's the trouble with a private school education - it leaves you almost totally useless! I'll try and be understandable though!

The Earl is one of my closest friends and he always will be because he knows way to much about me! I talk to much for my own good! (especially at silly o'clock in the morning!)

Anyway - Happy Christmas!

Well Hello!!!

Just stopped by to see how you were doing. Looks like you meet the gang.

Glad you like my AV, I painted mine myself but I got my inspiration from AMY BROWN she does beautiful work.
Mine is not half as good and well I couldn't think of a background but I like mine just the way it is. Its just me!

As for typing English go right ahead, sometimes I type American, sometimes Irish and sometimes India and well I know too many languages for my own good(I get confused at times):p

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

hugs

Elsie Grey Welcome!!

I am a newbie myself(joined last week) and a bit shy. I found myself a little corner to call home and then began spreading my wings. I think I can get myself an AV by new years.

I'll see ya around.

welcome to the AH. No reason to be scared except if you stick your nose into the politcal threads.

Then you will be villified by Amicus or Lord Dragon Wing on the right, or by Cantdog or me on the left.

You can't win so maybe you should maintain a low profile for awhile until you are ready to go for the throat. No holds are barred.

It's all quite civil.

Amy Brown is very cool. I wish I was artistically gifted!

Given the amount of traveling time it takes for you to get here Earl sweetie, I don't think you'll be using this computer very often! Might let you use it on New Years Eve - if you're very nice to me! :p Speaking of which 10 out of 10 for your gentlemanly behaviour earlier and I promise to try and be more discreet next time!

I still feel like I'm very new, but I want to say welcome to you, and to moonlight too! If you really want to get your AV quickly, show up in the free association thread. That's a fast way to get posts and to get to know people too. It's fun... just ask the Alpaca.

I started posting here when I had a question about a story I had written and the people were just so helpful that I've stuck around. It's fun here. Feels homey and comfortable.

Sometimes I express disagreement but I hardly ever villify anybody

Are you sure you wanna be sendin' her over to free-association? There's some hot'n'heavy . . . political discussions on that thread!
