Okay, I have about seven hours til the start..you guys are where?

I'm England, so I have an hour and 5 minutes. Welcome to the AH Danielle. It's my first NaNo as well; my last novel took me 2 and a half years to finish!

Well, I'm off to be a heretic and visit my new Gods. See you guys in a bit.

The Earl

2 minutes to go.

Gonna write a short opening, and then go to bed.

U ready Flicka?

Just over an hour to go hear in UK, not sure I'll make a start tonight and tomorrow is looking difficult. Travelling all day Wednesday so going to hit it running on Thursday.
Plot: Political thriller based around military technology.

Still six hours for us. I'll probably be passed out before then. Not going to get off to the start I did last year I fear.

I'm in Milwaukee, and I also have about 7 hours. But I'll probably wait until morning.
Or not.

Been relaxing, listening to some music and waiting for midnight when this one came up. Pilgrim - it touched me as being in some way symbolic of the journey we're about to undertake. This is only the first verse, but so appropriate.

Best wishes to everyone.

Chris :rose:

Pilgrim how you journey,
On the road you chose.
To find out why the winds die,
And where the stories go.
All days come from one day,
That much you must know.
You cannot change what’s over,
But only where you go.

Pilgrim.
A great song from Enya.
Lyrics by Roma Ryan

Oh, I'm going to do it...I've already got my first line taped to my computer...lol...eager to start and anxious to finish.

Do they read these or is it just to see who finishes? :D

they have a bot that "reads" them and tabulates words. If you're over 50K you get a win. There are lots of winners at nano and no loosers. They don't read content and delete your work after it's word processed so your ideas stay your own with no fear of them being filched.

Opening sentences:

My balls have shivelled up to raisin size and I've got frostbites like a motherfucker. I can't breathe, or my teeth will crack. I can't feel my nose. I can't feel my toes. I guess I'm better off that way anyway. They'd just roar cataclysmic pain back up at me until I had to give up and gnaw them off.

This is not winter, it's some kind of sick cosmic joke. I took a wrong turn by the lake and ended up on the dark side of the moon. Not our moon. Charon, the little pebble that spins around Pluto, where ammonium is solid and two digit Kelvins are considered a heat wave. I hate this place, where you have to put on moosehair underwear and wrap yourself in a large animal, or you'll end up a popsicle when merely taking out the garbage.

I hate this place, and I fucking hate penguins. That's the only redeeming grace of this freezer. The freezer with the penguins in it is on the other side of the planet.

We'll see where that leads....

Okay, this is seriously cool. :)

Someone has designed an "active desktop" for NaNo. I've got it, and it's going to be some help, I think, getting through the month and succeeding. There's all sorts of links, a timer to time yourself when you write, a calendar, etc.

You can get it here

This is what it looks like:

About 15 minutes according to our microwave... I'm shuffling all of my papers forward and backward right now. Gah!

I'm not even gonna start until tomorrow night. We'll see how wise of a desicion that turns out to be. *sigh*

I got this cool deck of inspirational cards about writing as a birthday gift. I thought I would post (or two) each day during NaNo...

Day One:

Say what you want to say.
Don't worry if it's correct, polite, appropriate.
Just let it rip.

*droooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool* :nana:

3500+ done last night.
Caffeine is heating.
Munchies at hand.
Word processor open.

No stinking words.

Of course I have nothing as of right now -- Trying to move shit around the apartment and since I was left with NOTHING but a microwave, some food and some bathroom accesorries, my computer isn't even hooked up right now, nevermind having the internet.

Good thing we have Abs' house.

19th birthday tomorrow!! :nana:

entitled, just put your hand in the same place as your AV - there's bound to be inspiration there... it inspires me.

Hey, logophile, that's a neat idea. Thanks.

And thank you too, cloudy. I'm going to check out the desktop.
