That's OK, Crim.

Drug the kid and start working. You'll catch up soon enough.

That's what I like about AH, there's always someone to pass on a little sympathy and understanding :)

Best wishes Crim :rose:

Who failed miserably at NaNo last year... :p

so did I. But, the cool thing is that I really didn't fail (and I'm sure you didn't either), because I still wrote more during that month that I ever have in thirty days. :)

I;m back to debating and amost all 900 some words I have down are italics now :)

Only bit of it I like, describing how he stinks as 'sweat and transmission fluid' so I have 4 keepers out of 900 some :)

oh well I know how I write and it'll be about 30K words on the 29th ;) so as long as I can get 20K before then I'm golden.

You're making us all look like puny humans again. I love it. :p

Indeed.

I haven't looked right through the thread.....is anyone keeping the running totals again, like Lou did last year, or are you all just going to keep tantalising us with random figures??

I don't have a clue how to do the tables and whatnot needed to do what she did last year, or I'd try. :(

I finished chapter one (already - I'm shocked as hell), and gonna take a break for awhile before maybe writing some more tonight. I really, really need to get ahead as quick as I can, so that when my ADD kicks in (and it will, no doubt), I'll have a little bit of a word cushion.

Well done.

I think, she simply got everyone to pm/mail/im her their daily running total, and she just put it in the first post on the thread which contained all the contestants, titles, genre, etc. and just updated it each day.

I think.

Would be easy to do I would think if you found last year's thread and copied the first entry. Ya think???

She made a table and posted a picture of it. The pic's gone. I already checked.

I don't mind trying my hand at it. Give me a few minutes, and I'll see what I can do.

The first entry on the thread (link in post above), shows the table she used to update each day. I don't remember anything else, this was how I kept up with who was doing what.

Good on ya, Crim.

The one I saw must have been from 2003, lol. I've got a table going. It's going to have that huge space like in the anthology thread, but I don't know how to get rid of it. When I get it done with the names I know are participating, I'll start a new LitWriDoNaNoWriMo thread for this year.

ok what do you fabulous author's think about this opening paragraph?

There comes a time in every person's life, when they look at their past. For some people, their past is filled with accomplishments and rewarding things that they have taken part of. For others, a look into their past will reveal many ups and downs, some successes and some failures, but overall their life has been good. Still others will look back, and see the gloomy, black hole of their life, and they will wonder: Where did it all go wrong?

Complete trash? or passable?

Awesome Colly, I've got my first chapter in the bag now, 2494 words, and the headache is killing me - but then I'm just a weak and feeble fella

That's it for me today, though I'll probably fiddle around with chapter two and get a few markers down ready for tomorrow. Half a day ahead and we've a long way to go. People of my age have to pace themselves you know.

Pfft... That's just an excuse. :D

Now where did my caffeine IV go?

That and it doesn't matter WHAT it sounds like right now. The whole point is just to get it down. Work with the inner editor later.

And on another note...
This is my first novel and I'm writing it in .doc format. I thought I would just write in one document, but I'm finding that to be kind of confusing.
What do others do? A separate .doc for each section? Each chapter?
And doing total word counts? Do you just add up each day?

I am thinking of doing a main .doc with everything in it, and then c and p'ing each chapter / section into a separate document as well?
Any thoughts on this??

That makes one...you writer people are fairly intimidating.

We're just necessarily self-absorbed.
Make some more noise or flash something shiney and we'll perk right up!

Not trash, but it's a very contemplative opening. You tend to want to grab a reader with the first few lines. Itmight work better if you have someone thinking that. It's deep enough to give said character a hook and people might want to know more abou tthe guy/gal who was thinking that.

Just a suggestion :)

I just do mine all in one document with either *** or CHAPTER ** separating the different sections.
