FallingToFly said:I had hoped all the issues were passing, but I just got off the phone with my mom and sister.
My aunt is in the hospital, and has been for a week. Her lung collapsed suddenly and they had her in tryign to figure out why and get her fixed up when the other lung collapsed. She's been airlifted to a different hospital where there is a diagnostic specialist and several top surgeons, but no one knows anythign yet. The tentative diagnosis is somethign called ALM- I know nothing about it and I'm researching now.
Just, if you would- send out healing thoughts an dgood vibes. she's my mom's little sister, the wild child of the family, and she actively supported and encouraged my writing long before any of the other family members did.
Thanks
FtF

Healing thoughts for FtF's Aunt.lucky-E-leven said:ALM? or AML?
I've never heard of ALM, but my first ever patient had AML (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia). I'm no specialist, but if you have any questions or concerns about any of the information you find, I'd be happy to try and help. At the very least, I have access to pretty comprehensive medical reference materials. It's good news that she's got access to specialists. I hope you get updated soon.

FallingToFly said:I don't think it's leukemia. Basically they said whatever this is is very rare and I'm pretty sure the acronym was ALM. However, I won't know anythign concrete until I can get hold of my grandparents or they contact my mom.

WHat she has is called LAM. There is exactly one research center for it in the US. It is fatal. She's in end stages.
This means my mom's probably going to move up to Pennsylvania in the next couple months. My aunt was the one who took care of my grandparents- both are still independent, but they do need someone to help with a lot of things like home repairs and driving to doctor's appointments and such.
I don't know what to feel right now- I'm numb, and waiting on more news.
