Babylon 5 is the best, well written, thought out series I have ever seen!

Sounds like a hell of a lot of fun!!

Now to hold m'lord hostage and get him to see B5... he's a B5 virgin!!

Heresy. First one's free though...

B5 was a'right.

I'll tell ya though, Star Gate SG1 really fucking grew on me.

My heart forever belongs to Trek though.
I defy anyone to look at the Defiant blowing holes through mother fuggas three to four times her size, and tell me she ain't a sexy piece of engineering.

An announcement: I will very soon get to watch 90 hours of Babylon 5 with a big-chested blonde girl.

I'm so freakin' excited. (She's pretty good-looking.)

Just waiting for her to get in touch with me, gave her all the info on Saturday. Hehe.

Pardon me, but...
1st of all, at the time it was on, I intentionally avoided it. Like the plague.
2nd, anit nobody strapping me down to watch a show.
For other reasons, maybe... ;)
I was the same way.
I watched the pilot movie, and wasn't terribly impressed by it,so I didn't bother to watch the show.
Then,a local staion started airing them at 2:00 AM Sunday morning. It was in my pre-cable days,so there was nothing else on at that hour.
It was right near the beginning of season 4,during it's first run.
I started watching.I got hooked. Big time.

That following June,I moved to a new address, and got cable. Just in time, too,'cuz that's when TNT started running re-runs of the previous 3 seasons.
I haven't been the same,since.

The question is, should he start with the (special editioned) pilot, The Gathering, or the get-new-fans-up-to-speed prequel of much higher quality, In The Beginning, which spoils some of the big backstory suprises of the first four seasons?

The original pilot wasn't too great compared to the beauty that is the rest of the show.

Chronicle_Tenko is a horrible nerd.

These are my opinons, Flame me but don't start a big war, I know I'm a horrible Nerd.

Star Wars was good, Not amazing but good. And yes I mean the original trilogy of 4 (IV) (A new Hope), 5 (V) (The Empire Strikes Back (Which was probably the best film of them all for me)), and 6 (VI) (Return of the Jedi (Because Revenge of the Jedi was turned down, the thought being Jedi Were above the thought of revenge)). And the second Trilogy, was pretty much just horrid. Though the middle one wasn't terrible. Just not very good. (Sierra says to tell everyone she liked the Ewoks movie. *Shudder* Spinoffs.

In all 4(5, 6???) series of Star Trek, I think I can count all the episodes I have watched without getting past fingers. And Most were TNG, I've only seen one Original, One DS9, And The pilot for Enterprise. Though I do know who virtually every actor on every show was and who they played, and I own all the films. Trek was never a big thing for me.

I've never bothered to watch more than three episodes of Space, Lost in Space, BSG (Old or New), Dr. Who (Old or New), or Most of the Spinoffs.

Stargate was somewhat forced on me, and I just didn't like it. Ever, EVER. It was... I want to say pointless, but truly it was just boring to me.

I have many MANY friends who love Babylon 5. And several more who have espoused it's glories, and told me stories and made me watch episodes and movie things, and told me that brush head is cool (Mollari?). I have read (and even enjoyed JMS' Comic book writing and books, (Though where he was going with the spider god thing I dunno), And Supreme Power was pretty cool. But I could just never get into B5.

Much As I like Whedon's writing, I couldn't stand Buffy or Angel. I will defend his work in astonishing X-men though, and Firefly as always was probably the Best TV I've seen since Futurama.

I've disliked most if not all of the Superhero shows, with a particular HATE of Smallville, (It's not Superman, and you are NOT ALLOWED TO FUCK WITH MY CANON THAT WAY, Or other problems the show has created.)

Though I enjoyed Highlander.

Some comics I made

Figure if anyone would be able to tell me what I did wrong it'd be you guys.

This was just me fucking around basically.

I tell you what Snakey I've read way worse. Your lines can get smoother, And each time I read Jormanund I wanted to scream Jor-Man-Gund-R. Jormangundr!

But the Noir style one was really nice. Cool backgrounds. I'd actually read a silent comic like that each week. As long as it told a cool story.

Ya know what? I think I wrote that spelling as a fill in until I could go look it up, but I forgot to now that I think about it.

Fair enough. I really did enjoy this, I should start drawing again.

Yeah, I think I'll let m'lord get away with it this time ;) ... you've been warned

Star Gate SG1 had the same effect on me! In the beginning it was so episodic.. like stand alone episodes without a consistent running topic, which is what I like in a series. Then as time went on, more and more episodes were about, or at least touched on an aspect of that topic.

ahhh... Trek was my first love! I know I am dating myself here, but I used to watch Star Trek TOS, first run airing, in my pajamas laying on my living room carpet.

Careful...
Too many m'lords, and I get a big head.

I like SG1 for the quick dialogue more than anything.
The time loop episode in particular was wonderful.

And don't worry about dating yourself here. We run the age range.
Hell, most of the nerds here still believe I'm in my twenties.

Snake, you've got some real damn talent there.
Still rough, but with time and effort, that could be a wicked edge you've got.

Alas, forgive me, the m'lord reference is not for thee, but for one who is my love and is close to me in mind body and spirit. My apologies for the confusion. And apologies in advance if I read you wrong. I have had 2 hours of sleep in the past 2 days.

That is my all time favorite! As well as the one where they were wearing the wristbands that the T'okra was testing SG1 with.

heh.. heh..

I've got to check that out!

Just making sure.
There is only one who may call me a lord.
But, she isn't here.

Nerds!

Take the Kotor quiz, and know thyself!

Damnable code copying isn't being nice to me tonight.
I got Kreia, and I am loathe to disagree.

*ahem* Movies. There were two Ewoks movies. And a cartoon, but that's not relevant.

While I of course consider the OT to be the One True Canon, the prequels were fun too. Episode One was weak in places, but each of the prequels got progressively better, and I have to say I love EpIII (Revenge of the Sith is the only one of the movies I have rewatched multiple times since the whole trilogy came out, and has my favorite of the SW intros, even if the ship IS going in the wrong direction. That said, it seemed like Hayden Christiansen was trying too hard to be James Earl Jones as Anakin, which made all his acting seem overly stiff.

Star Trek, I like bits and pieces from all of the series. My favorite TOS episode is The Enterprise Incident, because it has the super hot Romulan lady in it (I think the only time we see a super-hot Romulan lady before TNG retconned Romulans so their women had deformed foreheads and John Lennon haircuts), though there are numerous episodes I will sit and watch if I see them come on.

TNG was weak for the first two seasons, then picked up greatly in the third. My favorite episode of TNG is "Yesterday's Enterprise", an alternate-history episode where Starfleet is losing a 20-year long war with the Klingon Empire. DS9 of course wasn't as cool as B5, but had its excellent moments too, along with some ginormous space battles, as well as the absolutely awesome tribble episode. Voyager I mostly liked for Tom Paris's holonovel, Captain Proton, where he was the hero in a black-and-white Flash Gordon-esque sci-fi serial. Enterprise I never got into, but the later episodes look highly interesting (oh, and it was always fun to watch the guy played by the guy who played Sam Beckett on Quantum Leap try to wrap his head around the concept of time travel)

Firefly and Babylon 5 are, of course, totally awesome in their own ways. I will grant that the Defiant would probably take a White Star in a fight. That said? There's like 300 White Stars, and any one of them can be modified into a one-time-use thermonuclear kamikazi for use on pesky enemy bases (or evil exes, whichver). :D

Stargate SG1 I like, though the earlier episodes are of course rather cheesy. I have to admit to liking the show more after they got some spaceships of their own (even if the ships DO look suspiciously like the BattleStar Galactica, and generally fail at being able to fight any of their enemies on a one-to-one basis without some sort of trickery or boobytrap.)

Other shows I like include Space: Above and Beyond (freaking awesome), old school BSG (never got into the new BSG, but it looks very good), and various sci-fi cartoons such as Exo-Squad, BattleTech, and Roughnecks: The Starship Troopers Chronicals (cartoon based on a mix of the movie and book, VERY good, with excellent (if somewhat canned) music. One episode of Roughnecks has my favorite intro scene in any cartoon, a Marine running down the length of a trench during a battle while various Marines fire their weapons over the top of the trench, or head off to their own things, or sit down for a rest, and one guy about to step up to start shooting reaches back to give the running guy a five as he runs past.

And then the running guy gets pounced by a bug leaping over the wall. :D

Yes.
God yes.

Though, in the Btech cartoon, they did caste my noble Clan in a rather...
Disparaging light.

Well, you're just jealous because Clan Jade Falcon will never be as feared throughout the Core as Clan Scalded Chipmunk, my own clan! :D

Have you read the Battletech books? I read the first of the "Dark Ages" series, called "Ghost War", and it was fantastic.

Truly, the Scalded Chipmunk is the most terrifying of the Clans, quiaff?

Yeah... *Eye shift* I may have read... some Mechwarrior books...

The Jade Phoenix trilogy was fantastic, Ghost War was a solid read, then there were a bunch of shitty Sphere books, and then Flight of the Falcon.

Cleric luvs Mechs.
