My recovery has strikes and gutters, and might go better if I were not as hands on at work as I am. I get some dull aches from time to time; the biggest struggle is not being as strong or as capable as I was a few months ago.

Tali, you may be happy to know that what I feared might become a giant welt or a gash from me constantly scratching it has already mostly faded.

Yesterday was a very long day in the sun and the heat;. It was rare to catch a break to collect my thoughts or do the things human need to do like eat or drink.

I got home late, hungry, tired, and frazzled, that strange concoction of fatigue and exhilaration that usually comes at the end of busy days.

Today is a new day, colder, cloudier, perhaps less busy. So now I lay making revisions and changing destinies, wishing that I could stay in bed all day, or at least for another six hours.

More good news!!!

Just feeling a bit tired after a long week, thought I would share a maintenance photo.

It is said that oral hygiene is important.

It is important, as all routine maintenance is. But it is routine, it is maintenance.
There is no sex appeal in flossing because there is no danger. As much as we may try to make it alluring, doing the dishes is never going to turn anyone on.

But it is the kind of thing adults do.

My teeth are clean, tomorrow's lunch is prepared and now it is time to maintain an organized sink.

The calm after a storm

The weather here has been downright bi-polar this season.

80° and sunny one day, 50° the next.
Or maybe 65 in the morning then rain and barely keeping out of the 40's by the time the sun sets.

A set of squalls with heavy rain and even hail kept the usually massive throngs of people away from the weekly fireworks display and sadly off our boats. It was a very cold, quiet Saturday.

There were some benefits, like the peace to enjoy some of the things that I normally rush past, like the fact that they planted ferns near work, and an early end to my work day.

One of the opening lines of a favorite sci-fi/horror flick from the 80s is "Birth is always painful."

I think about that quote rather often, especially any time I try to get myself back in the gym or attend physical therapy.

As the days *seem* to be growing warmer, brighter, and longer, I am doing my best to find the time to be reborn and fit and strong again .

Every night before I go to bed, I water the plants that remind me of my trip to a magical place on the far side of the world. Sometimes, like tonight, I am granted the simple joy of seeing a new koru, or shoot, from my fern and am reminded of the beauty of life amidst the struggle to survive it.

Our first big weekend is coming up.

So is the lake level.
On a daily basis I raise fenders to protect our boats.

Today, I raised our heavy foam fenders with a new employee, and in my haste, grabbed too small a rope and an already damages metal snap. The weight of the fender was too much as the snap broke, whapping me in the forehead and her just above her eye, creating a small bead of blood on her blonde eyebrow I'm lucky she was such a good sport.

Now I keep scratching a spot on my forehead and reminding myself to take me time and use the right tools for the job

I had a setback last week when I let my ego override my sense and I helped lifted a heavy platform. Now I'm back to having some chronic soreness.

Trying to find the discipline and patience to work out every day.
