May be worth skipping over

We all have moments when we sit back and reflect on life and all the wonder and pain of it. Sometimes it's a happy joyous occasion that gives us reason to count our blessings and smile, sometimes it is forced upon us as a reminder of our mortality by the death of someone close to our hearts.

Three people, who were living breathing vibrant people last week, are now dead. Dead and in the ground. Two of these people I was playing wii tennis and bowling with last weekend and we all had drinks and laughed heartily. These people were my friends, they were a part of my heart and my life to an extent I hadn't even realized until they could no longer be there.

The world continues to turn, with or without them. I continue to function, to eat more or less, to sleep some and to breathe. But all of this seems somehow hollow now, the satisfaction I might have gotten from calling up my friend to pass along something funny, is no longer an option for me.

There really isn't much point in what I am putting down here, not for anyone else really. Just for me. Self serving grief mongering at it's worst. It's not as though these were the first people I have ever lost, nor will they be the last. But the sudden meaningless insult of the manner of their deaths makes it all the more potent.

We are told to accept death with grace and dignity. No, I don't think I will. I don't think being stoic and murmuring how they are in a better place is what I will do. And that is only partly as I do not share that particular belief, mostly it is because something very dear to me was taken away and I don't fucking feel like being graceful with it's loss.

Three people who should be alive, are dead. And thousands who should be dead are still alive, and there is no rhyme or reason for it, no great plan to it. Life, and death, happen regardless of our feelings in the matter.

The one thing I am taking away from this experience is that friends are rarely valued as much as they should be until they are gone. I suppose that is the big pay off for reading all of my melancholy meandering bullshit. I appreciate you.

I won't call each by name, because you already know who you are if we are friends. What you may not know is what you mean to me. I don't toss some words around lightly and can not, nor will I claim to love you all as friends. But I care for you, wish you only joy and happiness and peace, and my life would be colorless without you in it.

You are in my heart, broken as it is, it still holds.

I'm really sorry to hear your loss Empy.. but know this. As tough as it may be, YOU WILL remember them for all the happy times you guys had with eachother. To dwell is not worth it in the long run, not at all. Everyone has been given life, some respect and some abuse, and as much as we want it to stop ( Death I mean) we cannot, it's as natural as seeing birds fly freely, or a river flowing gracefully.

Death has it's purpose, and although you cannot see the valid reason why this happened, it didn't happen to on-purposely hurt you. Bad things happen everyday Squirtum, but think positive instead of negative- at least they are in a better place now, at least they got to meet you, to cherish their lives with you. Think about it: Chances are right now, they are watching down from above at you, smiling that you worry, care and respect as much as you do about them, but yet again, they want you to be happy too. Everyone does. I for one, I have a big heart, and I love all my friends- including you, and it pains for me to see you like this Empy, we are here for you!

I really do feel the pain your going through hun, but you need to keep your chin up and remember happy thoughts. There is always a light shining brightly within darkness- you just have to go towards the light.
I really hope you'll be okay, and remember that all of us on Lit are here for you whenever you need us. You will get through this!

As much as death is necessary for life, it always sucks when it affects you. Grieve as you feel appropriate and let no one tell you different. Accept your loss with as much or as little grace and dignity as you like, for only you can deal with it in your way. Regardless of what you do, our hearts are with you as you go through the seemingly random and senseless sorrow visited upon you.

You are welcome.

Most of the stuff is D20; D&D, Modern, Gamma World, Star Wars, and a smattering of other stuff.
